I am curious as to the orientation of the parts being painted, to the airbrush. Are the sides of the car perpendicular to the airbrush? Holding the body on a paint stand would result in the sides of the body getting the paint applied straight onto the surface. Holding the body the same way might result in the paint being applied on an angle. I now hold the body with the upper surface tipped toward me so that the paint hits the surface directly instead of at an angle. Sometimes small things can make big differences. Apologies if you responded to this in your just posted response.

Vallejo paint strike

I'm not holding out for a resolution before Christmas, maybe even the new year 🤕 -
Trevor, I know that some of the Fujimi wheel/tire sets came with Pirelli P7 Cinturato tires. They are old enough that they probably came in the 14" range you are looking for.

Jeff, the new posting of the pic worked. ?

I have both a Gaahleri GHAD-68 and a Swallowtail that were purchased last year. I'm wondering how far Gaahleri will be willing to go in terms of providing customers with this updated needle guide component for free. I would hope that the needle guide component is the same for both of these Gaahleri trigger style airbrushes.

What is going on with my Airbrush.
Bill Eh? replied to Mike 1017's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Installing the replacement TAL-8 to get it to effectively seal against the needle is a trial and error process. Installing it too tight will cause this new needle packing to fail again sooner than it should. Once initially installed, hold your airbrush vertically with the nozzle end pointing up. Then take your needle, with the non business end barely inside the airbrush body, and let the needle drop. If it falls right through the airbrush, then the needle packing is not tight enough and doing its job. Tighten the needle packing a little more, think about 1/8th of a turn. Try the needle drop again. Keep repeating this process until the needle does not fall through. When it gets "held" by the needle packing, then the needle packing is doing its job and is adjusted correctly / tight enough. -
What is going on with my Airbrush.

Usually if you experience bubbling in the cup it might be one of two things. The nozzle is experiencing a leak where it joins with the airbrush body. If the nozzle has a seal (o-ring) attached, you might just need to replace the o-ring. If there is no seal on the nozzle, some bees wax on the nozzle threads will seal it. If the nozzle is damaged (think cracked or chipped), you will need to replace it. As said before, the air and paint are finding the path of least resistance. With the evidence of paint getting back to the trigger mechanism, that would indicate to me that the needle packing (TAL-8) needs to be tightened or replaced. Tightening is not that difficult if you have a small slot blade screwdriver. Some needle packings are a brass fitting which compresses a separate ptfe o-ring (or other material). Others are an integral unit with o-ring attached to brass fitting. -
Dusty, it's nice to see that you are going all in with this build.

Update on the new Italeri 1/12 Lancia Stratos!
Bill Eh? replied to jaymcminn's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm thinking the Otaki/Doyusha kits will still be desirable to some. However, with this kit pending others will be finding their way to sites like eBay before their desirability becomes diminished. -
Aoshima 2022 NiSMO R35 GTR Special Edition

Do my eyes deceive me or has Aoshima actually included wheels with tires in this new version of their SnapCar Series? I built one of the earlier 1/32 R-35 kits....meh. -
Tamiya spray cans banned in Canada!!!
Bill Eh? replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hope this might be of some assistance to individuals who live close to Toronto who might still be looking for some Tamiya spray cans. Advance Hobbies (Parkway Mall), which is a small shop that caters to mostly RC, has the pictured amounts still. -
These are purchases from the Group 25 contest, 2024-09-28 The Tamiya AlfaRomeo because it's an awesome kit of an awesome sports car. The Hasegawa Lola T90-50 because I like open wheel race cars. The Atlantis Fireball Dragster to feed the masochist in me! LOL

I realize that the Tamiya McLaren MP-4 series are considerably older than this Meng offering. The detail portrayed in the instruction drawings is more than impressive. In spite of it not being the accepted F-1 scale (1/20 LOL), I will more than likely buy this kit. Since I do not have much in the way of AK paints, I'll do my best to colour match the AK paints listed.

New trigger-style airbrush - suggestions?
Bill Eh? replied to atomicholiday's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
On what basis do you say that Gaahleri airbrushes are made of cheaper materials? Is this just supposition on your part? Do you own a Gaahleri brush? I own a couple of Gaahleri brushes and also a few H & S brushes. However, I have not sent my Gaahleri off to a metallurgist to confirm the composition of the metals. LOL The Colani is a great brush, but takes some time to get used to due to the trigger activation movement. -

Yes, it is called the LP line. At this point it does not encompass all of the TS colours, but am confident that they will keep adding to the range. -

Thanks Graham. In the mean time, I'm going to visit a local but little known RC shop to see if they might still have some cans of Tamiya White Primer! LOL -

This specific wording from Borgfeldt, I believe might be key: "....a chemical with too high of a concentration... My interpretation is not the chemical itself, but rather the proportion of said chemical to the whole. -

Bil, check and see if your local hobby shop or source carries the Mr Hobby line of primers and paints. The Mr Hobby products are really good, especially in the aerosol category. -

I just received an email back from Borgfeldt. Borgfeldt Info 12:18 PM (48 minutes ago) Hi Bill, Thank-you for your email. Unfortunately, we have received notice from Environment Canada that some of the paints include a chemical with too high of a concentration to import without a permit. As such we have removed all of the Tamiya Aerosols and some other items from sale. We are working with our suppliers on clarifying SDS across the colours individually and potential formula changes to meet Canadian regulations. We should have more updates soon once we receive the final documents from Environment Canada and news from our suppliers. Meanwhile, the retail stores can still sell any inventory they have but we cannot re-stock them. Customer service -
Tamiya spray cans banned in Canada!!!
Bill Eh? replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Canadian distributor for Tamiya products is Borgfeldt (Canada) Limited. I was fortunate to have a business relationship with them in the past. I just sent off an inquiry email to them pertaining to this situation. When I receive a reply, I will pass on said information. -

Dave, I will keep this in mind at the next NNL East, where Dave Burkett often sells this product at his Model King space. -
I'd definitely be in for a Speedster.
