AMT Ford C Series Coke Stake Truck
Rodent replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK, do I have to watch Chris' build to earn the answer? -
Wow. I am now working from home. I no longer have to drive 60 miles total per day back and forth to work. You would think that would give me more modeling time, but I have been spending more time with work stuff now. I actually touched some model parts about an hour ago. It was just moving them back to the box.

I believe that the cars were in Honeycomb. I have a few of the Mustangs. I think that I still have a Cougar, and some of the 1969 Mercurys as well. Also gave away the little bike-sized license plates.

So, what are we all saying here? Seems like everyone we personally knew with a 65 Park Lane was a really bad driver and/or a drunk? The world needed more used 390s at the time, so that must have been the reason.

As a car-obsessed teenager the late 70s, I worked at a Shell gas station. We had a "regular" customer that was a friend of the station owner. He drove a 65 Parklane Marauder that was probably Ocean Turquoise and had a black vinyl top. He would drop by around 10 AM or so and leave the Merc for the day while he drank at the bar around 100 yards from the station. Sometimes he drove home, sometimes he got a free tow home from the owner because he couldn't walk, much less drive. Charged all his gas and service work. I assume he paid the bills. Just about every time I saw the car it had a new dent. Had a black interior and factory AC IIRC. Guess if I ever found one of these kits I would choose Frank's color scheme for old times sake.

If it is available, I must do an AMT 40 Ford coupe like I did in c.1970. -
Testors metalflake spray bombs

Didn't see this. Burgundy Purple Metalflake? If so, gotta get some! -
Have spoken of the "1 of zero" 429 CJ Torino wagon that our friends in Santa Cruz had on this board before. It didn't even get home from the dealership before it got an exhaust system and wheels. Not sure what the wheels were, but they had wider spokes like 200S, but black or very dark grey.

Hmmmm. We need to all send him BMF to help his recovery. His builds all require a lot of it!

Stunningly beautiful day here today. Made some black eyed peas with kale and other veggies. Grilled a pasilla pepper to add in as well. Got some great news, someone died, but a good friend is getting a new kidney finally. Been on dialysis for years. I live on a culdesac of amazing folks. We hang out, drink, barbecue, etc. Can't do that anymore, but the doorbell rang around noon, and one of the neighbors delivered Happy Hour in a Jar. Homemade lemonade from their tree, with vodka. Was a good day, even though I didn't do any model stuff. (Pic is the view to the west as I was grilling the pepper. Japanese Maple and the huge palms that were here when we bought the house in 1993.)

Duplicolor and LA’s Totally AWSOME??
Rodent replied to 2zwudz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
What kind of primer was used under the Duplicolor? I have had really poor luck stripping Tamiya and Duplicolor unless the stripper will dissolve the primer underneath. -

I don't know if you are on Fakebook, but I have a couple of friends that have had good luck selling all kinds of oddball stuff on Marketplace. -
I agree with Greg regarding the spoon test. Just pick the one you like best. And yes, I would like to see it over a light metallic silver as well.

The High Cost of the Hobby
Rodent replied to Nitrobarry's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember when kit prices went up to $2.25 from $2.00. I had to raise my price-per-lawn to compensate. -
Replicating modern LEDs in headlights?
Rodent replied to Fat Brian's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Brian, are you trying to replicate the LED daytime running lights in the bottom of the Camaro's headlamps? -
Good grief, that's a lot of windows! I think I will do a light coat of clear to seal the masks before I shoot the black. I was planning on using flat because the headliner detail and overhead console are part of the glass unit. Thanks a lot guys!

Trevor, I am not sure what you are saying. This window unit has engraving around the outside indicating where the black is supposed to be. Dale, I read the airbrush suggestion online somewhere as well and was wondering why it would be preferred to a rattle can. If there is good reason for it, I can dust off my Paasche H.
