  1. Wow Darren, that dashboard looks great! That shade of gold is perfect, but I think it may be too much for the whole truck. It'll be interesting to watch you make it work. David G.
  2. Thanks guys! Time for a few more photos. Filling the gaps with styrene strips pushed the fenders out just a little bit causing a misalignment of the fender bead from the fender to the front panel. Now the plan is to remove the misaligned fender bead on the front panel and replace it. This will be a little tricky, but not having to worry about preserving the fender bead makes smoothing the front panel gaps easier. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and feel free to comment. David G.
  3. Excellent color choice, fabulous paintwork! David G.
  4. Needing a break from my Revell 1960 Chevy Impala, which I've been working on periodically for the past five years, I decided to work on an "easy' project that I had a fairly good chance of completing. Enter the AMT 1941 Plymouth Coupe. First order of business, cleaning up mold lines. In test fitting the front panel, I discovered that there was too much of a gap between the panel and the front fenders. I used some strip styrene to make up the difference. So much for easy. . In spite of the minor set-back, I'm still making decent progress. More updates forthcoming. Thanks for looking, and as always, please feel free to comment. David G.

  7. Excellent work on the metallic bits. Everything else looks great too. David G.
  8. I'm very interested in watching this one come together. In fact, looks like the whole community will be watching you... no pressure. Seriously though, you have some of the best model builders in the world here in this forum to back you up. David G.
  9. Thanks Bill, I'm glad you like the paint. I find that encouraging. I sometimes feel a little twinge of guilt when I have to turn away and set a kit aside for a while. But I remind myself that it's just a hobby and if I'm not having fun with it or at least getting some form of satisfaction from it, then it's time to do something else for a while. David G.
  10. Honestly, I'm not feeling very inspired to finish this one. It's become more of a grudge match at this point. I still may start another build just to get my head away from this one for a while... again. All that aside, it's time for another update. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to get most of the scratches out of the roof I'd begun to burn through the paint on the right front corner. Masking and a re-spray for the roof. For all the trouble I've had with this one, I think I can be satisfied with the paint and polish results. Sometimes good enough just has to be good enough. As always, thanks for looking and feel free to comment. David G.

  12. All of a sudden it's 1978 again! Nicely done and well worth the effort. David G.
  13. Excellent work! David G.
  14. I built several of these back in the 70's. Like most other things during those times, they were cheap and plentiful. Although I think I did pretty well with them but my skills were limited by my age. Now that my age has increased greatly and my skills at least moderately, I'd like another crack at them. David G.
  15. I'm glad to see this one back in the spotlight Darren. I'll be watching. David G.
  16. Thanks for the update. Every time I check in on this thread, I'm amazed by what I see. Looking at the texture of the dryer sheet you've used, it looks like it could also be used to simulate the interior surface of a fiberglass panel. Thanks for sharing that tip. David G.
  17. The interior looks great! Excellent color choice. David G
  18. Thanks for your kind words G. No need to be afraid to post your builds here- we'd love to see them. David G.
  19. Thanks Richard! David G.
  20. Richard I'm sorry to say that I've run out of superlatives- all your excellent work has used them up. Great work, as always! David G.
  21. It's certainly well deserved Bill. I've been following your work on this forum since I signed up in 2009 and I'm always impressed with your work. David G.
