So let me get this straight
Wayne Buck replied to oldscool's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree that some people should spend a little time going over their posts before putting them up, but when it comes to the correct usage of words like there, their, they're, to, too, you're, your, etc.. I think some people get a little too nit-picky. If you can understand what the person meant, it shouldn't start a peeing match. When you talk to someone in person and they use those types of words, you can't see the "spelling" of it, but you know what they are talking about because of the context. I agree 100%, however, that thread titles should be descriptive enough so forum members will generally know what it is about before they click on it. Titles like "I need one of these" or "Look" are not so good... -
1/8 universal nitrous kit
Wayne Buck replied to comp1839's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That's funny. There was recently a thread started about "what we would like to see produced in the aftermarket for drag cars" and my first thought was fogger nozzles and solenoids. Those look really great BTW! -
***Your opinion wanted***
Wayne Buck replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do like that idea, however, it depends on "whose car" they used to model after and if it has been modified in any way that doesn't look stock. This is especially true in the case of older cars. For example, I bought a 70 Z28 from the Franklin Mint expecting it to be an exact replica of one that just rolled off the showroom floor. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I guess whoever's car they copied was restored incorrectly, as the stripes were HORRIBLY wrong, it had the wrong seats, rear spoiler and some other things... It's been so long since I looked at it that I forget. What I do remember was that it was so bad, I chose not to even display it. My $20 ertl 70 Camaro looked way more accurate! -
FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500
Wayne Buck replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Dave, I would have to say you are doing an AWESOME JOB!! Everything looks great so far. Can't wait to get mine! I wouldn't worry too much about the bottom and think it looked great either way (that copper color with the black will look really cool IMO with the blue body color if the car is displayed on a mirror). My thinking is that cars like this one are more likely to end up in the hands of a "car nut/collector" and could have undergone axle painting, undercoating, etc... within the first couple of weeks of being in the hands of it's new owner. It's not like it's a 6 cylinder car that some high school girl got as a gift and is just gonna drive. For example, I consider my father to be one of those "car nuts"... When the 4th gen Camaros came out, he bought a brand new Z28, and within 5 minutes of being home from the dealership, the car was already up on jack stands with the rear coming out to receive a treatment of black rustoleum. -

Wayne Buck replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Holy Smokes, John!! Dunno how I missed this one until now, but I gotta say OUTSTANDING WORK! It's looking AWESOME as your projects always do. Can't wait to see her all buttoned up! -
I miss the "comfy" setting... It made me feel so comfortable..
-
WOW!!! That is just Gorgeous!! OUTSTANDING work!

That's what I was thinking too. Sorta like the rear doors on a mini van. Dunno if you're gonna make it a 4 door or 2 door, but if it's a 4 door, you can make the front ones slide forward and the rear ones slide to the back. Oh yeah, GREAT job so far on this! I'm really liking your design and am looking forward to seeing it progress into the finished product!

LOL, when I first scrolled down and saw this, I was like "I know he said it's his first time with BMF, but man that is terrible!". Then I scrolled down some more and saw the finished product. I really like it!! You did a GREAT job on this one! I think the color looks very cool on it.

So how big is the garage?
Wayne Buck replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
LOL! I just read the article for that a few hours ago! He said "the accelerator got stuck and he couldn't stop the vehicle in time". It's amazing how many people get into that situation and never think to turn off the ignition... From another angle! http://www.1strespondernews.com/Resources/Pictures/News/Web/ArticleImages/052210102-C.jpg -
How do you BMF the doorlocks, can't make circle..
Wayne Buck replied to bigmikevee's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I usually use a silver sharpie as well. Works great! Maybe you can get a real small piece of aluminum tubing and punch out a circle on something soft and then stick it on? Never tried it, but might work... One thing I know that is a MUST for BMF is a brand new, super sharp blade. -

Wayne Buck replied to Jared Roach's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I would lower it down some if it were mine, but still leave some rake to it. Looks like a really cool project though. I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Almost bought this kit a few times, might have to pick one up now! -
X2 Pacer "Formula 560" Canopy glue is my favorite for gluing clear plastic.

GREAT job! Looks right on the money!

I like how this thing is coming together! She's definitely different, that's for sure. I love the pack of smokes! You should get a driver figure for it with a big ol' mullet. Maybe with the lightning bolts shaved into the side. You ever seen the movie "Joe Dirt"?

WOW!!! This looks amazing so far! Can't wait to see it finished!

Mark Taylor did a great little tutorial on flocking here. Starts at post #117 -
It IS really weird driving a rhd car. About 10 years ago I used to work at a shop in St Charles IL (while I was going to tech school) and this Saturn wagon used to come in all the time for oil changes. The guy used it for newspaper deliveries or something and it was right hand drive. I had to take it extra easy with that thing! Always felt like I was gonna crash into the lift pulling it in. It was a lot weirder feeling than I expected it to be. Kind of like trying to cut your own hair using 2 mirrors...

Very nice clean build! GREAT job!! I like the way the hatches open and I don't think the hinges look bad at all.

Concept cars youd love to see?

That is awesome!! My old tech school buddy and I used to watch that movie A LOT at night after school 10 years ago. Man, time flies. We always used to reenact the part when they were at the gas station talking to the kid... "396?" "454" "What kind of trans?" "4 speed" I used to love the in-car shots where you could hear the whine from the m22. KILLER job so far. I'll be watching this one for sure!

There's another person I forgot to mention! Harry, your Pocher builds kick rear!!

This one is impossible to answer for me as there is a TON of talent out there. Different people are just amazing in different areas of building. A few that come to mind at the moment are John Teresi (because I absolutely LOVE drag racing and he has built some beautiful machines), Bill Geary (his 57 Corvette just BLOWS me away) and Mark Jones (I'm still cleaning the drool out of my keyboard from that Super 7 build). Oh and Jeff Sauber too (just amazingly clean work).

Now THAT is really neat!! I love it! Great Job! Just out of curiosity, do you know what it ran in the 1/4?
