High octane

Going out to lunch at Red Lobster with my better half, my daughter, and our grandson today. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday that she had the other day. A big bill for lunch, but the good time was "priceless."

Yes I went camping back when I was a Boy Scout, and then later on when I was a Boy Scout Leader, but NO more. It was great fun while it lasted. Sounds like your daughter is enjoying herself, and paying her bills too which is great.

I myself wait 'bout 20 minutes in between coats, but I'm sure only 15 minutes would work just fine also.

I already have one of those AMT '29 Model A's in my stash, so I'm good to go. Sending a ship through the Panama Canal is VERY expensive.

I hafta agree in this "Hurray for me, FY world" that a lot of drivers brush the snow off the windshield and nothing else. Driving off without proper visibility and a who cares attitude.

Stop Light Racing has died a LONG time ago, and it would NEVER be the same today no matter what two cars are at the light. Been there, done that.

We got a light dusting of snow this morning, something that my leaf blower took care of and we have "frigid" temps coming for Wed. & Thurs. I'm already starting to think of the upcoming cars shows and cruise nights.

Back in the early 60's we had this hobby shop that would open and let us see the contents of the AMT annual kits before we bought them. They also let us charge or put that kit "on the cuff" and we would pay some or all of it when we got the moolah.

Last I heard from the owner of Galaxie Limited was in the 2nd quarter of THIS year, however there is a Longshoreman's strike on the west coast, and that may delay things here in the states. We'll see?

It'll be awhile before the ice cream truck goes by my house, quite awhile.

I saw the doc today, and he didn't say I was dying which pleased me. Just increased my meds and added more. Whatever works, I hope!

I wouldn't count on the '29 Ford kit anytime soon, and yes I have PLENTY to build until then. How 'bout you?

I hafta agree with your line of thinking AFX, even though I'm not a "numbers matching" purist I am definitely Day 2 "old school."

I do the same as Richard. I use 5 Minute Epoxy to glue my wires in place and the next day I use a toothpick to push down on the wires to cause a natural lookin' drape.

I think that my wife would be "totally BORED" if she ever went to a swap meet with me. I go with da guys, we have coffee on the way there, and usually stop for lunch at Hooters or The Tilted Kilt on the way back. Lots of laughs in between.

Glad to hear that you had spent some quality time with your grandkids Papa. My grandson is still a bit young for model cars yet.

While a lot of builders put in a lot of detail and some of their models actually look real, that is not for everybody. Everybody does not possess all the skills needed, everybody does not want to do all that scratch building, everybody does not want to put in that much time into a model, etc. \Enough for me is when I'm in my own "comfort level," otherwise I don't see this hobby being fun.

Spring is definitely in the air, just not around here in the Midwest.

It's "fake" and even Gold Rush is scripted but I enjoy watching it as I was in Alaska last summer. I could never live "off grid" as they don't have newspaper or pizza delivery out in the wilderness.

Only ONE more week 'til this show, and I hope to see some of you guys there. While I need nothing but "motivation," who knows what I'll find on the vendors tables?
