I think you did GREAT!!!!The kit was tooled in the early 1960's....but I have built a few of them and kinda like the 1/24 scale. If you don't like it later.....send it to me for 'storage' with my other Monogram 32's!!!

LOVE your design!!!! -
I built a number of the AM McLaren's for AM. They had to supply built ups to McLaren as part of the deal. This one should be in McLarens hands or tossed in the trash....who knows....but it was sent to them. Wish I had them back as I am not looking forward to build myself copies!!! I do recall Bob talking about how hard and costly McLaren was.....That is why AM II Concord, the 2nd AM, never ran the McLaren.

The car used in the TV show was a Vette with fiberglass body.....so the kit was pretty correct!

Tim Flock 1955 Chrysler 300

VERY nice clean work!!!!! That kit is near and dear to me. I got to work on the project early on. Ms Tim Flock was a neighbor and we had worked together on other projects. I did the decal art for that kit too. Tim and his wife were great folks. -
Round 2 purchased by an investment firm

Tom Lowe knows how to make money. He brought back the Johnny Lightning brand after it was abandoned, and built it into the R2 we know today. With more cash I think he can do more.....we'll have to wait and see. -

Hobbies are making money right now. That's why the big two model companies are owned by investment firms. Most of my grandkids have given up computer and phones and are DOING things. LEGO, painting, making doll clothes.....even a few model cars in there. It's a GREAT thing even if not plastic models. Let's stay positive. -
I'd buy those.....the Thunderbird is not great....but only plastic kit ever made.

Round 2 purchased by an investment firm

This investment firm has a record of buying into companies to make a profit......they do not have a history of cut and run tactics. That is no guarantee of what will happen.....but I hope a signal of what to come. -

Thanks for posting that...never saw that. I was thinking along the lines of kits of HW cars! I have done a few HW builds.... I was making an attempt at humor.....seems I failed! But I know of no subject like this that is NOT discussed in depth on this forum no matter how little we KNOW.....pretty harmless if kept civil! One of my 'Hot Wheels' inspired builds. -

Yes....positive until it ain't!!!!! Being a non public company we have ZERO info on R2 and it's finances. BUT...from my days as a banking Sr Analyst investment firms buy into companies for two reasons. They did get a look at their books and feel that with a investment in the company (R2) they could make more money. Pretty basic and simple. The other reason is the company is failing, owns a lot of real estate, fixed assets and or intellectual property that is in demand. The company is under valued and the investment firm can buy it, cut it up and make much more on parts and pieces than the whole. Not being public we do not know what assets R2 has.....but I am betting the have MUCH more PROFIT potential than just scrap value.....mch more. That's is a good thing. Only time will tell. NONE of us on the outside know for sure. -
Pete 359 snap 24hr build

Those colors really work! -
I get 2 or 3 a day on both land and cell. My goal is to keep them on the line as long as possible......less calls a day for them. Everyone should do so..... First I ask who they are calling for. They say 'whoever owns this number'. I tell them there are two people on the number....were just friends. This makes them stumble and get off spiel. I then just string them along as long as possible......then when the press me for car make and model I tell them 'Ford 1946' which is true. This ends the call....but if I kept them on the line long enough to NOT call someone else....good.

Pete 359 snap 24hr build
Dave Van replied to tbill's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
When Monogram tooled these kits YEARS ago they were pushed a snap kits......much like big versions of the line of 1/32 snap trucks they had. Many parts still 'snap' but the fact much of that has deteriorated they became 'GLUE' kits. Engine still snaps together well! -

I am working on that kit myself right now. I have found that I needed to trim or remove many of the 'snap' pins or tabs as Revell has allowed the mold to wear and things will not snap....not an issue but not a kit a kid can just snap build. Good work so far...I like the green....used green for the KW I built. -
Now that you say that I think you are correct......that was all a while back and getting mix up in my mind.
-
I'd love to see a California TD Vette.......but that kit was modified so many times it would be easier to tool a new kit. When I was working with Revell and asked about it they thought it was tooled into the 4 door Vette.....most of the CA Vette stuff tossed. Rommel's was retained by the new Revell of Germany.

During my 25 years as a Sr Analyst for one of the biggest banks I did 'Due Diligence' for a number of much larger investment firm deals. In the end the deals ended being FANTASTIC or a dumpster fire. I'd like to think this will be FANTASTIC but only those on the inside know as R2 is a private co w/o any public reporting. BTW R2 landed a NEW Star Wars license deal for upgraded old kits and all new tooling. That takes cash.
