  1. Certainly I'm not alone here; I can do without 99% of those "features". I'm fine with backup assist camera (just one), the rest are poodle options.

  3. "Wildfire -- like a wildfire... that's how my upstart is going to spread.", is a translated-from-Hmong quote from Theranos's C.E.O.
  4. Air, heir, error apparent
  5. That's the first thing my mind goes to whenever I see any message/touch screen in a vehicle. My work vehicle was a 2012 Transient Van; I loved it about 97.6% of the time... then some asinine message would appear where the speedometre usually calls home ! T.P.M.S. (a false-positive 99% of the time), oil change, weather in Wuhan, etc., etc. I'd just install a business card or Post-It over the visually-intrusive message "warning", and keep my eyes on the analogue speedo/tach.
  6. Difficult for me to ascertain here -- are back-up lamps on those tail lamp assemblies ? 1965 model year had both until 01.01.1965.
  7. Offerings, burnt-in-nature, hath lent themselves to a film title (Burnt Offerings, 1976) and a song title (Burnt Offerings, 1981) with macabre themes
  8. I love it ! The white interior with red accents -- one of my favourite combos (like the Coronet Convertible I'd completed recently). Equally good call on the white vinyl top: subtle and classy at once.
  9. "If you're looking to get a good thing going for yourself..."
  10. Sharp looking Red Tabby !
  11. Horsepower ratings can appear underwhelming when compared to an engine's torque output, especially as it applies to diesel engines
  12. La Mirada Regional Park 10. Mai.2023 13h 45
  13. I love it when people get their knickers in a knot whenever they see or hear coyotes around here. Such hysteria and hyperbole ! One of me neighbours mentioned, "There's a bunch of coyote s__t everywhere !". So, I enquired as to how she knows for certain it's coyote s__t , to which she answered, "because [the coyotes] are here !". So, I asked how she knew it was coyotes' dung, and not from one of the countless dogs around whose caregivers don't clean up after. Then I said, "You can tell coyote dung apart from dog dung by its smell: coyote scat smells like bacon and maple syrup." I wonder if she ever got 'er sniffer close enough to give the spoils the sniff test ?
  14. Ostensibly, the kit's engine isn't stock to begin with -- the 427 SOHC should've been a custom option, as it's nowhere near stock (IIRC, the 390 was standard, with two versions of the unrelated-to-the-FE-series 429 as options). Can't go by those Racing Chumps era box art representations.
  15. More awesome offerings from the Land of the Rising Sun ! Thanks for sharing those photos.
  16. A gorgeous example of the last of the full-sized performance Fords : Big, Big Fun! - 1969 Ford XL GT | Hemmings
  17. Robots such as ED 209 are already here, taking society one step closer to the 6000 SUX
  18. I'm digging that six popper ! Is that from the 1951 Bel Air kit ? Nice Vice Grip Garage licence plates ! Haha !
  19. That's such a fun story ! Two bucks was a decent piece of cash in 1969 -- that'd be a carton of Marlboros and some change back. 1969 California state sales tax (from 1967-1969) was 5%.
  20. It looks like a 3.9 litre / 239 cube V6 , IMO. But, ne'er-the-less, the 340 from the AMT 1971 Duster 340 is an easy swap. I agree that it would be nice if Round2 were to create a separate 727 Torqueflite to mate to the AMT 340. That was done with the 1964 Olds 4-4-2 hardtop (in that instance, a 4-speed and other 4-4-2 specific items). Tooling for the 727 already exists in the 1971 Charger R/T; I've mated that to the 1971 340 on a few occasions, and it mated perfectly. Really, it's 'Muller-Era' kit to another kit of that era -- a cinch for even mediocre builders like myself. [EDIT/ Amendment] : The ThermoQuad was first applied to the 1971 model year 340. 1968-1970 had the Carter AVS. And, technically, the passenger-side exhaust manifold is different from 1971-1973, but only on the A-bodies (no clue as to why...). Then there are the subjective air cleaner assemblies, esp. for 1970-1971 : 4-speed = no snorkels , automatic = snorkels -- at least for the Dart-Duster-Demon.
  21. Here's a great article with excellent photos : 1965 Oldsmobile 442 & F-85 - Could Not Cut It Up (motortrend.com)
  22. After purchasing pre-sale tickets, and receiving notification that I'm prequalified for preapproval, I pre-heat the oven. Then I look at my next project and start assembling the rascal in the present-tense.
  23. "Tough'er 'an an Applebee's steak, he was !", added Artie Vanderloop during the wake for his friend
