What was the worst movie you saw at the theater??
Dave Van replied to slusher's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Bobby Deerfield............. You may have to look it up. Advertising made it out as a movie about Formula 1......which it had about 5 minutes total. They rest was a bad drama filled love story that made no sense at all. REALLY bad....... You can add all Tom Cruise movies....but I have not seen one in theaters since Days of Thunder.....Another really bad racing movie with drama love.... -

One thing I want to add...... Back when RC2 owned AMT I got to help restore a old tool that was damaged and missing parts. I worked directly with a Chinese tooling shop. Even with a language barrier the WORKERS were great people. Very skilled and very polite. A shame that the CCP is not the same as it's people. I am not anti Chinua but anti CCP. thx
-
The good news is this..... The cost of tooling and manufacturing in China has gone up so much, part of the plan, that the USA is now cost effective. Also the current administration has made China back off the required partnership if you do business there.....we'll see how effective that is. The bad thing is if things go south big with China what will happen to all the tooling in China now?? Doubt they will hand it over intact.
-
My bet is 'Damaged' is just a term for gone. If you want tp get an idea how manufacturing in China works get a copy of the book '100 year marathon'. It explains how if you make things in China you operate with the CCP as a partner. Inside the CCP are 'companies' that operate under that CCP umbrella. What happened to the 29/30 tooling MAY be much like what was detailed on a model train forum by a manufacture that tried to move his tooling from one shop to another.....once he got the OK he found all his tooling had been destroyed by a number of methods. Only the folks at Revell know what happened.......

Back.........My store was just putting them out. Got Gremlin, 62 Bird and Olds. Had Vettes and Camaros, Cameos nothing more. Lady working the shelves said they may have more....they just pull out a pallet and unbox....no idea what they have. I'll visit SAT...... -

These 'dumps' may be runs just for Ollies. Almost 400 stores, just 6 kits per store, 2400 kits.....right at the 2500 minimum we ran at Model King when they allowed private runs. No storage or warehouse cost, maybe COD, it all equals cash flow AND exposure of hobby kits to folks that may not seek out models. Win - Win.... Going in a few minutes to check!!! -
One guy really wanted it....he bid early and often. It's a low rider kit and different than the regular Revell 58 Chevy. $58 is far from outrageous ......more than I'd pay but I have my Revell 58.....

While they did not show it in the TV episode if you look at the video you posted there is a 'hood' over the engine. The radiator is mid ship with fans and works fine for the 5 -10 minutes that the car runs. I think the car works as ART. Few people agree on what art is good. For what the owners paid they got their money and then some. IMGO only!!

Very well done.......owning two real AMC I may be bias!

Looks like ZINC PEST which there is nothing you can do. Be happy you do not own some of the O scale trains that have ZINC PEST and cost owners $2500.....it's happening now!!! The window deal may be more the zinc swelling and moving. Toss it or live with it.......nothing you can do to fix.....raid for parts
