  1. I had about 95 hp in the Supersport, it was a bit of an animal for a bored out 1300, lumpy camshaft, twin 40's, much faster than a 1600 XR2. 130hp in a Mk1 Fiesta would be wild, they weigh about 700 and something kg I've seen one converted to RWD, it's the only way to get a Pinto in it! The later CVH engine has been used in them from more modern Turbo versions of the Escort with a five speed box that means cutting the chassis rails which is difficult.
  2. I had a Supersport Fiesta back in the day, 1300 Kent engine. It was a teaser for the XR2 which you guys didn't get either.
  3. We had 1600 ohv Kent and 1600cc OHC Pinto engines over here at the same time, A Mk2 Escort Sport had the 1600 ohv while the Mexico had a 1600 Pinto. It can get confusing, but the OHC and ohv are completly different.
  4. The Pre crossflow and Kent are ohv engines that share nothing in common with the OHC Pinto engines, it's that simple, all the SOHC engines are called Pinto engines over here. The US market Mk`1 fiesta had a 1600cc ohv Kent engine.
  5. It's obviously the pre-crossflow engine guys! The intake and exhaust are on the same side, this is a 1340cc engine, the Cortina Mk1 GT had a 1500cc version. The crossflows are generally called the Kent engine, 1100,1300 and 1600cc. The Pinto was just that, the US Pinto 2 litre OHC engine, as per millions of Cortinas, Capris and Granadas, oh and the RS2000 mK1 and 2. Edit, the Pinto was available as a 1.6 litre too.
  6. What eveyone forgets is Top Gear has been around for years before Clarkson, I think William Woodard used to present it with Angela Rippon and Noel Edwards. Mind you it was a bit boring back then. LOL
  7. Apparantly he had a go at Oisin's Irish background too during his rant. I'd have punched him straight back. Twice. He had a show years ago like Parkinson or Leno where he interviewed guest celebs, it was pretty bad and didn't last. Mind you, he'll keep going, he generates a lot of money.
  8. I've been to the Goodwood Revival twice, all pre 1966 racing cars. It's fantastic standing behind a Ferrari 250 SWB V-12 when the guy starts it up! The racing is full on, they don't take any prisoners even in multi million dollar cars. It's busier and more expensive these days but it's recommended.
  9. The Cats! Haven't been down there for a while, is Langtons still going? Used to be a great pub, I had a Kilkenny girlfriend back in the day. LOL
  10. For model number four that looks great William. Whereabouts are you from?
  11. The rear end of the clay model has a touch of the earlier C-V8.
  12. Very nice Jonathan.
  13. Thanks Stephen.
  14. I suppose you're making a good point in general Frank. I'm not sure of the price points over there, but let's assume the US Revell kits are the same price as the old AMT Cougar. You could walk out of the store with something like the Revell 49 Merc which is almost shake and bake, pour some glue and paint into the box, shake it around and out comes a beautiful kit, not quite so with the Cougar, which would naturally dissapoint. It's easy for us that have built the Cougar many years ago to say 'oh well, you should have known better' etc, but how would you know how if you were not very involved in the hobby and didn't watch model car forums?
  15. Thanks JC. Any news on the Escort?
  16. I had to send it out to get it lowered. I think the guys got it a bit too low, but it's staying
  17. I seem to be the only one having problems with the ride height of this kit.
  18. Aido, Domestos will take off most chrome, it literally dissapears. On the odd occasion it doesn't work (I think it was an ancient Revell heavily plated Parts Pack engine) use Caustic Soda, just protect your mince pies and be sure to add Caustic Soda to the water and not the other way round. Shay.
  19. You won't have any problem with kits built or unbuilt within Europe at least, I rarely come home without a kit, you're allowed to carry liquids in hand luggage as long as it's not more than 100 ml, so you can bring paint and glue. It all has to fit in a small clear plastic bag though. I 've brought Tamiya rattle cans twice, first time was no problem, second time it was until I expained I was just at a show, had a bag full of kits, and it was sealed and was proper modeling paint that was expensive, not something from a 2 for a dollar shop. I had to fight my corner that time though.
  20. How did you file down the p/e without damaging it? I assume sanding the lens to fit wasn't going to work out properly.
  21. Looking good JC. Here's your perfect Service Van
  22. So this is where Harry gets his 'real or model' pictures from. LOL I didn't realise Pocher were making modern car kits. Great work Alex, I love the Aldi shopping bag
  23. Matt what exactly did you use for 'oxide paint sealer' And where did you get it? Red bleed through can be persistant sometimes, especially with a clear coat as you said. I recently started a Mustang molded in red and wanted to paint it white, I didn't even try... Shay.
