Part of the issue is some of us may have gotten used to these super polished mirror like finishes of some recent kit. The Revell snapers are the most polished I have ever seen!! My Hudsons look perfect for some mold line clean up, primer and paint.
-
Next Moebius Hudson due is a Club Special IIRC...... PS....this ain't ugly........

Need an aluminum paint.......

Tamiya is my fav..... -
WOW....really great build!!!!! I did one years ago......not as nice.
-
But think of all the 'mix and match' you can do!!! LOL
-
VERY nice work!!! I have one on a to do list.
-
One I have handy......a Caddy movie car....... Glued the doors closed to fit better. Added basic door handles. Die cast toy wheels and tires. I printed the tag. I like this kit warts and all.
-
Take my word.......the photo you reference is not what the actual model looks like. When I saw the picture I was shocked......I had not noticed it looking like that. Checked my pics and it's just that photo. Not sure why it looks so 'off ' but just the photo. Fantastic kit.

That 240/300 six cyl is great!!! I;ve seen both kits........the 240 6 cyl will land in a number of Late Model Sportsman racers from the 70's....the cars were unbeatable!
-
I'll admit that this one was not on my gotta have list......until I had the privilege of seeing a test shot........ WOW....not only well done but details so well done it is a must have. Although not many ran in NASCAR....a number of them did in other series. I am going to try a Lindberg 64 Plymouth roll cage and parts to make a really nice stock car model.
-
Correct....old age creeping in......
-
I forgot that way of doing it. Both NASCAR and Pro Stock have issues that need fixed for a street stock.....but the Pro Stock may have a better greenhouse. Nose too long on the PS.
-
I've seen folks combine a NASCAR 1983 Bird and Mustang/Fox chassis and build a stock 83-86. 87-88 Bird is very different......IRS and WB IIRC. Plus the interior is different.....so a NASCAR body, fender lips from a 87 and a Fox chassis may be easier.

TOO COOL!!!! I'd like to do the Challenger........ Nice work!!!

My laser cutter is a commercial machine.....and true I do not charge what a company may......but it still boils down to the time it takes to set up and the run time for what I charge others for work. I looked at 3D printers as the next step for me........but do not want to spend the time to learn the artwork needed for good fabrication. But if I had....material and time would go into the cost of every item produced. Printing time is wear and tear on the machine....costing you money. My laser tube just went out.....max hours reached......$$$ to replace.
-
I'd disagree with that. I started laser cutting back about 2002. It was cutting edge then. The charge by commercial shops is by the minute....not how much cutting is done or how big. TIME is the cost. How many jobs you can run in a 24 hour period sets your cost. And with 3D printing it is a combo of time and materials. (same with laser cutting if customer does not supply materials) that sets your cost. A 3D printed body that ties up a printer for 18 hours......time will be a cost factor.

Sad...but very common........

Perfect cuts in sheeet styrene every time.

Been using one for ten years or more. I never cut all the way through.....just scribe and snap. I cut some .080 sheet stock last night. Two passes and snap it. Clean 90 degree cut every time. For those with arthritis in the hands a great tool. Mine was under $10. I looked at a all metal unit that MAY be more accurate that was $30....still a deal. -
Old Monogram Parts Restored ?
Dave Van replied to Pete L.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Per Ed Sexton via my employer Dave Burkett at Model King. I really hope that's good enough. Working in the industry for almost 30+ years now I DO NOT DEAL IN RUMOR. Thanks!! I do see why 99% of the other folks that work in the hobby have left all forums.......looks like my time is near too. -
Old Monogram Parts Restored ?

We had a thread on this not long ago IIRC.......... But agreed....the 1928 through 1936 Fords reissued in the same form as the 1960's era kits would be FANTASTIC!!! I have two of them and love the many options each kit has. Seems the multiple option kits is kinda gone from RM.......R2 is doing some....but these were really cool. The 34 Ford has been retooled so many times and parts deleted and tossed.....I don't see RM retooling all of them. They didn't seem like they were too happy with Blue Beetle retool......gone already and not to return. Save your cash for an original if you want one....... -
"Exciting" new release ?
Dave Van replied to Krazy Rick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Doyosu cut and owned the molds. Eldon imported them first. Later Doyosu issed them again. Pink is somewhat simplified to me.....but love the car!!! -

In 2011 I was in So Cal on my regular visit. Peterson Museum had a display of 'famous movie cars' which I HAD to see. My buddy and I went. It was a great display. I got to see and touch the REAL Elanor. All the main American Graffiti cars were there. As I looked at them....something was wrong. These were 'tribute' cars.......I call them fake. And the Great Peterson was showing them as original cars developed for American Graffiti film by George Barris!!!!! George had NOTHING to do with the original cars in AG......but here it was being told as truth.......So it's often a muddy truth out there...... -
