  2. Sealer #1699 is great. Been using for 30+ years now....paint too.
  3. When I was at my HL Thursday they had dozens of their shipping boxes ready to unload in the kit/hobby area. I looked in a few, restocks....but I could only look in 2 of them.
  4. Went today to get a display case. Shelves were about 60% full. All newer Revell kits were $37.99 to 39.99. Oddly older monogram kits like 66 Mustang Hertz was $24.99. AMT were $32.99 to 39.99. I did pick up a Revell C8 racing Corvette by Revell for 40% off $37.99. PS: went by the WalMart and they had kits. Got the KW cement mixer for $32....OK deal. This was not my local WM.....no kits there.
  5. Not really a HL issue. A wholesale sight for dealers is showing 2023 kits MSRP in the $40-50 range for regular kits. Hobby biz must be doing OK if they can charge thus and stik=ll sell kits.
  6. My 1999 Chrysler Concorde...best hiway cruiser ever. AMT kit, removed aero package.
  7. Well Done!!! I sat in the real Boot Hill as a kid in 1969 while Dad was working at a So Cal car show. Scary just sitting in the seat.....driving must have been terrifying.
  8. I like these snapper kits. But done right or wrong I don't like the tire/wheel system Revell used. But still I have a few......Thanks!
  9. FYI....40% off model kits this week!!!!! If there is something you need. We may go and see what is left......and I need a display case anyway
  10. Empty model shelves are, in the long run, a good thing!!! Means HL has to put in big orders with manufactures, maybe some new SKU etc.
  11. I missed that thread. I knew the kit was simple, I knew for my build, movie car, it would need new tires and wheels. I had no idea how bad over all it was. If I hand known the glass did not touch the body I'd passed. Thanks
  12. Thanks ALL!!! It's a 12 footer.....don't get closer than 12 feet and it's fine. My post was as much to warn others too......the window issue is NOT an easy fix and one that would take more time than the kit is worth. Shame on RG putting out junk @ $35 MSRP
  13. My HL had 2 of the truck/trailer kits @ $39.99 a OK deal at 40% off
  14. This is a movie car....not a main Star Car but one I wanted to build. The movie car is a 79 but for my needs the re-issued Revell 81 would do....do I thought. After watching a online build of the car I picked up a copy. Built box stock other than wheels and tires to replace the plastic units and better replicate the movie car. The online build was very positive. I knew it was a simple kit.....but I got the idea from online it was nice. My mileage differed greatly. Lots of flash, not a game killer, fit on ALL parts was poor. This kits was a snapper when it came out in the 80's does not snap any longer. And if you try and snap parts they tend to break. Most of the issues were things that could be fixed......but the window glass was horrible. Look at photos and you can make out were the clear part gap between the glass and body!!! The T tops match up well but both front and rear glass do not connect to body!! I considered tossing it in the trash a few times.....but MSRP $35 I figured I better finish it no matter. If you tackle this kit.....beware the roof will collapse with any slight pushing. The BRIGHT spot is decals. 4 different colors of graphics and lots of dash, interior and under hood decals. This sheet and a vintage MPC kit would be GREAT!! I need to find a Monogram 79 to do a 'do over'. Thanks If you know the movie.....post it! Headlight decals!!
  15. hobbylobby.com is your friend............model kits ARE 40% this week.
  16. Circle of life................
  17. Nice and clean work.....On my list to do too
  18. Better looking, more civil and I liked him more than any 'Celeb'!
  19. Yep!! no problem here...........
  20. Truck chassis is 100% new to that series. Width, cage etc.
  21. Inflation alone is NOT the sole reason kits are averaging $40 today. Per the Inflation calculator a AMT full kit that had a MSRP of $2.00 in 1964 SHOULD sell for $19.27 today. HALF of what a kit is selling for. And then add in that I have a 1965 original issue AMT Ford with a K Mart tag of $1.29 it really shows the difference. BUT...it is a combo of inflation AND production numbers. Smaller market, much smaller today than 1954, and you must charge more per kit. Add inflation, demand and 'what the market will bare' and you get a $40 average. So if you buy a $35 kit at Hobby Lobby with 40% off sale you can get CLOSE to the cost with inflation alone. thx
  22. Sad news......I grew up in LA and have ties there to this day........I knew of P22 because I get TV station KTLA on DISH. I love all cats but big cats are special. I got to see a 6 month old Cougar at the Columbus zoo 10 years ago. It was just by chance. He was on the back of a golf cart and they brought him out to get him used to people. This small Cougar was SO STRONGE gave you an idea of how strong full grown cats are. RIP 22......
  23. I have talked to R2 about a real Elanor kit. A new hood and wheel covers is about all that is needed. But they say no $$$ in budget even though they have/had the Elanor license. BTW: I am going to make my own. Modelhaus did the wheel covers and a JoHan M/T Mustang funny car has the flat hood and it is a perfect fit.
