  1. That's quite an achievement - can't wait to see more
  2. Probably this kitbash of the fadeaway fenders from the '48 Ford Coupe fitted to a chopped convertible. Wanted to do something like this since I saw a similar one by Jack Davis (I think) on a magazine cover years ago. It was beyond my skillset to tackle this by scratchbuilding, but the recent issue of this kit brought it within reach, although much filler was consumed during the build. Once the body was painted, I couldn't resist completing the build.
  3. Good save - can't wait to see the final pics
  4. what everyone else said - wonderful!
  5. I'm sorry to hear this Harry - we who participate in the spirit of the quiz derive enjoyment and (sometimes ) satisfaction in getting the answer. Those that cheat can gain no pleasure from participation. Please continue for those of us that enjoy the thrill of the chase.
  6. Welcome aboard cruncher, looking forward to seeing your builds. I'm sure you'll like it on here.
  7. Nice job on the filler piece Niko, I remember reading years ago that these kits require some work
  8. Nice weathering on the underside Ron, looks like real rust.
  9. Nice job Chris
  10. Looks great to me, whatever the lighting - well done
  11. Now finished - see 'Under Glass'
  12. Thanks Jonathan, yeah I have a couple of weeks holiday so getting back into the best hobby . Happy new year to you.
  13. I have an old issue of this kit which has donated its wheels/tyres to another build, so I thought I would add modern equivalents (Pegasus DZ's with parts box tyres, rears from AMT Phantom '32 Vicky) and the latest colour from Tamiya, Metallic Forest Green. Otherwise built OOB after wrestling with warped parts and other kit issues . No doubt some will not like the modern rolling stock, but I guess that in the early sixties there would have been those that disliked the large shiny rims/piecrust slicks, as being 'modern' . All comments welcome.
  14. Thanks for the kind words Carl. The kit is not for the fainthearted, my version dates back to 2000 and suffers from warpage and purple plastic. Some parts are quite tricky. For example, the rear window has mounting tabs that extend to the 'glass'. I removed these, sanded and polished the glass, only to discover that the window is smaller than the opening (I used some clear acetate instead). There are mounting pins on the rear radius rods, but no holes for them etc.... Still, I fancy another kit too, as a stock build to replace my old, warped 1990's version at the beginning of this thread.
  15. Getting ready to complete this build, but here are the two main sub-assemblies prior to gluing together. I had to change the front tyres because I had previously narrowed the front rims and didn't do such a great job of narrowing the tyres to match . Then I had to replace the rear tyres to match the profile of the new front pair , managed to squeeze the rears from the AMT '32 Phantom Vicky on to the Pegasus rims with the aid of some hot water and elbow grease. Needless to say, some modification to the already built suspension was required . Got the body polished, hung the doors and fitted the (warped) interior parts (more cursing) to get here: Hope to wrap this up today.
  16. You're certainly off to a flying start Ashley! Body colour looks nice and I recommend you try BMF, it takes a little practice but is far better than silver paint. One thing, it's a bit hard to see your progress because the pics are little grainy - can you try taking pictures in better light?
  17. Great looking builds
  18. All great builds Rob, looking forward to your 2014 projects
  19. Nice builds, glad to see you overcame your 'disaster' builds - they still look great!
  20. Thanks Carl, I used Tamiya TS58 Pearl Light Blue, followed by semigloss clear
  21. nice Mustang, great colour sceme
  22. Great colour and finish on the 'paint' and nice clean rear end conversion. I recommend you try Bare Metal Foil for the chrome trim.
