Michaels getting rid of models?
bobthehobbyguy replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Costco has had someone check your purchases for years when you leave the store. And in a lot of cases they are pushing the customers in that direction. Limited in store stock. Lock everything up and not have enough employees with keys. There are lots of advantages to fewer or limited size stores. No rents, they need less employees. More centralized inventory. The attempt to reduce the number of clerks with self checkout has not been the win the stores had hoped. Higher shrinkage do to unintended customer mistakes and intentional shrinkage by the outright thieves. -
Hope you are feeling better today Carl.

Johan 1955, Powell pickup
bobthehobbyguy replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
A d back to the subject of the Powell. I suspect it is safe to say that at the this point in time the Powell is dead in the water as we haven't heard anything in months. -
Correctly answering all the questions on a test will get you 100 percent.

Again and again I keep doing the same thing and the outcome never changes.

Acceptance of 3D printed models?
bobthehobbyguy replied to jdhog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think there will always be a group who resists accepting change. They've always done things one way and are not open minded enough to see the possibilities of new technology. When aftermarket parts became more readily available there was a cry that it was checkbook modeling and was going to ruin the hobby. -
Acceptance of 3D printed models?
bobthehobbyguy replied to jdhog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good points. I think one thing that is missed is how the judging process works. Contests are judged on fundamentals. Clean assembly and well executed paint. You can scratchbuild all the parts, add every photoetch and detailing accessory but if the finish is bad or there are other flaws the model is not going to be a contender. -
Got back out of the hospital on Wednesday. Down to approx 240 from 299 lb(Jan 2). Beginning to feel a lot better as things improve. Besides having more energy i can get shoes and socks on without it being such a fight. Looking forward to getting some bench time in.

This week started off with a trip back to the hospital on Monday. Because of the edema I have been having to take a lot of Lasix to get rid of the excess water. It is a tricky balance becuase the Lasix are hard on the kidneys however the edema has its negative effects on the body. My cardiologist wanted to have my kidney functions monitored and still be able to get improvement with the edema.
