And it will probably be $80 in a Hobby Shop. Subject matter is subjective, plenty of people wouldn't blink an eye to pay that much for a Modelhaus transkit, or a promo, or a vintage kit, or ten $8 Ollie's kits they already have 7 copies of...

This came up for Pre-Order on HobbyEasy this morning with an initial delivery date of 8/25 (take with the same grain of salt as any other initial release date). Price is $41.99, with the resin detail up set going for just under $14. Upon initial glance it appears that H.E. might be the low cost alternative on this one. But until 1999 (Hobby Search) or HLJ lists that's not gospel. However the ¥ is pretty strong right now (103 to 1) which makes the screaming deals we've been getting pretty much fade away.

Well if they were going to be sent out from South Bend yesterday (according to the earlier post), they better have made their boat ride already...

revell 4Q2016 Release Annoucement
niteowl7710 replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I bet he meant 150 Sedan, since you could build the Black Widow without the NASCAR parts as a base 150 as well. -
They gotta get the Huracan out first. There's a toy show in Malaysia (I believe) this weekend and it looks like they'll be showing the runners from some of the upcoming kits. I've seen the bodies and other parts trees for the Diablo GT and GTR, so I bet the Pagani will be in there too.

Round2 July 2016 Announcements
niteowl7710 replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's all fine and well, but that still doesn't make it any more accurate. Since one of the "new" releases for "July is 3 weeks on shelves already, and that SnapIt version of the Camaro is going to be molded in Garnet Red not black like the flyer says. Round2 has also been showing things on their FB and YouTube channel as new kits that haven't been distributed to retailers yet. It's not your fault in any way, but if it's not listed on the Auto World Store site, then Round2's guidance on releases is like a road map drawn in pencil with someone constantly erasing it and redrawing. -
Round2 July 2016 Announcements
niteowl7710 replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's an...interesting list to be called "July Releases"... The SnapIt Camaro is listed as an August release by Auto World Store. The puller has no official month yet, and the Petty car came out 2 weeks ago. -
The Tesla system isn't an "autonomous car", it's an "auto pilot". If you know anything about basic aviation you know an auto pilot can fly the plane at a given heading, airspeed, altitude, or Nav Point, or all of them at the same time. However unless you input a new heading, speed, or altitude it will fly the same way for infinity, or until it runs out of gas - think of Payne Stewart's plane when it lost cabin pressure and everyone passed away, it flew until it ran out of gas before crashing. Really fancy planes can be put into a "Landing Autopilot" that will effectively do everything but wash the galley afterwards, but a lot of minivans & SUVs will parallel park themselves too. The system isn't meant to drive you from Point A to Point B without you doing anything like a truly autonomous vehicle. It's meant only for highway use where it keeps speed and lane control, it's not gonna grab an exit and take you to the charging station. You also have to turn it on, which involves "signing" a ToS every time you activate it, saying much like the pilot in the airplane, you're gonna actually pay attention and not sleep or watch the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Heller rereleasing a dual trailer load of kist!
niteowl7710 replied to Foxer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
HobbyLink Japan has (or had) the majority of those January 2017 reissues still in stock from when they were all run last year. I'd like to get the Delage, Vivastella, and Estefette Van, I seem to recall all of those kits that are showing November release dates were also scheduled for 4Q reissues back at Nuremberg in February. The only thing that's truly AWOL at this point is the Ferguson tractor. -
That's all Revell ever showed of it, the coupe specific parts runners. I have one, but I haven't opened it yet. The side panels only show a stock engine, but the rest if the contents were supposed to be the Convertible kit which did have Hot Rod parts unless they took those parts out for some reason.

The biggest offense of that box art is the "Virginia State Police" livery applied to it. 1948 was the first year that VSP went to it's famous and still used gull gray and dark blue two tone color scheme. Not to mention they were never black and white (that I've ever seen in a historical photo), nor did they use that type of 5 point Sheriff star. Nobody's buying it for the decals, but sheesh who's coming up with this stuff. The VSP has a very detailed year by year historical archive online that a quick read through "1948" would have prevented the weird color scheme they chose that doesn't match the real unique color scheme.

If that had been the kit or the D&M Corvette Specialists one that was inspired by it rather than some goofy fake wagon I would have actually bought it. Seeing as how I was ultimately given the ultimatum to buy a NASCAR kit just to get a complete Supercharger system they can stick it in their ear if they think I'm buying two kits to bash into one model. I already have 2 sedans and the wagon as it is, not to mention the fiasco of buying 2 Nova kits to build one correct Yenko. I hope you drag guys take the opportunity and buy a ton, you guys are being buried in subject matter, but I'll pass.

Easy fellas it'll be the end of you if you start worrying about releases of kits not happening for a Quarter we haven't even entered yet.

AMT (Round2 Release) '40 Ford Coupe

Go to the upper right where your name is, and click that drop down menu. Then select Profile. Once that screen loads there will be a little gray box with a magnifying glass that says "See My Activity", click that - wait for the screen to reload and then on the options on the left you can select "Forum - Topics" and that will display in chronological order every thread you've created here since the forum switched to this software. Without trying to sound rude, it has to be vastly easier for you to find your own thread than to expect someone else to attempt to use the useless search engine or stumble across it. -
Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
niteowl7710 replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The '72 Custom Sport is out there, picked mine up today. -
Production ended in 2006. So perhaps it might be a decade too late. But these things are still all over the U.S. In Light Commercial applications. The actual H1 was a pretty expensive vehicle as well (as compared to the full size truck based H2 and small pickup based H3), and is still a bit of a collector's item.

According to Round2's literature on this, there are enough parts to build two entire Model Ts in the box.

Sign me up!!! Good choice for Meng in general, they'll easily be able to "shrink" it down to 1/35 for that market in the future, and having all the doors hinge will make it easy to make military variants without doors, or the up-armored versions with the beefier doors. As for the price...well you get what you pay for, and I'm about done with $20 model kits and the mediocrity they breed our of budgetary necessity.

Alright finally after way too long, this one clears the bench. One of the first things you'd notice is the fact that there's a number box with no number on it. This isn't a matter of "Calling it Done", but rather the fact that Studio27 only included three of each of the car numbers, instead of four. They issued a "technical bulletin" for it, and offered additional numerals, but to this point I have not received them. Fortunately one of my new friends at S.K. Decals (a Hong Kong based decal creator) is doing this same set with a Pre-Race Testing Scheme as well and he's shipping me a spare "#2" once the decals come in from the printer. Overall this kit isn't a bad one, but it's also not a particularly good one either. The half-hearted effort one must endure with the convoluted way Hasegawa turned their Street 318i/320i kit into a race car is well...obvious. The dashboard's "fit" is tenuous at best as it's both too narrow and to shallow, the interior door panels are flatter than an Indiana cornfield, and the new (and nice) BBS racing wheels have no rear "lip" in which to mount to the keyhole on the wheel hub making installation a C.A. or 5 Min Epoxy affair. But when you look at the larger picture the kit assembles smoothly, and while the reissue has a good amount of molding flash on all seams everything FITS, and once you get the wheels sorted it doesn't fight you. Because had this thing been a fiddly poorly fitting mess beyond the compromise of race car duty transformation I might seriously consider selling the other 7 of them I have. But I enjoyed the overall experience enough where I wouldn't rule out build another immediately afterwards especially knowing the pitfalls. One tip I'd pass along is scrap the windshield wiper. The glass needs to sit lower than I mounted it in order for it not to gap all around the roof. But mounting the glass with the wiper on it so it fits the roof then creates a serious interference with the cowl fit. Unless you need to create one of those broken in the middle of the windscreen wipers, just leave it off the mounting points sit well below the hood edge and you'll never notice it's missing. Cracks in the rear "swoosh" area come from my own hamfistedness, however the decals themselves are not radiused correctly over the rear wheels either. Paint is a bunch of Tamiya Whites. Chassis, interior and wheels are White Primer, body is TS-26 (Pure White), cage is Tamiya XF-2 (Flat White). This build was started in January for the 24 Hour Build, so in that spirit I left this goof on there since the idea is building a model, not making a contest model. Is the Revell single car trailer coming out?
niteowl7710 replied to Nova-ss's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I picked up one of the Midgets when they were on fire sale at Ollie's several months back, and the first thing I did was bust it open and inspect the trailer for repurposing. Man it's a smaller trailer...it might make a base for a small utility trailer of something but you're not hauling an actual car with it unless it's something like a Fiat or a Mini Cooper...and I mean the 1960s kind. Those Midgets are a lot smaller in person than they appear built up online. -
Fujimi did kit a Ferrari 330 P4, it's not an EM series, in fact even with 120 parts it's a curbside, but eventually it was done.

Ferrari 250 GTO - Fujimi or Revell Germany?
niteowl7710 replied to Kmb0319's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
All of the "basic" Fujimi 250 GTOs are the same, the only difference is the decal sheet. There was also a kit that came with a fret of K.A. Models Photoetch, and another that had turned aluminum wheel sleeves and P/E spokes. Fujimi also at one point sold that wheel set separately. At the current moment in time only the red box/red car kit is currently in the catalog. -
The only difference in KIT contents is the OAS has pad printed drag slicks. Beyond that the OAS is molded in white, comes in the bigger box with all the Art Series debris. The Teal one comes in a regular sized box, that is a white background (the OAS is a black background). Without sounding intentionally mean if people can't tell the difference between the bigger than Tamiya OAS box and a regular sized Round2 box labeling "Molded in Teal" probably isn't gonna help anyone either.
