  5. Stickers on my produce! It's impossible to peel one of those tiny labels from a pear or tomato without taking the skin with it. David G.

  7. Bill, I'm thinking more along the lines that a scrap yard owner would buy an old junker for $75 then sell the right front fender for $50, the rear bumper for $35, the hood for $40, etc. Much the way this seller seems to buy a model kit for, maybe $75, and sells a hood scoop for $16, a bumper for $10, etc. Yes, the cost for a used part vs. a new part is much lower. The point I wanted to make is, buying the parts to build an entire car or model kit would cost many times what the car or kit would cost if purchased as a whole. Regardless of whether the parts are new or used. This is something scrap yards have been doing for the last century or so. David G.
  8. Haven't real-life automotive scrap yards been doing this for about a century already? David G.
  9. That's just beautiful- everything looks spot-on. David G.
  10. I think all vintage hard-to-find should be built in such a manner as this. You are certainly doing this kit justice. Excellent work! David G.

  12. Excellent rust work! Creating a convincing rust effect takes a lot of skill, this one looks great. David G.
  13. Awesome painting and detail! Everything looks real and solid- it seems to have mass. That's something that's difficult to accomplish in scale. David G.
  14. It's not often that one gets to use the molded color like that. Well Done! David G.

  17. Thanks Carl, I wasn't sure about the color at first, but it's beginning to grow on me. Besides, my wife really likes it, so it must be a good color. Thanks Lee. David G.
  18. Thanks Charlie. I find that, for me at least, it's all in the base coat. It's got to be smooth and flawless, if it's not, I strip the paint and prep it again. David G.
  19. A couple more pictures. I got some Alclad sprayed on the "chromie" bits. This is the final color. Thanks for looking! David G.
  20. Most Impressive! David G.
  21. The trouble I had with the pipes lining up was that when the exhaust manifolds were placed in the "proper" position on the engine block, they were only about 1.5mm from the transmission housing. What I did was use a method similar to the one you describe above to attach them to the sides of the engine block using wires. The wires gave me enough flexibility to "bend" the manifolds into a better alignment with the pipes. I then back-filled the resulting gap between the mating surfaces with CA and putty. I have tried this method to align pipes and manifolds, but I seem to have trouble properly centering the holes on the two separate pieces. Thanks for the tip though. David G.
