  1. White, rust and dirty, the way they used to look. Nice job!
  2. Thanks! This truck is now 2 years old and it has a 3 axle step deck hitched to it, the truck and trailer have Laidlaw markings. Pictures to come if interested, even if you're not! As for the spread axle, I did one on an AMt flatbed I hitched up to a K100. Maybe I should show that as well...
  3. That is lookin' goooood! It's going to be even better with the decals! Nice job man! Still no toolboxes... But excellent nonetheless!
  4. You are right Aaron and the subject really is for Moebius. But my point is, there is no request to the other manufacturers out there. Thre might be some hope from Revell (ROG). But not much else. The others just re-edit the older kits which is ok, but I'd like some more newer subjects. So I guess our best bet for now really is Moebius... Hakan, I wouldn't get the shiny parts chromed by an outside firm, I'd paint them with Alcald II. It's a waste of time having to remove the chrome of parts before repainting with chrome again once they are trimmed and sanded down smooth.
  5. Too bad this kits fits weird... But you have made pretty good work of it anyway, looks good in this color. Not sure about the black all over the interior, I think it should have been dark grey but still looks good. For the exhaust extensions, the kit IS accurate both extensions are the same! On the real car, it's the same thing. IFor a reason I'm still trying to figure out they didn't route the tailpipes equally on both sides, so they installed the same extension on both sides. I'll have to study a Firebird Formula or Trans-Am, 'cause they don't seem to have the same issue. I changed the exhaust on my Z28 to a Magnaflow and solved this...
  6. I know I'm building all my trucks with proper drive tires since the first time I put them on a truck. They just have the correct look.
  7. Hum... Something's missing JT. The JT signature toolboxes! It's not a JT unless there are toolboxes hanging on the sides of the frame! Hahaha! But honestly, I like this and what I notice from most, if not all your builds is that your trucks look "husky" with all the equipment you install on them. They just look "right".
  8. I'm always amazed of people scratch building their stuff! I have seen quite a bit more than just a couple of these lowboys that have been built from plastic sheet and channels (and some wooden planks...). This one is hanging with the best I've seen yet! There definitely is a market for this type of trailer kit.
  9. Weird how we're all putting our faith in Moebius and almost not asking anything from other makers... I think Revell is still a contender for new equipment and should have a serious look at a truck design of their own, I'm hoping they're not just asking around for suggestions... They could have been testing the waters with the reboxed Moebius kits. So anyhow, any kit producer could try something like this, AMT did various truck wheel models it in the 60's and 70's. The Astro and Titan had 5 spoke wheels all around, the Autocar dump truck had front flotations with 6 spokes, the Autocar tractor had 5 hole aluminum front discs, both firetrucks and the Peerless logging trailer had nice 5 hole steel budds the White brothers had 5 spokes in the back and the D-R had 5 spokes all around too. Come to think of it, Ertl did the same except it was even easier to switch the wheels from one truck to another since the wheel back parts were separate from the "face". At the time, AMT and Ertl had many kits out, that must have helped a bit to spread the wheel designs and they did have a nice assortment of rims and tires. It sure was fun to switch the rims from one kit to another and end up with something looking different from the box art. So you never know, maybe the folks at Moebius have something up their sleeve. It would be nice to have those 2 hole wheels with accurate hubs, make them separate parts on their own trees so it's a mix and match for truck and trailer applications. And correct drive tires would be nice too... If we ask nicely. Get the next truck and trailer kits on those and sell the new wheels separately like the other rims just as it was suggested before. I know a Lonestar would look pretty cool with 5 hole steelies... Even if the big ones don't get them! Another thing that I would like to see, a truck kit no chrome at all except for light buckets. If I want shiny bits' I'll paint them with Alclad chrome or aluminum. Nothing I hate more than have a nice chrome fuel tank just to sand down the seems and then paint it up with aluminum paint again.
  10. I think the trucks with more bling will appeal to the less experienced modelers and if they're lucky, a younger audience as well. Once they get more experience, they look for different things. I know, when I was a kid, I'd look at kits that had good box art, nice colors and lots of chrome Equipment. I knew my favorite makes too, they needed dual exhaust to start with, chrome disc wheels and as much as I could is to get kits with Detroit power... Don't ask... I just liked the sound of the real ones. I wanted chrome fuel tanks, a roof spoiler, and rear wheels that would match the front ones. What can I say, I was a kid, so thats what I wanted at the time. I still like chrome on trucks, dual vertical stacks (have you ever seen a daycab Kenworth without stacks? poor thing...), polished wheels and tanks. But I can really appreciate a truck that looks like the real thing, with painted wheels and bumpers, rear spokes or 2 hole discs. I agree that some kits need to appeal to the eye of the unexperienced to pull them into the hobby. Just like you have a Viper or a Corvette in a 1:1 car showroom to stir curiosity. I would like to see a kit of a trailer or a truck with 2 hole discs as standard and a daycab too, those would be pretty cool. Custom truck modelers? Why not, there are a lot of people modifying car kits, so I can see guys making pretty nice customs too.
  11. I agree with what you just said, and thanks for clearing some of the licensing principles. I think Mack would easily agree to let Moebius produce the Pinnacle or the Titan!
  12. Nice wheels on a nice Camaro! Wish there were an 18" versions of that rally wheel with the correct offset for my 1:1 4th gen Z28...
  13. That is going to be a tough lookin' mother... I like it! The front wheels, the 2 holes in the back, the paint scheme... The MCA exhaust stack(s)... It's gonna look better than the Bill Signs Pete!
  14. I was curious of this kit. I have the 1:1 Z28 convert, so I'll be watching this... CLOSELY. By the way, before having the car resprayed last year i was thinking of something similar to this color instead of the original dark green so this is going to be interesting. Nice first step!
  15. I'm with you Mr. Davis, the paint schèmes from the 70's and 80's were indeed wild but, they sure looked great! Man has it been bland ever since.
  16. That is a nice build! The paint scheme sets it off perfectly.
  17. To the Melbourne Truck accessories list you could add Detroit Diesel 12V92TT too.
  18. I ike the look with the police interceptor rims!
  19. For people still asking for an accurate Pete 379... Tim Albohrn has a tutorial on how to transform an Italeri 378 into a short Hood 379, there are people P&P casting parts for a long nose 379, a 388 and a 389 and AITM has a 386 transkit for the Italeri 377, with all the accessories you can imagine to make them possible. Italeri makes the 377 and the 378, AMT Round2 the old 359 and also the 352, Revell, the 359 with a short sleeper as a "snap" kit, the 359 with a bigger sleeper cab and also that same 359 with a long frame and a rotator tow body and to top it off, the heavy duty Bill Signs 359. I think we have enough old Peterbilts. Ok maybe a double bunk 362 would be nice... Lets have a resin cab conversion kit of that to install on a Revell or AMT 359 frame. So how about a kit of a 387 or 579 instead? Or, can we have something a little different this time? A Mack, for instance, would be nice. About copyrights... Tons of people abused copyrights for years by copying movies, downloading music for free, copying designs from other companies and making money off of those. The Chinese are notorious for this as they are still doing this openly. So a lot of companies such as Caterpillar and Freightliner and GM have decided to control this more tightly by deciding who is going to use their designs and they are charging a lot of money for this. So it can become difficult and expensive to try and get some new kit designs on the shelves nowadays.
  20. Nice 8V92T, but does it fit under that short kit Hood? The 6V92 likely will but the V8 might be a little tight.
  21. Hey Cary, how did you fix the acorn nuts to the wheels? I went to look for the nuts at RB Motion and the only ones similar to these have a cylindrical extension to them, so I guess you just stick them into the wheel holes?
  22. Even though it's been designed to work with the ERTL Transtar 4300, this should be pretty awesome with the Lonestar engine, drivetrain and suspension.
  23. Whoa! Love the drive Michelins! The acorn nuts look awesome too! Very nice. MCA wheels are very nicely machined, though a little wide between the rims in the back. But overall excellent stuff!
