  1. In NOV 1988 the a moveable 300 ft telescope collapsed at the Green Bank WV facility. This was due to rust that was not taken care of. So it seems like a problem that is not a unknown issue. It was replaced with a larger telescope that is now the largest in the world moveable unit. While the loss of Arecibo is bad being built into the earth made it limited. The current 328 foot dish at Green Bank is not used full time and is actually looking for work!!! So it seems like the loss will not cripple reasearch overall. Current dish......I live not far away and have toured the facility a number of time. All vehicles used on site are Checker Marathon diesels!!!
  2. As a decal manufacture for 40 years I will say decals will only be as good as the artwork AND the print can create. Artwork MUST be vector art and the printer must be able to print 600 dpi minimum. 'Home' decals can be as good or better than screen printed 'factory' decals in some ways. Screen decals need a screen for each color....13 colors 13 screens......each sheet will be costly. Digital print decals done right can have 3 colors or 100 colors....same cost to print. And at 800 dpi as fine a print as screened decals. What you showed looks like art that was not vector and a printer not up to very fine printing. I have 300 decals in my line and as of last month I have gone 100% digital print. The decal custom printers out there charge $10-20 a INCH so a 11 inch page of decals can cost $200. But they will be very nice. I do not do custom work but if you need info on those that do contact me. This is what they should look like......
  3. I have 5 hobby cars so I need nothing!!!! But I am somewhat obsessed with this car from a 50's movie. It just has the authentic look I'd want. Not a lot of details but I like it!!!
  4. I need/want one too........Wife and I bought a Mustang II a few weeks ago....LOVE to build a model!
  5. My son is a manager with a BIG drug store chain. Their suppliers in China cut WAY back on sending product to them and all the USA.....more politics than anything. I needed to replace all my rope lights I use at Christmas.....but very limited colors and selection......local WM has NONE. I am sure there will be plenty Christmas 2021......
  6. I'll get 1 or 2 of these........if only for the nostalgia of recalling how badly it beat me as a kid!!! It's a tough build ...like another chance!
  7. Using R/C tires is a cool idea. I used tires off a big scale die cast for this one. Body is a toy and it's 1/25 scale!
  8. I was told the clear plastic is no longer viable for a clear body that big......spread it over the chassis and it cracks. It may be the plastic needed to make it work is to costly today.
  9. Musta be some demand for it.....R2 don't run it unless they got sales.
  10. Nice work!!!
  11. I wish they had done a different decal sheet for the Petty car. Do a set no one has done and sell more than a exact reissue. The MPC last Petty kit they did would have been a good version......the 1/25 kit
  12. Good stuff!!
  13. As good as the REAL 'Gone' was 'Gone II' was equally bad. All the HB films were available from his widow a few years back in a DVD set...I own it. The issue is The soundtrack on Gone was redone and not well.
  14. When Moebius first got into model car kits I was the go between to Moebius acquiring the Taurus tooling. But it was now to old for a current car and not cool enough to do 'vintage' kits. At that time it was my understanding it was the toolings last chance. Where the tooling is today I can not say....but it was heading toward the scrap heap if it was not put to use soon. The positive is it gave me a door to working with Moebius. Thx
  15. I did work for the original AM when they were in Charlotte. I built a number of kits for use in trade shows and catalogs. When AM was reorganized in Concord NC my brother in law was Art Director and I helped out with other duties....some as simple as packaging kits. The end of AM was messy. My brother in law died suddenly at 40 years old and other AM owners had major life issues. The tooling was in Korea at the time IIRC and the plane kits sold off. The car kits tooling I never did hear where it ended up. But there were 'problems' with it. Pretty sure the Taurus NASCAR tooling was scrapped. The GS Vette kits Revell Monogram issued were just re-box of kits in storage at the Concord AM warehouse. I'm not sure the car tooling is still around. There was a major issue with the McLaren and I was told it would never be seen again. AM Taurus kit....
  16. $32 sold price....someone wanted it
  17. The left was pretty cool. The gearbox needed lots of grease. I'd be OK w/o the motor if needed.
  18. OK Atlantis......my grail Unreal Roller is on the list for production......time to start a new request.....
  19. If anyone has the tooling it may be ATLANTIS as they bought all tooling in storage in ILL. Yes,,,I'd buy @!!! Me about 1973
  20. I make screen printed decals for the MM in 1/25 and 1/12
  21. $550 I\ll pass. I have had LEFO since the early 1960's and now my son has a city that fills his basement. I build once in a while.....more cars than anything.
  22. Hope they included the optional hot rod parts!!!
  23. Who's nut $ bolt castings??? Fantastic work!
  24. All tooling that was in the USA.....if it went to China to be run RoG has it. Was the Grand Am molded in USA???
  25. Was I THAT obvious?!?!?!?! Yes...I was!!! I thought that the kit was issued once, no vinyl tires.....and if need be issue it w/o chromed, easy reissue. But the GREAT chrome in the Chopper I am sure UNREAL will get it too! thx
