Is it Red Oxide ? Scratch-Fill ? Those are, in es., "spot putty" that's been thinned for spraying. I don't know enough about which was "first" : putty or primer. I've seen spot putty thinned with lacquer thinner then sprayed, but I don't know of the chemistry behind it beyond what I've seen a handful of times.

The positive mounting points are one of the biggest improvements (i.e., the manner in which the exhaust manifolds or headers mount to the heads, for an instance). The decal sheet is outstanding; huge improvement over any MPC offering of that time ! Then there's the separate headlamp lenses (though I wish that there were two extra included, as I managed to lose one on my [mediocre] build), which are always better than moulded-in / plated offerings. Good call on the two extra front wheel mounting pins, too !

Lots of white knuckle "drivers" on I-15 in the Murrieta/Temecula stretch, all travelling to the casinos -- just sluggin' along in the number one lane at a mind-bending 60-65 MPH, not a care in the world. It's nice driving a beater ex-police car -- surprising low-mid range torque for passing the s_it heels who should be travelling in the far right lane(s) ONLY.

I'm of the opinion that the 1980's were responsible for ruining more Muscle Cars than the 1970's. So many over-restored / incorrectly "restored" cars from that era -- braided hoses, Pro Street, and, worse yet, original items/parts which were thrown away or plated-over, forever ruining their originality. I, too, enjoyed D.O.H. as a youth. I can't stand it these days -- really, since the mid-1980's as a teen. A friend-of-a-friend had (he sold it some 15 years ago) a 95% original 1969 Charger R/T 440 in factory Hemi Orange. He had to hide his car because of the clowns who were on him to sell it to that T.V. show. He knew how the cars were "treated", and told them to pound sand. And, this was during a (awful) period when a 10 year old car - in the stranglehold of the 1979-1980 OPEC crisis - wasn't worth the ground it sat upon.
