About as nice as I've seen. Yup.

Came across this photo of my dad (the youngster). That car went everywhere, so a Model A with a flathead wouldn't be an unreasonable choice.

Also they were designed and built when barely half the roads in the civilized world were paved.

I've always preferred the old kits. More now than ever because technology and good company owners have cleaned up the notorious flash and poor registration. Sometimes I'm tickled to find how fresh and clean some of those tired old kits have become. Couldn't pay me to pick up an 80's vintage repop. Crossing my fingers on what they've done for this one.

I built this as a tyke in the very late 60's and I loved it and I still have it and I still like it. Enough that I've considered restoring it. Yeah, that box art did it for me.

A pair of bugs (a dirt bug and a dirty bug )

Excellent lens/zoom choice. I try to shoot all my models in a similar fashion, usually at the bench. -
Let's see your geegaws!
Lunajammer replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, full blown seven piece fireplace... you know... in the van. Gotta be right up there with the most obscure 'gaws. -
He was such an innovator. We enjoyed his concert in Minneapolis a few years ago. I never got into the Monkees much but I loved his video and film work in the 80's and his contributions to early MTV. His movie Repo Man has always been one of my favorite dark comedies. You should read P.J. O'Rourke's book "Driving Like Crazy" about he and Nesmith driving the Baja 1000. Nesmith first competed in 1969 on a Triumph motorcycle then raced a Class 8 desert truck for a number of years.

I'm a little late to the party here, but WOW! I think the expression and posture of the gentleman is priceless. Every possible detail is presented here. The only flaw I see is the presence of an attractive woman in stilettos... you know, IN a modeling room ?.

The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread
Lunajammer replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Heck if all the other lemmings are jumping I guess I am in. ‘61 Ranchero. Birthday last week so the ‘62 lineup was probably hitting the stores, but the Ranchero should be painless. -
Looks like pretty clean castings. Well done sir. But I cringe to see them piled into that box. I ruined a whole run of '61 Dodge Phoenixs that way. Warped beyond repair, even though they have no meaningful weight to them. I'm even unwarping a body that was safely (but unevenly) wrapped in paper towel for too long. Only hard flat surfaces for me from now on.

I like the Chevelle. Feels more like a "get -the-job-done" meat and potatoes car.

1940 Ford Moonshine Operation 'Moonshine Number Two'
Lunajammer replied to SawgrassRaven's topic in Dioramas
Just saw this... simply outstanding. Possibly one of the best I've ever seen for detail, realism, composition, etc. It feels a bit tight to me, but I wouldn't even make that minor comment if I didn't feel this was of the highest caliber. I wouldn't worry that the soft light hides detail, it compliments the tone. Wonderful. -

Bump. Voting is still open, all forum members are welcome. -
Just a reminder that if anyone finds a way to vote twice, any votes beyond one will be subtracted. I have X-ray vision ?.

Such a bummer Bruce, I was so looking forward to this one. Please be sure to show us when completion happens.

This is such a handsome car Nigel. As 80's cars go, I've always appreciated this body. Good color and all the parts you've sourced for this have come together seemlessly. This would have been great for the 2015 "Sleeperball" (which this is sort of like).
