Defective Round Two kits
dublin boy replied to iBorg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good to hear the matter is in hand anyway Jonathan. I got a 1/16th scale Karmann Ghia before Christmas, no instructions or decals. Revell didn't even offer to print out and post the instuctions. It was like sorry, we have no parts left... I just brought it back to the retailer and got my money back. -

You have a few kits JC, any chance of trying Group 5 style? -
Being realistic, I assume the DS 21 nose could be grafted on to the 19 without too much cost. I really want a DS 23 Pallas, fuel injection was still rare back then in 1973. Apparantly the plan for the DS was a flat 6 engine, alas there was no money so the old Traction Avant engine was used, dating back to the stone age. Europe only went to fuel injection for everything in 92 when legislation demanded it along with unleaded and cats.

That was for the Amsterdam cops with the posh version and moustashes back in the day. Seriously a Police convertible? LOL

You made that one up in your back garden Geoff! LOL No actual proper production of 2 door hardtops though. I can see a conversion into a chopped top coupe as the best lead sled ever!
-
No such thing as a 2 door DS, apart from the Chapron soft tops, Yes there are pics, but it never got into even limited production. The Chapron convertibles are worth serious money.

There must be a steel wheel ie a basic version in the works somewhere? Maybe a German spec Police car... I have no idea Jonathan as to why they are there, one set of Scirocco type alloys only with the Cabrio, the GTI never had them.

1/25 Moebius/Model King 1959 Rambler Custom Cross Country Wagon

Has anyone got a pic of one they built back in the day? -
My Cabrio is fine, only 'extra' parts are hubcaps for a steel wheel version, not included. Make out of that what you will, they didn't cast them for the craic.

That's an odd looking Estate car, but if it has a Jo-han bodyshell I want one. -

I don't know if this is a runner for the cambelt JC or not. I found these thinking I might use them for blower belt drives, but I haven't tried them. They're obviously tiny elastic bands, but they might work especially seeing as you have pinned in the belt drive, it should be strong enough for the tension. I have tons of them, if you want any to try just shout. -

It came out really well Mitch, those wheels are much better. Looks like something Fangio would have driven on the Pan American

Belkits Ford Escort Rs 1600 Mk1 Rally
dublin boy replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
James, you know well what Pond I'm talking about I could of just said they cost €50 here in Dublin, and I really would expect full detail for that. Please don't get me wrong,I'm just dissapointed, that's all. The existing kits are very nice, even if I'm not interested in modern rally cars. I am happy it's coming out and will certainly buy one, and will probably do it as one of Alan Mann's gorgeous gold and red circuit cars. -
Belkits Ford Escort Rs 1600 Mk1 Rally
dublin boy replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Finally a Mk 1 Escort, but.... Belkits existing rally cars retail for almost 60 US Dollars this side of the Pond, judging by the above 3D drawing it's very detailed, but there's no opening bonnet/hood and no engine which is ridiculous for that kind of money. The Esci/Revell Mk2 BDA engine is wrong, the Tamiya Europa twin cam might work, but the gearbox is wrong and both are very difficult to get anyway. To say I'm dissapointed is an understatement. -
The engine bay needs to be built up, it's not molded into the shell. This is going together well so far, at least as good as a Tamiya. The distrubutor is really tiny, so it's not wired, still needs to be tidied up a bit though.
