  1. After having a problem with the Flintstone Sedan Delivery body, I put this back on the shelf. I pulled it back off in December to try and do something with it. Since I had already modified the interior for a sedan delivery, I decided to make this a custom shop wagon such as would be at a car show. A benefit is it made the interior mods more visible. Since I still had the original body, I did a mild customization to it and painted it Testor’s Electric Pink Lacquer covered with Wet Look Clear. For the interior, I used parts bin seats and detailed with: seat belts; used model railroad nails for door locks; and added some gear to the cargo area. Engine was fully detailed out with wiring and plumbing. I used the now out of business Detail Junkee’s air cleaner and valve cover PE set to dress up the engine and added some additional PE and a non-working dipstick. Chassis detail included fuel lines, brake lines and an emergency brake. I used the Molotow Liquid Chrome markers to touch up BMF and chrome tree parts. Still need to add the exhaust tips and that is that for this one.
  2. Okay. Here is the test shot we saw at our GTR November 2016 meeting. Sorry a couple are blurry. This one CANNOT BE BUILT STOCK.
  3. When they attended our last club meeting, they indicated late May, early June to us. The tooling was slower to get cut and approved and ran right into the Chinese New Year.
  4. It's really sad this kind of stuff happens. R&D Unique got twerked by more than one vendor on their detail parts. If I remember correctly, Dave even did a legal action against one.
  5. When IHOBBY was going on here, I would interview the plastic model companies on future offering "types". Although this was over three years ago, it likely won't change much. Four doors and lower range models have VERY limited market appeal, except in very limited circumstances. If you look at 4-door offerings, you have seen very little: 60's Continentals, 65-66 Chevelle Wagons, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, some SUV's and extended cab pickups as examples. Lower end models have also been limited and often when associated with some targeted area such as racing: 57 Chevy Black Widow; 56 Chevy Del Ray as examples. Japanese and European model manufacturers have different audiences and their offerings are primarily targeted towards their home markets. Many Aoshima and Fujimi four door models are Japanese market variants often with only right drive. Revell of Germany is coming out with a Porsche Panamera (I know High- end but a four door). And, in those cases, they do not have all the US NHTSA requirements in the kit. I did a Fujimi BMW M5 about 20 years ago that needed a lot of work to make it a US spec model. We on these boards represent a minute amount of the potential audience for kits, albeit we are definitely almost all in the enthusiast category. But it gets down to marketing choices and making a profit. Remember, any year may lead to only about 5 new offerings, and that would include major modification of an existing tool. So, would you rather have the recently released Ford Bronco or a Whatever. The model companies will chose the one market analysis says is most likely to sell. Also remember there is competition to the plastic model companies by the diecast makers. Each year, we all seem to prognosticate what the manufacturers will offer and then, once known, carp about them not fulfilling a niche or need we have. It never hurts to throw ideas out, but there are hundreds of ideas for every one chosen to be kitted. I look at it this way. If the manufacturers offerings don't "float my boat", I won't buy. I will be sad, but glad that at least some modelers are getting something exciting. If they hit my sweet spot, other modelers will likely not be happy.
  6. I have ordered from Steve multiple times and have always been satisfied. His service is First Rate!
  7. This is why I avoid Acu-Stion except for certain PE or metal parts and only after reviewed. I learned the hard way before and when the Yen was at a less favorable rate
  8. No 57 Chevy in my collection has front and rear bumper guards. Most have none at all, including all 1/25 Revell and AMT versions I have.
  9. He also mentioned the AMT 40 Ford kit when a real one came across the block. The Mecum guys do so as well.
  10. AMT 70 Chevrolet Impala
  11. They would be since pen blanks are wood or some polymer.
  12. Won't be until after I move. So, likely won't start it until late in the year
  13. Model Factory Hiro. It is a multi-media kit with a resin body and white metal pieces including hood. They are expensive and really require an experienced modeler who can work with resin and deal with any fitment issues. The Lusso is a Grail for me, so I popped for, especially with a modest discount.
  14. My last order of 2016 finally arrived today:
  15. The Monogram/Aurora DB4 (I have one down in the stash) is also 1/25 like the others in the series.
  16. And don't forget those that live in SHAKER country
  17. I am with Bill. I used to be in the "Don't Care if Yes or No" class until the early nineties when a kid at a model show pushed my model off the table. After that, it was "NEVER" Poseable is different, depends on the model
  18. Wait until you see the order I have coming in from Japan. I blew my 4th quarter modeling budget on that plus an order I already received
  19. Got this and the AMG GT preordered from Tower Hobbies
  20. Well I just got a notice from Hobby Link Japan that the Pagani Huayra is in and in my Private Warehouse. Time to get that and the rest of the stuff in there out from Japan
  21. The manifold area appears way too wide for a Small Block Chevy. Is that truncated cone at the back of the manifold supposed to reflect a distributor or magneto? Could it be an Olds engine from some early AMT kit?
  22. Nice. But I am thinking of homage to this one:
