  1. Also take a look at Papilio sheets. Available in white and clear, 8-1/2" x 11" sheets, and reasonably priced.
  2. First, throw away the instructions! Just kidding! Take your time and have fun.
  3. What a great idea! I have a bunch of jeweler's saw blades, and never thought about using them for modelling. BTW, jeweler's saw blades are similar to the Dremel blades, they come in various sizes. The smallest- 8/0, is .006" thick and .013" wide, with 84 teeth per inch (very fine). I will be adding some to my model tool kit. Thanks!
  4. Among other things, I like to use it to attach chrome mirrors or door handles to a painted body. It won't damage the paint or the chrome, and will stick to both.
  5. Wow! That engine is awesome! And the rest of the car is up to the same standard. Beautiful job!

I think you're right about "why didn't they do it" I think it would have sold. Great idea and interesting techniques all around. Way cool!
  7. Thanks for that link, Bill, that is really interesting. I see they are using rigid molds, rather than the silicone held together with rubber bands that I use. Plus a resin injector. On the other hand, for a low-tech guy like me, I wonder if silicone inside a rigid box, and a syringe, would work. Hmmmm.....
  8. I have very limited casting experience, so I could easily be wrong, but I don't think it would work well. I see several potential air pockets, and I wonder how well the resin would flow thru the small spaces where the parts attach to the sprue. I think the difference comes from the pressure of injection molding vs. just gravity for pouring resin. Actually, I hope I am wrong, it would be cool if it would work!
  9. Rubbing the sidewalls with 0000 steel wool will knock the shine off.
  10. Well done! Very clean and nicely detailed. Your wood bed is one of the best I've seen.
  11. I would have loved it if I had gotten my garden in before this mess. As it is, I'll be lucky if it dries out enough to plant by June.
  12. Wow! I'm sure glad this thread got dug up. That is one spectacular truck.
  13. Ditto on the radials. Add to that the Merlin in the P-51. Oh baby!
  14. Great models, great idea. Your bud's gonna love it! Nice job!
  15. I'm always thrilled when there's an update for this. It is so much fun to watch! Totally amazing work, please keep it coming!
  16. A big V8 with glass packs, or a 600HP V12.
  17. Here's another one of those Hawk slot car bodies.
