  1. Wow, all that shopping and progress in an hour and a half. Dude your out of control!
  2. It is a world market and this is a reflection of that. All businesses are in business to make money. None of them intend to lose money reguardless of what they sell or do to get it. If you can manufacture something cheaper someplace else would you. Every move has its pros and cons, so who's fault is it that the costs are so high. Look at Detroit, that city is bankrupt and was the auto Capitol of America.
  3. I'm just wondering if the molded in road runner badges are back on the body. They were there on the early issues but were removed from later reissues.
  4. This 71 Charger kit is a great kit and I would like to see a modified release into another year Charger Like a 72 Charger Ralley. I know it has been released a few time and I have bought about 10 of them or more. I built two mostly out of the box. I'm kit bashing another one with a MPC 72 Charger and have finished a 73 Charger Ralley kit bash. I also plan to build a 74 Charger, 71 Road Runner, 71 Superbird with this donor kit.
  5. Having kit bashed a few of these. I can tell you that the original MPC interior tub would need clearancing, The chassis plate needs to be modified to fit inside the body. And the body would need to be modified for the engine compartment to be molded in. So from AMT's standpoint they would need to tool up a new body for the engine compartment. A new interior tub to fit the chassis, Or retool the 71 Chargers interior for a Road Runner interior that would fit the new body. Plus tool up a new chassis to fit inside the new body. The only parts that would not need any tooling mods would be the drivetrain, suspension and most of the exhaust. Tailpipes would need to be modified. In my opinion it would be best to restore the old tool. Or go all new tool since 80% of it would have to be new.
  6. I'm really excited about this kit. I don't know how many I will buy but Here are some that I already built.
  7. Here are some box art pics of the 68 and 69 Javelin kits. These are the thin boxes they used back then. I searched for years before I finally got the 68 Javelin kit pictured. It is so hard to find a built one that was not built as the funny car!! This is the 69 kit. This is the 68 Kit. I thought the interest was there for these kits but as much as I love them. I think the collectors want them more than the builders do.
  8. I never found anyone casting the 71/72 body. Or anyone casting the more common 73/74 Javelin kit. I bought most of my 73/74s off eBay and paid around $40 each. Less than a resin kit. I did eventually score two 71/72 bodies and got the chrome from Modelhaus. I did cast a few kits and parts for the 68 and 69 Javelin. I cast them because I only had enough parts to make one and I wanted to build all three years 68-70. Those kits on eBay sell for over $100 normally and rarely come up for sale. The parts I cast are all sold out and I don't plan to cast any more, sorry.
  9. I love to see AMC's built. I build mainly muscle cars and have many AMC projects. I have finished a 70 Rebel Machine and three Javelin AMX's (71, 72 and a 73).
  10. Wow somebody else owed a 71 Sport Suburban! Mine now has a 440 and gets 9 mpg. Plus I have to lay on my back and get the #7 spark plug from underneath and that is with the factory Super Comando manifolds. It's big but is not as roomy under hood. My 99 S10 xtreme has the 4.3 v6. Those spark plugs are a pain but not as bad as the starter. The worst job that I did on this truck was the intake gaskets. Two bolts are under the ac compressor. It's bracket also holds the ps pump and to move it forward you have to remove most of the belt system. Plus any of the bolts that thread into the block are sae. All other bolts are metric.
  11. I would love to see this kit restored. Here is my builds based on resin kits. I'm not 100% sure but I think this one was from Motor City Resin but I got it so long ago. I used the AMT 68 Roadrunner for the chassis and engine. This one started out as a Modelhaus kit that I converted from a Coronet RT to a Super Bee. Also used AMT 69 GTX for a 383 version.
  12. I don't keep a tab and maybe I don't want to know. We build for the enjoyment and some subjects just cost more. Most of my builds are box stock muscle so many are finished under $40 including the kit. I know I have some rare kits the I will have over $200 in when done but those are few and far between. Many of them will have aftermarket decals and correct paint and clear. Those builds I know will have about $30 just in those items alone. Many of my restoration projects have extra costs that I know I will have. I get many of the parts rechromed. I usually mount up two racks of chrome items at a cost of $65. Most of the time it is about 10 models worth of stuff averaging out to 6.50 a project. Many are just the bumpers and wheels but more recently I sent out Johan Marlin parts that were twice as many. Many of my rebuilders cost between $40 to $50 just to buy. Some cost me a lot more but that is because of the subject. A real nice stock built up 68 Impala $80 missing nothing.
  13. I love these cars and they are a blast to drive if built right. I really like when they keep all of the factory appearance with the modern performance and drivability. What is the most difficult is the custom body mods are difficult to pull off right. Keep the body as stock as possible and get the stance right. Modern colors in vintage stripes work great. What I can't stand is Mustang Shelby style stripes on a Chevelle, or Bumble Bee stripes on a Camaro.
  14. Note, Kevin is Missing Link Resin.
  15. Very nice. I scored one of these and need to redo the chrome. I will be building mine as well. Love building these older kits. Great job.
  16. I have always loved this kit and have built many. The earlier versions had the emblems cast on and later one didn't. I hope the emblems reappear. This is also a great parts kit for updating many of the older MPC and Johan B body mopars. That is why I have so many of them. I evenly built one as a 68 GTX and a 69 Roadrunner 440 6 BBL.
  17. That future is amazing! I need to try that!
  18. I think it would sell well. And I also agree that that plan is a good one. I would buy all versions released and maybe a few more. As it is I have all versions of the Revell 427 cobra, one AMT 289 cobra, plus I do have the HRM Daytona Coupe.
  19. Not from the factory. That hood was for the R/T only and is the base hood with the Shaker as optional. The 6 was not available in the R/T.
  20. So your price just went up? LOL
  21. Not only is he slow to reply he is also slow to ship. It may take a year or more to get what you want.
  22. I have a resin one from Jimmy Flinstone that came with decals too.
  23. These cars are cool, but last I heard he has all but one car, the 70 Cuda, I remember reading that he has found it but the owner would not sell it.
  24. ontact Greg Wann. He is post 54.
