  1. Thanks guys! Would there be any interest in a how-to on this kind of paint job? I'm getting ready to paint another Impala like this one and I'll do a step by step on it if anyone wants me to. Austin, I cut thin strips of Tamiya tape by taping two x-acto blades together and cutting strips out. the gap between the blades is how wide the tape will be. I hope this makes sense, I'm not real great at explaining things sometimes. Billy
  2. Thank you everyone! I really appreciate the great comments! I managed to get a lot done in the last few days. The body is polished/foiled, chassis is painted, and I've started on the engine. and here's another one I started on. It'll have it's own thread when I get a little farther with it. Thanks for looking and please let me know what you think, good or bad. Billy
  3. Nice work! I really like the primer look.
  4. Every once in a while I get the urge to do a wild paint job on something. This time the candidate was a 62' Impala that had some paint issues with it's last paint job. I've been wanting to build a lowrider for a while so I decided to try out a roof pattern on it. After hours of taping and spraying I ended up with this. The plan is to make it sit on airbag suspension with Pegasus wheels. Oh and I've decided to name it "Playing With Kandy" since that's exactly what I was doing with the paint job. Thanks for looking! All comments/criticisms welcome. Billy
  5. Revell's 65 Mustang chassis and engine bay is almost a direct fit into AMT's 69 Cougar.
  6. I'll join in with a 69 firebird. Hopefully this year I'll finish in time!
  7. We've got around five inches here with more possible later tonight. I can't complain though, It's caused school to be canncelled for three days so I've been able to work on some stalled projects.
  8. Those wheels look great!
  9. Nope lol, I'm going to try to find the JoHan snap kit to kitbash with a Monogram 70' Torino. If I can't find one I'll do a conversion on the 70'.
  10. I'm in. I'll probably build the green Torino from Fast Five but I'm not 100% sure yet.
  11. Exactly what I was going to say, the newer one just looks strange to me.
  12. Nice find! Reminds me of when my grandpa found a sealed AMT Prowler kit on the side of the highway. I'd really like to know how it got there.
  13. That's pretty interesting, I'd like to know how it got there.
  14. Well my car started backfiring after school and when I popped the hood I found that the driver side header only had 2 bolts holding it on causing an extreme exhaust leak.
  15. This is turning out awesome! The only thing I see that looks a little off is the size of the taillight pod things on the quarter panels, they seem a little big but I could be looking at it wrong too.
  16. Very clean work. I can't wait to see some more progress!
  17. Thank you for the encouragement! I think the wheels are from a company calked JPSpro but I'm not really sure. Has anyone else who built this kit had an issue with the windshield not fitting? Mine is too flat and it won't line up with the cowl at all.
  18. Great work so far, do you have any ideas on the paint yet?
  19. Looks great! I personally think the wheels are perfect for this car.
  20. Wow! That is some very impressive work.
  21. A variety of LS engines can be found in the Revell C6, Z06, and ZR1 Corvettes and the 2002 and 2010 Camaro kits. The corvettes all have transaxles molded to the engine block and the ZR1 is also supercharged. The 2010 Camaro has an automatic transmission. And the 2002 Camaro has a T56 manual transmission.
  22. I usually make it to the two local MMVA contests every year and I'm hoping to make it to the KC Slammers show this summer. I really enjoy seeing what everyone has been working on in person and meeting people who share this great hobby.
  23. Thanks Bill! I made some more progress. Airbags are made out of neoprene washers that I rounded the edges on and I added a crossmember to mount them to the frame. I also painted the body. The color is HOK Sunrise Pearl with Nason urethane clear. The color is a little darker in person than in the pics. Thanks for looking! All feedback is appreciated. Billy
  24. Thank you for the great comments guys! Bernard, Here's a link to the dirtmodeler store. http://www.dirtmodeler.com/store/ Most of the parts are for dirt track race cars but I've found that many of them work on pro touring style cars too. I'll post some more pics of the rear suspension with my next update.
