  1. AMT NASCAR kits have a great 9 inch, and are cheap and plentiful.....
  2. I'm retired, either works....'Z'
  3. I buy those little 'childrens' paint brushes at Walmart ( packs of 30, about a buck fifty) and trim the bristles down to about a quarter inch in length. Much easier to handle than toothpicks, and quicker. I pour on the average of 16 wheels at a time, so speed is of the essence. I also use a spray mold release; baby powder is too slow, too messy, and sometimes leaves a 'cast look' surface on your resin part. It also seems to double the life of my molds.....I also found, when casting small pieces like wheels, the resin does not build up enough heat to cure completely. I pop my molds in a dehrydator for 15 minutes, and let cool before removing from the mold................'Z'
  4. Do they make shrink tubing that small ?....Hmmmm.
  5. Superglue will work. You might try laminating a thin (.010,.015 ) piece of sheet plastic behind the break for added structural strength.......'Z'
  6. I clean my airbrush with spray carb cleaner. Never had a problem yet..........'Z'
  7. My hands shake all the time, like the gunslinger in'BLAZING SADDLES' !........ you learn to compensate. I rest my left hand on my right arm / hand when doing detail work - and believe me when detailing a hundred lug nuts at a time is DETAIL WORK ! Same way with applying washes.....'Z'
  8. Modelhaus does these in a whitewall; whitewall pops out and could be painted black , tire is cast in soft black resin and whitewall is cast in hard white resin.....- other side of tire is black...I think they run $8.50 per set of 4......................'Z'
  9. try Machined Aluminium Specialties; he used to offer a really nice blower pulley / belt set
  10. You can clear ALCLAD if you use a waterbase / acrylic clear. Test on a piece of alcladded ( is that a word?) sprue, but it has worked for me..........'Z'
  11. Didn't make it. Woke up at 4 am with a full blown case of the FLU....'Z'
  12. I believe that is cast by Ron Andrews of Race motor Replicas............'Z'
  13. I DID make a call; they said all tables were reserved already ( 3 weeks ago)...I asked if there was room, I could bring my own table....simple !.......'Z'
  14. I will be there. I could not get a table either, but made arrangements to bring my own table; will have around 150 sets of custom wheel / tire packages.....Steven Zimmerman aka the'Z'man
  15. I like where this is going, GREAT lookin wheels !.....'Z'
  16. Reliable sources say Ruth has sold R&R. As to how much of what Ray owned, that is not known. If you have ever visited Ray's place, you would know that there is a LOT of stuff there. A LOT....And I mean a ....L O T.
  17. I believe that hood may have been done by Brian Nicewanger.
  18. Or use a small hand turned drill....
  19. I use the superglue bought at Walmart; 4 tubes for about a buck and a half, been using about a tube a week and it works just fine. I have found just about everything "GORILLA GLUE" markets is good stuff, if you just follow the directions.
  20. Early Iron series Monogram 34 Ford has parts to build as a ragtop, with both uptop and boot.....
  21. Great job and great details. A few things I'm unsure about. I think those rear trailing arms might bend where you mounted the airbags, a lot of stress on a small tube,.... and I would have gusseted the rear shock mounts, and also gusseted the upper mounts for the air bags? Possibly mounted the airbags where the rear shocks are, or as close to the rear axle as possible, maybe....Just a thought....'Z'
  22. Howdy, brother....the'Z'man....
  23. ...Then there's the two guys who tried to peel the airbrushed murals off my 69 Camaro with their thumbnails, swearing they were decals.....
  24. Just wondering, what do you dislike about the press in whitewalls? Modelhaus does a set based on the tires from the Revell 32 Fors series, that are fantastic. The whitewalls pop out, and a thin layer of superglue in the recess and they will never come loose. I use about a hundred sets of these a year and have never had a problem.....
  25. Great chop. For those of you who would rather not do all the work, RMR offers a chopped 41 Willys body with pie cut hood and laid back nose that utilizes the stock kit glass.........'Z'
