  1. Thanks for all the tips, I actually printed out and saved most of that when you posted it over a decade ago for future reference. Ive got a notebook of nothing but model truck conversion, tips and other info. You probably don't remember any of my old work as its been a coon age, but nothing was ever box stuff. The razor saw and parts box were my go to sources. Ive got all the pieces for the torsion bar except that on piece that took a different route when I moved. Worse case scenario I can scratch build one. I always appreciated your info as you have done the research so many of us can just build. Thanks for looking in and commenting. I love those snap kits - the possibilities are endless with them here is a couple pics of one I sawed up😄 That paint scheme was actually from a truck featured in the show "Movin On." The mudflaps were not...
  2. The work I'm doing besides getting them to move on their own power consists of replacing rusted areas with patch panels (minimal here in Montana) repairing dents, replacing bad body work ect ect . Cleaning and re seaming body panels, interiors are getting new headliners, carpet and seat upholstery. Engines are freshened up with the heads redone, new gaskets all around and auto trans are getting B&M shift kits. He keeps me busy. Our mission is to take these neglected , stripped of parts and turn them back into affordable drivers for those who love the muscle car era but can not afford a full resto car ( think military pay). Getting them back on the road is whats important.
  3. Now this is his collection of Mopar's that Ive been assigned to turn back into daily drivers. Not doing full on restorations but getting them back to where he can sell them to his service buddies and they can drive them and tinker with them as they like. Yellow Challenger 74 with 360 auto , 72 Charger 440 Auto, 72 Challenger 440 4 spd, 72 Cuda 340 Auto
  4. I went through this topic from page one, there are a lot of nice projects posted. Big cars and model cars have been a part of my life since I was a teen. Started in Jr High pestering the librarian if the newest issue of Car Craft or Hot Rod magazine was in. I currently have a yard full of project cars that belong to my son who is currently serving in the US Navy. He remembers all the different cars and playing in them as he was growing up. I thought I was done with the 1/1 but he had different plans for me. The 70 1/2 Camaro I built when living outside of Las Vegas as my defiance to the Honda Civics zooming by our house on a daily occurrence. He was in elementary school at that time.
  5. Wow - upon first looking at this Id sworn it was a r/c boat with dressed up two stroke engines. Your level of detail and painting is top notch !!
  6. I really like the name - perfect! 😄👍 Nice looking fuel tanks..
  7. I vote round, flat fenders are normally affiliated with chipped up / rusty white wheels and day cabs. Not nice looking polished wheels from the construction company's Ive seen. My two cents
  8. Truck Freight from "Classic Industries" for the '69 Firebird ! (the cut wrap and box was done by me to check behind the dented cardboard to make sure there was no damage)
  9. I went and checked all my 1/24 kits , nothing at all for Crager's but the 1/25 kits have a good selection. If you are to a compromise best 1/24 skinny and a bit wider would be the Revell '66 Malibu SS but they are Centerline aluminum wheels
  10. Awesome car and a nice addition to your collection of 1/4 mile'ers !
  11. Good on keeping it original - my temptation would be to strong to resist sawing that sleeper off I think you guys have cornered the 1/32 truck market on this forum...
  12. Hakan you are correct, I goofed on the original post but corrected it - hey least I had the right diagram ! I prefer the AMT kits, I never cared for the Revell trucks as I don't like their frames. While they may be more realistic they seem pretty flimsy.
  13. Howdy This truck is only in the planning stage right now - but I'm looking for help to find a part I need for the torsion bar suspension. Please see attached copy of instruction sheet, the piece I need is circled in red on one side and a red arrow on opposite. I don't care if its left or right as I I doubt the housing has the lug. If you have the broken remnant of "Torsion Bar" suspension with that piece would be ideal - I'm against robbing a perfectly good setup. The kit I will be using will be the AMT Alaskan Hauler as It still comes with the W925 hood. This will be my version of Sonny's truck I seen at a model show back in 1980 or so.
  14. That looks great, the metallic green and the flames really make this stand out. I like to see these older kits built up. Ive ordered from Jim in Ohio and Fred from NY, they both were good to deal with.
  15. Fabulous looking Hayes, I really like it when models are built to the vision of the holder and not the manufacturer. It makes me even happier this was sold with 'Coke" livery - those kits should be 1/2 price in my mind since they have a sponsor!! You've added a ton of detail that really makes this truck stand out. Thanks for letting us follow along on the journey, its even better with the back story.
  16. Yes ! Congratulations on getting the gremlins beat down and chased away. Looking forward to the finished pictures!!
  17. That is a awesome build and what a great reference that magazine was. I followed your lead and found a lot of those magazines on ebay - I'm a book / magazine user more than the internet. Thanks for showing this fine build and sharing the reference material. Ive got a resin altered wheelbase kit with a Ross Gibson Hemi waiting to see time on the bench.
  18. Very nice, the carbs, linkage and air cleaners look very real on this.
  19. This turned out great, the vinyl top really caught my eye.
  20. Jeff those are all great, and many of them have been on my "want to build" list. I always liked the Wally Booth camaro! You've had a productive Thanksgiving.
  21. Mine were old flying model rocket kits , Centuri Little Joe, Estes Mars Lander and yes I built them and flew them!
  22. Wow - that is spectacular to see a cable drive dozer built. As with all your models your level of detail is top notch. My dad had one very similar and a cable drive D-2 loader, he didn't believe in anything modern such as an electric start. It was "pony engines" or nothing.
  23. We live between two neighbors who go overboard with the LED's , one asked me last year how we liked their lights. I told her it was like living between two strip clubs in Las Vegas. She hasn't spoken to us since !
  24. What a looker, those old cars has such style.
  25. What isn't there to like about this project, anytime a razor saw is involved its gonna be good. Lee you've done a great job on this eye catching wrecker !
