  1. In my particular situation we rotated over and received the first jungle pattern utilities after returning. I later wore the old green sateens while TDY to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Our Gunny absolutely detested the jungle camo. Finally go back to Pendleton where I can wear the camo, get sent to 29 Palms Ca. for desert warfare training. There was no such thing as desert cammie back then, so it was jungles or the heavy greens. Life with Mother Green, always an adventure G
  2. Oh numbah ten, vebby vebby bad. No usee the makeup brush. Leave the stuff on for a bit and watch it wrinkle the decal. As it dries the decal will conform well to the surface. Once any decal setting solution is on I try not to touch anything until the next day. Solvaset is actually more aggressive, Micro Sol less so. G
  3. Outstanding Work. G
  4. Good job so far, I love this car. My daughter built this a long time ago. I think it's why she stopped building! For the sugar scoops have you thought of fake finger nails from a beauty shop? They come in all sizes and may work if turned upside down and cut just right. I use them for headlight visors. G
  5. These are commercial ones I picked up in KC years ago. All I did was polish them with some Simichrome and a Dremel. I'm not set up for machining my own yet, and may never be. I'm digging this thread, all sorts of new ideas. G
  6. Mostly Rod and Custom. I'm fortunate that every Saturday morning the locals have a get together called "Cars and Coffee" on a mall lot nearby. I've gone down there many mornings with the model car club and just hung out taking photos. Henderson blocks off the downtown area every September for "Super Run". It lasts all weekend and we have a model show in conjunction with the big cars. Great for inspiration, however all I can afford are the small cars. G
  7. My last build used mostly parts from the box, however...... I added (bashed) the wheels and tires from another kit. I made (scratchbuilt) the fuel tank and trunk floor from plastic tube and sheet. That's how I see the terms defined. G
  8. I'm still attempting to get the white out off the screen. I don't type all that well...... G
  9. MMS is quite aggressive, it's best to poke the holes either before or wait till after. That way you could just dab a bit on the area of the hole. G
  10. I owned a '69 E type for all of four months in '74. It was silvergray with a black interior. G
  11. Hmmm I think you missed a perfect opportunity to conduct some field interviews......... G
  12. I left 50 built police cars at the St Louis Police Academy Library when I retired. I have 16 built cars, 9 tanks, two airplanes, 12 120mm military figures, and 4 1/9 scale busts at the house. I'm currently working on 3 tanks, and another 120mm fig. G
  13. Very nice, Thank You! G
  14. Yes that is definately Colorado's paint scheme. It looks great on the Camaro. I got to see a CSP Charger up close and personal once, good looking car. G
  15. During the 60's and 70's Marine Corps policy, (at Camp Pendleton) was to wash and wax all vehicles after leaving the field. My brother was Motor Transport, boy did he ever gripe. I was a machine gunner, I'd just laugh........... I love the build, I just wish I had photos or enough memory to replicate some of the vehicles I rode in. Photos went bye bye with ex wife #2. G
  16. The Ford flathead V8 used three pipes per side. The two middle cylinders shared one exhaust port. G
  17. Here's my tute on this site. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32489 G
  18. Oh my, That's just, just NICE! Beautiful Rommel, simply beautiful. G
  19. SaWeet! G
  20. I like it!!! G
  21. I have a third car garage that is WAY too hot during the summer to do anything in. Until I get that straightened out (window AC) I model at the breakfast bar. My lovely wife commented she would rather have me sitting at the breakfast bar building a model than sitting in a bar hitting on one.......... G
  22. Wow, I like them all, but if I had to save one, it'd be this one. G
  23. I've only ever done one '57. G
  24. Here's mine. '29 on '32 rails. Beach Boys inspired PU A little dry lake racer. G
