$12 with 40% off not a bad deal......I do not think it has clear windows.....not the early version the model train guys have built.....but they added their own. easy. -

That's pretty much SOP for most retail chains. The industry calls it 'plan o gram'. My son is a manager of a drug store chain. They want each store to look like the others.....AND how each looks is according to a marketing expert's design. So no real surprise each HL looks like the others. -

1st Salvinos kit.....no color chart
Dave Van replied to Vietnam Vet67's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Nothing missing. 1960 to mid 1990 there was no standard colors on NASCAR race cars. Teams may even have different colors of chassis and details. Petty was more consistent color wise as they were the top team money wise of the era. It's pretty easy to google photos online of Petty cars. Most were Petty blue chassis, darker blue suspension. The other details can vary year to year or even race. Drive shaft is white on all cars of that era.....that was a rule. Rear diff was often red oxide, Lots of silver/aluminum. Like I said....google it! good luck -

I opened the Big Red Rod and in a way kinda like the GRAY plastic over the chrome. I see a current T style with little chrome so no stripping!!!! Mine did not have decals....any one else??? Not a big deal....but makes me think these were thrown together from parts on hand and they did not want to pay for the chrome plating. Either way glad I picked up one.....my store had 8....that's a good number to sell. -

Went to town for groceries........stopped by Oliies......models were wiped out!! One Big Red so I picked it up. No Chevys, 1 48 Ford and plenty of Civil War cannons!!! Who is buying all this stuff....thought we were a dead hobby! -

I got the Mars Probe kit today while out. Kinda cool if you like 1950's future space stuff.....it's a 2 in 1 kit and contains parts for a version not shown on box. -
Big thing is you are OK.... NADA has a classic car book that is used for older cars. It's kinda a 'suggestion' book. My insurance guy used the Classic book as a start for value on my collector cars. They then had me find some cars that sold at auctions. That and some other data we arrived at a value before anything happened....'Agreed Value' as such. Hope this is the last time you need the info but keep it in mind.

I'll admit the 71 Mustang was not on the top of my list of Fords I want........ For less money a 1972 Ford Gran Torino body and interior for the S&H Torino would be my puck and lots cheaper too......do it as the Clint Eastwood car....or even FnF version!

When I bought my 1966 Mustang in FEB 1975 Young Ford had two Mustangs on the used lot. My 66 289 4spd 2+2 or a 72 302 fastback auto. Both were the same price....I liked both....but that 4spd made my mind.....still I wish I could have bought both!!!! They were both $800 each!!! I'll buy a few Revell kits....

MANY have!!!! These were on it when I bought it in 1993.....not my favorite.....unlimited $$$ I'd have Minilite's!!! But I do like the smooth no lug look....so they stay. I do have a alternative I may swith to.....someday!! thx

I do know Ed Sexton is a Ford guy.....or was when I did some work for him. I have a different question...........Why the different method of announcing a new kit??? Talking about a kit this early is VERY different!!! I know when RM came to a buddies house to do the drawings for a new kit (olden days!) it was super secret mission and not public info for a year!!!! I guess if the announcement flopped they just have the scan cost lost?!?!?!?!

Dave Van replied to IanH's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Very well done!!! I built 3 of those kits for Accurate Miniatures to use at trade shows and one went to McLaren. It's a good kit but a tough build. Congrats! -

Zinc pest is a huge subject over on the train forums as the guys are losing $3K a hit!!!! Zinc has been used forever....I have a 1939 Lionel locomotive that is zinc and it is perfect. Zinc pest comes into play when trash metal is allowed to be used.....and there is no way to know if the manufacture cheated until it's to late. But overseas manufacturing is why we see an increase in the terror!!!

Dave Van replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine was well picked over......glad kits are selling......but I did pick up a Revell Saturn V rocket kit for $21 a good deal. I also picked up a display case with my 40% off coupon so the 2 were $30 out the door. -
Cool spin on that!!!! Wonder if those molds are still around?? I saw a case of them at a flea market about 1979 the guy wanted $10 each but you had to buy the case....24 I think?
