Mike, you ought to drop them an email and tell them of the issue. If they don’t fix it, let them know the way they are handling (or actually not handling) the US market is a travesty.

If you haven’t seen the 24 Hour War you’ll like it. Suspect it will be better than the big budget version.

Mine (cherry hill, nj) had everything above plus the prepainted Revell Camaros and Challengers, and from Lindberg the bad 70s Challenger, the 1961 (???) Chevy convertible and the 32 (???) Ford rod.

That pic John posted of Garlits doing the burnout is really something - looks like he is on the return road! I don’t think they let you do that these days - thankfully!!

The Hawaiian Charger was recently re-released and should be easy to find.

I am at the auto shop while they work on my car. There is a TV talk show on, and they just did a demo of swirl-a-delic painting on picture frames - so Swirl-a-delic lives on!!!

I am interested on what paint colors you use. I should build mine - it actually was a grail - as I have had it sitting in its box since it was reissued.

One point about painting using neon colors - I have only painted with a neon paint once, and it was a store-brand neon yellow. The paint didn't have a lot of pigment, and even though I put it over a white base (you must use white), any tiny imperfections showed through. I don't know if that is just a "feature" of neon paint, but be sure to have a very nice, smooth, unmarred base just to be safe. The attached pic is of the build, and in real life it is pretty eye-searing. I wasn't a very good model photographer back when I took this.

Well Dave, can you let us know what was coming? The people who swore you to secrecy unfortunately are no longer part of Revell, and the entity that needed the secrecy no longer exists. I agree that much new stuff oriented at the US market is unlikely. Plus they got rid of the people who know the market, knew what was in the pipeline, etc., so if they are interested in producing anything specific to the US market, they will be starting from scratch unless they find something interesting on someones desk or in the computer network. I am not going to take the time to research the other firms in the Quantum portfolio and what Quantum has done to/for them, but they are mostly corporate castoffs that they have acquired. I don't know how long they tend to keep the companies, but they claim they plan to grow them, as their website states "We acquire businesses with significant potential for improvement, growth and development. Our investments are not limited to a specific industry. We work with the management to develop strategies for a sustainable and effective turnaround." Chris

It looks really nice. Odd that the kit has quite a bit of detail to the chassis if I recall, yet no mirrors! Odd what they would choose to omit. I have one that I having been thinking about building as a convertible, and the interior bucket is the convertible bucket I think.

I think the Revell New Camaro Concept and the 63 Vette mentioned above would be good. They are both snappers.

Both are great! Always liked both of them, but I had no idea the original was that small in comparison. Here is a pic of a real one I took, and you can see how small it is compared to the motorcycles. I should pick up a lot of the new one - yours in an inspiration!

If you’re planning to build it, you’ll have to open the box first. If you’re going to resell it, I’d keep the box sealed.

Here is my '64 Galaxie. It was one of my first builds when I got back into the hobby 9 or 10 years ago. I have pretty much all the others that were re-issued in the last 10-15 years. Hopefully I will actually build a couple of them. They are fun!

I built this perhaps 6 years ago from the Revell Concept Camaro snap kit. I made the decals myself, and the rear tires and all the wheels came from other sources.

Paint looks good and foot is fantastic?

It's a Swirladelic paint job. "Uncle Potts" at this link tells how to do it The only difference between how he describes it and I did it is I started with the body submerged in the water, then sprayed the paint on the water, then pulled the body up and out (I pre-attached handles made of a coat hanger to underside of the car before submerging it.) I had a sharp x-acto handy to pop any bubbles full of water once it was pulled out. After it dried I used a few coats of Testors One Coat clear and polished it. I have read that the only paints that work for this technique are enamel sprays, and I used Testors enamel sprays. Sorry to have semi-hijacked the thread.

The headers are a pain. Tom was smart on Miss Led to use some from another kit. I wanted the headers to come out just below the body to fit the cutouts in the body. I re-angled the headers where they meet the flange so the come out where I wanted them.
