Here's some more work. I painted the Roll Cage silver, and added some Roll Bar Padding, it's made from Tamiya Masking Tape. I built seat belts too, Simpson Logos are still missing, but I'm trying to install them tomorrow. I had to cut a hole to the seat, for one belt. I wanted to replicate Wrap Around belts, not Bolt On type. Those are installed just like real WrapAround seat belts. Not easy to do, but I'm quite happy about the result. Also glued the Door panels, which have decals and details painted now, also panel lines are black, but they didn't turn out as good as I wanted. Dashboard decals are on too, and Door Panels & Dashboard are glued on their place. I have to add Tachometer, and Switch Panel yet.

Good job on Vintage NASCAR Racer. These are always nice to see. You did great job with this Galaxie. Paint, details, decals, parts fit etc. are looking terrific. Good job with this. I have to build something like this too, so I can use my Plastic Performance Products' wheels and tires.

Studebaker fuel coupe ? Updated 8-10-12
W-409 replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Looks good. Very interesting build, too. I really like the chassis detail, little adjusting on the wheel base, and it'll look Killer. -
Aurora VooDoo Vega build updated 9/18/2012
W-409 replied to ratnasty's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Good Job! Vega is shaping up nicely, this will look great when completed. Lots of work, but you're doing good job. -
It's really shame that this Reissue is so bad quality, and I mean the parts count. Otherwise this would be Must Have kit for me. Is there better quality kit of '59 Caddy "Wagon"/Hearse etc.? You're doing very good job on this one. Interesting build, I'll be watching.

Heh, that sounds typical for me. Great job with Edsel, beautiful paint. Very smooth and shiny paint, as always in your builds. Can't see any fit issues from here, you did great job with my Favorite FoMoCo product from the 50's.

The frame looks fantastic, Clay! Looks like everything is on their place, and very well finished. I can't see that some tubing wouldn't fit nicely to other tubing, which is the problem in my Tube frames, and now when painted the frame looks even better than it did in plastic.

Cool build of great subject. I like these Old Dragsters, you did awesome job with this one. I like the details on this one. Excellent build.

WOW!!!!! How is this even possible?! Incredible work, Bill. Cylinder Heads, Valve Covers and engine Block look just like real parts. Great job, I will watch this one very closely. B)

Model Cars worldwide...
W-409 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Okay. I'm from Vantaa, Finland. I've lived here all my life. If someone thinks that there are not Hobby Shops, or Model Kits in Finland, you're wrong. Almost all kits, I buy are bought from Finland, only a few kits need to be ordered from Model Express. And we have lots of 1:1 American Cars here in Finland too, so it's not only Model Kits. http://tapahtumakuvia.kuvat.fi/kuvat/ -
Great Studebaker. I really like the over all look, and stance. This is the thing, I would build from Avanti too, so the subject is interesting, too. Great job.

Interior work... The floor part needed some work, I had to remove the locators for rear seat. After little putty, I primered the floor, and painted flat black. I also painted the dashboard, door panels and seats are white. I wanted to make white interior, because black is seen so often, and I actually like white Interior on Blue car (Yep, this'll be Blue). Also modified the roll cage, now it's the same as NHRA minimum reguirement. It's bit rough still, but after I sand that putty smooth and cover it with paint, it'll look good. Tomorrow I'm planning to move on Interior details, this is just a Mock Up. Little Chassis work too:

Let's talk PAINT and PRIMER
W-409 replied to FatManScaleDesigns's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Airbrush is not a "Must Have" equipment. I have painted many, many bodies with spray can paints, and they turn out well too. I have to say that spray can paint is as good as Airbrushed paint, after clearcoat and polishing. There is not a big difference. I can't say what Spray Paint to use, since we have different paints here in Finland than you have there. -
Turned out GREAT. Amazing work all over, I enjoyed very much watching this come together. You did great job with replicating Aluminium, Flames looks awesome, too. Detailing is perfect, as always. Amazing job, as always, John. Thanx for sharing this one.

Thanks, Aaron. This kit doesn't have any optional parts, like the wheels and tires. But they can be kitbashed too, maybe Lindberg '64 Belvedere has correct wheels for this? I don't know, I'm not Mopar Expert...
-
Oh, thanks for the comments everyone! I'm bit late with the thanks, but somehow I missed them. This kit comes with this Super Stock Hemi only, but of course it can be kitbashed...

I don't know where those Valve Covers are from, or are they from Big Block or Small Block, but in 1:1 Scale there are SBC Valve Covers, what look just like that. I guess there's one pair of them still in the garage. You're doing great job on this! Engine looks very good, and the body design is great. I have one Monkees Mobile too, I got it free while back. Maybe something like this would get me going.

Dreaming of a model?
W-409 replied to jmpsebring's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd like to get a Model Kit of Edsel Bermuda '58. AMT 2 In 1 Kit would include some Custom parts too, that would be great to have... Other one what would be very interesting, is Chevrolet Malibu Classic. Great basis for Street Rat style build, or Stock Eliminator Drag Racer. And '63 Impala Z11 would be very interesting, too. This kit would be great basis for other '63 Chevy builds, since I've heard that Revell's body is not correct shape, and AMT's only good part is the body. -
The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
The Top of My Hornet is painted White. It turned out pretty good, but when I took masking tapes off, I saw that there had been little "Leak" and now I need to do little fixing with blue paint. Luckily that white paint will be covered mostly with BMF, only little blue paint touch is needed. I will clearcoat the body soon. -
Thanks Steve, here's a little update. I scratchbuilt Electric Water Pump, which is made from square styrene tubing and little piece of round styrene tubing. I'm pretty happy about the result. Well, could be better of course but good enough for me.
-
Thanks Carl, And Brett! Not Much done, but I got the body polished. I'm pretty happy about the result, even if I couldn't polish other than the roof and trunk lid. That's because there are many decals on the sides of that car, and I didn't want to risk them with polishing - I just waxed those places. But otherwise I'm quite happy, hood needs to be polished yet, but I need to paint it first. I don't know why, but many times I forget to paint the hood at the same time, when I'm painting the body. Started Making Brake Lines, too. Anyway I don't have pics of them yet, but I had to do a little Mock Up.

Absolutely Great work. Everything looks so clean and nice, especially the paint job. Good tire and wheel choice too. Beautiful TransAm.

My first ever attempt at scratchbuilding. Upcoming rebuild.
W-409 replied to dimebolt's topic in Model Cars
Well this is cool! Excellent details and nice paintjob too. Wheels and tires fit nicely, this is just like 1:1 Barracuda Super Stocker. Can't wait to see more. Here's Finnish Hemi Barracuda Super Stocker for inspiration:
