Friendly loveable Squirrels..
bobthehobbyguy replied to A modeler named mike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
In the case of the lady attacked by the squirrel this is what happened when you start feeding them too much. The lady before her established a dependency on food. That's why I don't feed them. They gather food for the winter months. The squirrels schred a lot of pine cones to store food before winter. I can get a feel of when winter will start by this activity. -

Looks like you've come up with a good plan to salvage this project. As far as resin bodies go you need to stay away from slush cast bodies. Bodies done with 2 part molds are much more stable. That was how Don Houlhaus did his bodies and I never heard of anyone complaining of warpage. -
Issue 222
bobthehobbyguy replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
A friend of mine lives in Millbrae ,CA. I got my issue early December. He asked me to put in a request for a replacement in early January. I did so. On January 11 he said he got his copy. I thought it was his replacement copy but it was his original. Fortunately the replacement copy hadn't been sent out. Dave told me the magazine were mailed on November 11th. His copied was in the postal system for 2 months. -
NEW GOOGLE/CHROME RELATED GLITCHES

I believe I can provide some inside on this. There has been several big discoveries that allow computers and phone to be compromised. You can thank the banks for creating all of the online banking which is a opportunity for stealing lots of money. I has been common practice to use a key block of code called a library rather than each program having it own version. On the plus side it makes it easier to maintain however the down side is when it there is an issue lots of programs can be compromised. This recent weakness can affect iPhone, Android phones, and most browsers. The end result is that there has been a scramble to fix the issues and not break anything else. In this situation they may be fine tuning the changes. Hope I was able to shed some light on this. -

Nice. When you said you had an oval drill bit I wouldn't have doubted you. This is a great how to turn a wheel tutorial. Do you use one 3 jaw chuck or do you have one for each wheel to do the operations on each at the same time. -
I have been dealing with round 3 of this. First time around was one of my meds was causing the edema. I had the same type of. Reaching issues becuase of my copd. Had some fluid in lungs. I knew my weight gain was not from over eating. For round 2 I didn't have the breathing issues but my feet were real puffy and ankles couldn't be seen. That turned out to be a result of a mild bleeding ulcer caused by low dose aspirin since my heart attack in 2014. My primary realized that becuase he'd had another patient with the same issue. No blood in stool or urine and no stomach related issues. Getting off the aspirin helped. Latest has been back to breathing issues becuase of the water retention. The stay at the hospital and the extra strength.lasix are definitely helping. However it is something that will take time. If this is done too quickly I will have a other set of problems.

Unfortunately too many people don't think about the impact of their actions on others. Sounds like you've gotten a long covid case. I wish you and your wife a speedy recovery.

So yesterday I got out of the hospital. My health issue have improved. From Jan 2 till Jan 18 my weight dropped from 299 to 282. I need to get back down to around 210-215 ; I was feeling really good then. Definitely happy to be home and away from the chaos of the hosipital.

My irk was from last week. I ended up in the hospital Thursday. I was slow to getting an issue with severe edemahospital. Taken care of(I had a weight gain of 70 pounds that was from water retention in a period of 3 months). That really throws the body out of wack. Being that waterlogged messes up ones sodium balance which can be a big problem. Definitely need to be more diligent in the future and avoid making that mistake again.

Why is my clear coat coming out textured?
bobthehobbyguy replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is exactly why risking the use of hardware store paints isn't worth it ;it's bad enough to have to strip paint, however if there is a large amount of body work you will end up redoing most of it if you have to strip the paint. -
Why is my clear coat coming out textured?
bobthehobbyguy replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Exactly. Besides for most bench time is limited. Why would you want to waste your time having to strip a bad paint job? And even if you invest a lot of time getting Rustoleum and other cheap paints to work you will be back to square one when they change their paint formulation. In addition Rustoleum is notorious for going on thick which will obscure detail and not drying. I just can't see how it is worthwhile using an inferior paint to save a little bit of money in the long run. -
How to strip Tamiya TS paint?
bobthehobbyguy replied to 10543Modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
@10543Modeler There are lots of good tips on stripping Tamiya paint. However the best solution is not to have to. Why were you unhappy withe the paint? Did you do something different from your normal routine? I think it is very important to understand what the issue was. -
What kits did these slicks come from
bobthehobbyguy replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The ones on the right are AMT however they are from early kits; I can't think of any current kits that they come in. They did come in several widths and yes they are nice. -
Will you learn to think for yourself or just be another lemming.

History will repeat itself for those who fail to learn the lessons from it.

Why is my clear coat coming out textured?
bobthehobbyguy replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The difference is at least the Testor enamels are designed to be modeling paints. The biggest problem I see is when a bargin basement paint is used that if it's says it can be used on plastics. There is a wide variety of plastic types and those paints are not necessary disgned to work with them. You could use Hobby paints for painting your lawn furniture but you would be disappointed in the results becuase those paints are designed for that application. -

bobthehobbyguy replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There may be some that have some success but there is a constant stream of questions of why did my paint job go back. I agree with Bill with putting a lot of effort into making it work may allow you to get good results. However there are much better paints out there and that effort would be better applied to improving other aspects of your mo del building process. As Bill said you have to stick with one paint brand and type. Every manufacturer creates there own paint system of products that are designed to work together. Plus they will give additional information like recoat windows if necessary. Also if changes are made to the paint formulas they are going to make sure that there is compatibility in the paint system Finally until you master the art of painting stick with paints designed for plastic model kits. Then decide if you want to use automotive paints. Building a model with observing the basics like removing parting lines, sink marks, and ejection pins take time. Unless you are going to be building a lot of models you aren't going to be spending that much more on paint. -

I would say if you are going to use a solvent based putty then I would recommend it goes in the dehydrator before priming. I don't think that this is an issue with just the Tamiya putty it's an issue with any solvent based putty. As far as the bonds spot putty I would recommend using that for areas that need a little putty and not used for the type of depression. Hope this helps.
