  4. Sssshhh, not so loud! She thinks it's real.?
  5. Thanks, Larry!
  6. I had to look that up to see what you were referring to. I have a hard time understanding what Springsteen is saying when listening to the songs.
  7. Thanks, Tom! I've wanted to do this for years. The song made a picture in my mind, and this is my attempt to represent it. I had a hard time figuring out what kit to use for a "54 convertible", and finding a suitable girl was a real challenge. This is as close as I could get.
  8. slip a sable under the tree, for me.......Santa Baby, a '54 convertible too, light blue.... C'mon, sing along, you know the words! AMT kit, paint is Testors "Turquoise". She comes from the Revell '59 Galaxie. The sable is just a piece of velvet. MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!
  9. It's a dog's life! I never understood why that phrase implies something bad. We should all be so lucky. Brian is obviously enjoying himself.
  10. Ah, the good ol' days. Seems like we used to get at least a few "snow days" off from school every year. We'd be outside most of the day, sledding, building snow forts, having snow ball wars. We'd be cold, wet, and tired, and loved every minute of it.
  11. I'm not in the "snowiest" part of VA. I'm about 8 miles from the WV line, about the same to Maryland. We don't get near the snow we used to get, so I enjoy it even more.
  12. SNOW! I saw some complaints on the subject over in the "Irks" department, so just to be contrary, I'm posting this. We got 6 inches or so yesterday and last night. It's beautiful! I plowed the driveway this morning. I already had the plow on the F250, so I just drove down to the end of the driveway, turned around and came back. Yes, I know I'm spoiled!
  13. FWIW, I recently finished the same GT 40. I also painted the inside of the windows (black). I used a thin layer of epoxy in the rabbet where the window goes. The windows fit well, so just placing them in the opening worked fine. No pressure, so no squeeze out. The hardest part for me was painting silver all the little nibs on the windows that represent the screw heads.
  14. I think maybe Peter is right. I use that thinner (in the red can) all the time, and have never had that problem, even on bare plastic. I went back to using it after lacquer thinner had a bad reaction with one color of Testors paint. Yes, it's expensive, but it works reliably on all their paints. One thing tho, don't use it for paint you are going to store for a while. It will turn the paint to Jell-o pretty quickly. At least that's been my experience.
  15. Nice job! The weathering and plumbing are excellent. I agree that the photos could pass for the real thing.
  16. I'll join the crowd on the color, just gorgeous. Nice job, Jim.
  17. Thanks, Ken! Thanks, Sam! Thanks, Scott! I look forward to seeing yours finished. It really is a lot of fun to build.
  18. Great job! Very clean and nicely detailed.
  19. Auto Air can be dry sanded, I'm guessing Createx can too. If you sand it you will probably lose your pearl effect though. I sometimes sand the next to last coat, and then give one more light coat of paint. Even if you don't sand, you can clear coat and then polish the clear to a smooth finish. It looks good, but if you look closely you can kinda see the roughness of the paint under the clear, if that makes any sense. Your paint job looks good to me. Unless it's more trouble than it's worth, don't give up on this paint. It looks like you're getting the hang of it.
  20. Thanks, Geoffrey!
  21. Thanks, Dan! Thanks, JT! Thanks, Jim! Thanks, Rick!
  22. Thanks, Doug! Thanks, Chris!
