  1. Incredible ! Honestly looks like something that one would find in someone's back yard ; that diorama helps with the 'illusion' . Now , where to find good images of your photos ... ?
  2. It'll probably be some time before I get to that planned build , though I may at least polish its body soon ... I want to convert the L72 / ZL1 to an automatic , possibly even column-shift , but may go with a Hurst Dual Gate . Your polishing jobs are always so nice ! Should be interesting to see how that MPC , moulded-in-black 'Ray turns out !
  3. The '67 Chevelle that I'm polishing has a few swirls and such in its moulding , but I'm not going to let that deter me --- I just want to try something different (and , besides , it's a pain to spray paint anything when one lives in an apartment !) . The 1969 Z-28 that I bought is moulded in the same metallic blue ; it has an equal amount of swirls . My plans for that one are : as-moulded blue interior swapped-into the L72 / ZL1 COPO kit , whose white body will be polished .
  4. ENGINES : The 454 from the Phase III B-M Camaro ; Mark IV / TH-400 from the 1968 El Camino and 1970 Monte Carlo SS-454 ; 335-Series engine / transmission from the Phantom / Vantom Econoline ; 340 from the 1971 Duster ( include the pulley / belt arrangement from the Street Machine version ) ; 440 / 727 from the 1971 Charger R/T ... UNDER-HOOD PARTS : Various radiators , A/C compressors , brake master cylinders / power boosters ,wiper motors , alternators , etc. , etc. These would come in handy as additions to older kits which lack those details ! AXLES & DIFFERENTIALS : 12 Bolt from the '70 Camaro ; Oldsmobile / Pontiac assembly from the 1962 Catalina ; 8 3/4 from the '71 Duster and '71 Charger ; Ford 9" from ____________
  5. IIRC , the following pieces of equipment different from agency-to-agency : CHP 'Pursuit' models had the 255hp 440 ; roof and front door skins were "999" white . Some local agencies' models had the 195hp "E58" 360 . LAPD 'Patroller' models had the 170hp 318 four barrel / 727 / 9.25" diff. Both doors and roof were "999" white LASO 'Patroller' and 'Pursuit' models were equipped with either the 170hp 318 four barrel or 195hp 360 "E58" . Paint scheme was similar to CHP paint schemes . The turn signal lenses were amber for 1977 , per federal edict . LASO also used the then-new Nova 9C1 , which had the LM3 350 four barrel . Those 9C1 Nova models were , for all intents and purposes , four door sedan versions of the Z28 !
  6. Excellent ! No more ridiculous eBay prices ! I wonder if Round2 got rid of those deep dish wheels / circle track tyres ?
  7. It would seem that any time that factory-installed air conditioning was ordered , the clutched fan was mandated . Doubtful that the (dreaded) California emissions had much -- if anything -- to do with the presence or absence of a fan clutch . I'd imagine that any time that steep gearing was spec'ed ( 3.73 [Z-28] , 4.10 , 4.56 ) , that the clutch made an appearance as well ; same with Posi-Traction . The lack of a fan shroud is a bit of a 'mystery' to me (excepting , of course , the aforementioned L88 , which was a weight-saving concession) , as the point of a shroud is to direct air . A missing shroud = misdirected airflow (same with underhood seals) . Perhaps the crossflow Harrison radiator did away with the requisite shroud ? Pure speculation on my part . ___________________________________________________________________________ Thanks again for the input , info , and accompanying photos , everyone ! Looks like I'm going to retrofit the kit's 4-paddle fan for the fan / clutch from the parts box (e.g. , the Revell 'COPO' 1969 Nova) .
  8. The all-original 325hp with 3-speed and 3.08 Chevelle ! One of my favourites ; an immaculate time capsule . Doesn't get more original than that car . I've definitely seen the 6-7 paddle fan on '70 & later models (including a former coworker's '70 Nova SS-396 / 350hp) . Just seems like such weak sauce , especially considering the application .
  9. Been building the Revell 1967 SS-396 Chevelle , and am taking some liberties with its engine : I'm replicating an 'Aluminium' Head (think : L88 427) engine (not available from the factory in 1967) . One item stands out to me regarding the as-provided-by-Revell engine : the fan . Is that 4-paddle , direct-drive fan correct ? Perhaps the engine in the car which the model is based on was equipped with the base 325hp 396 , and was sans any axle ratio outside of the standard 3.08 / peg ? Either way , it doesn't look right to me . Shouldn't it be a 5-7 paddle fan with a clutch ? I'm fairly confident that the L78 , L71 , L72 , and L88 would have a 'real' fan . Input and images welcome !
  10. Splendid BS27H1B ! Right down to the blue 340 ( May 1971 & later ) ! Which kit did you source the Torqueflite from ?
  11. Not necessarily obscure , but definitely lesser-known : Judas Priest's first album 'Rocka~Rolla' and this opening track One for the Road . There are lots of gems on this album .
  12. That seems to be the most realistic explanation : the carlines you mentioned were "merely" victims of the economic times .
  13. "Upon further review ..." Those do look like they might be a "C5" or even "C6" ; can't be certain due to the angle / lighting on those manifolds ... Thanks for the refresher , HÃ¥kan
  14. Looks like the headers in the photo have a "C0AE" part number prefix : C = 1960's 0 = 1960 Forgotten what the "A" and "E" indicate , other than designated car line .
  15. RE : The 2-door wagon Chevelle : 1964 was the last year for the 2-door ( '300' and / or '300 Deluxe' ... certainly someone will hopefully provide the correct model / series here ) . No 2-door wagons for 1965 ... at least from the factory .
  16. I'd rather that Round2 ( or any organisation for this matter ) manufacture good quality products , than make some slick-slade snake oil video that's full of cow dung and empty promises . It's easy to shoot the messenger .
  17. Thanks for the info / link , Casey ! I have a bit of a fetish for those Odd-Fire V6's ... perhaps an F-85 Olds 2 door post of '64 , '65 vintage would love one under its bonnet !
  18. THAT is one of the best F1's I've ever seen ! I agree with Gaute (Atmobile) : looks much better without the (incorrect) whitewall tyres , and without the chromed bumper . That model looks impressively real !
  19. One of the biggest scams out here in good ol' California used to centre around emissions inspections . I'll avoid getting into that as it teeters dangerously-close to political stuff ... Avoid 99.99% of tyre stores , more-so the chain stores : rip off artists par excellence ! They -- whom shall remain unnamed -- quote prices by OEM replacement parts ! I've seen it ; quoting what Ford would charge ( I know Ford part numbers' prefixes very intimately ) , while using "aftermarket" parts (e.g. , Chinese garbage) . Many of these "repair" shop love to return 3-out-of-6 spark plugs ------ can't reach those firewall-side plugs , "technicians" ? Then there's the 'dartboard diagnosis' return items : " Well , this sensor didn't 'fix' the problem ..." I've lost count on how many "technicians" are actually "YouTube Mechanics" . I'd love to take a flamethrower to some of the shops I deal with !
  20. The El Camino , 1966-come-1967 , is a nifty conversion . I've seen the same on the wagon . I know about '67 being the first year for disc brakes for the A-bodies ; I was referring to the master cylinder in the kit . It looks like Corvette ( 4-wheel-disc ) piece ; like the aftermarket conversions which were popping up in the late 80's / early 90's . IIRC , the only way to get disc brakes in '67 was with the vacuum booster . I've seen the black-coloured Rally Wheels in the brochures , too . At first I thought that they were just an artistic representation , emphasising the centre caps and trim rings . But , owing to their stamped-steel construction , a semi-gloss black was likely the proposed finish vs. argent .
  21. Revell's renaissance period for sure . Those kits were a quantum leap ahead of their predecessors ! The only other change I'm planning on -- outside of the tyres / wheels , and *maybe* the engine from the B-M '70 Camaro -- is its brake master cylinder . The kit's piece is a Corvette-style , disc brake conversion piece ( willing to bet that the car that kit's based upon originally had 4-wheel-drums ) , which is "out-of-place" for my target-era . The parts box will yield the brake booster and master cylinder from the Revell 1969 Nova . Do you have the blue kit ( 1990 ) or the new(er) , moulded-in-white version ?
  22. Thanks , Rob . I couldn't tell by the images ; and , I assumed that this kit was the genesis of the Jeepster of c.1971 . The '65 wagon Superwagon is an elusive kit , price-wise -- even the c.1987 issue (yellow on the box) is a bit pricy for me .
  23. Looks like I'm going to have to dress-down the exaggerated peak on the tops of the front fenders some more ! They're an artifact of the moulding process ; no big deal . I'm working on the engine at the moment ; it's going to have 'L88' heads , aluminium intake , and maybe a gloss black oil pan . Heck , I might even use the engine from one of the Baldwin-Motion Camaro kits !
