Suggestion for anyone planning a model contest with vendors
64SS350 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in Contests and Shows
I attended that show today as well as a vendor/customer, but not being an older individual, I still understand what you are saying. While all members seamed busy doing something for the show today, I do remember them helping anyone who accepted the offer in previous years. Truth is, they are also getting older. But your suggestion is a very good idea! Always enjoy this show, keep it up! -

C-1 Models "Shooting Brake" AKA Camaro Wagon
64SS350 replied to BDSchindler's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I too have started this as a second... third... fourth??... project. Lol. Pulled mine off the shelf a couple weeks ago. I'm finding the same areas that need attention as you are, I haven't tried the rear valance yet though. This resin is very nice to work with, seems more durable than what we use here in the US. I'm debating about some modern customization, or get a second one for that. I haven't decided on the rear of my interior yet either. -

MCW Bare Metal Gloss Lacquer

Yes, Mike relocated to the south, yes he will still be making the paint, but the shop in Massillon was sold to someone else and will carry the paint line. -

He had stated he was working on more Metalizer finishes, but I haven't checked back. Someone purchased the local hobby shop from him and will continue to carry his paint line... thankfully! Here is another I haven't tried yet. -
68-72 Suburban scratch build
64SS350 replied to 64SS350's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Update... actually did some frame and body tweaking. The frame was too short and the body was out of square. Got those remedied and started on an engine I chose from Texas 3D. Now I can locate and make mounts for the engine, trans, and transfer case. The valve covers are a color preview.... -
Thought I'd share this with you all. Mike sold me this a few months ago, just got around to trying it. These are Texas 3D parts with MCW primer. I did not buff the primer, but it still comes out to look like bright aluminum.

Rustoleum Bright Coat Chrome
64SS350 replied to Plasticated Guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, like all Rust-Oleum products, it comes out like you are using a garden hose. I found it to have a decent finish, and if I remember correctly it wasn't very durable. IMO... -
Is this still the..."What did you get today" section?

Model Car Channel Store 2016-19 Corvette C7R Upgrade

Here's the conversion kit for the GT 40X-1 roadster, will need lots of prep work, multiple pages of instruction with pics. -

I eyeballed the kit when he first listed it on eBay, wasn't sure about the detail. Recently he has listed a conversion for the GT 40, to the X-1 Roadster. Now that you listed his website, I somehow pulled the trigger on that one. Thanks for that!! LOL. I'll report on that one when it comes in. -
I believe I used a combination of a circular blade for the Dremel and back of a broken #11 blade. Certain scribers could be affective, finish with files and sandpaper

Over due update.... installed rain channels, fabbed rear hatch, lengthened frame, cut seats apart (lines on seat portion where muddled), hood scoop arrived and I customized that to fit, blending of the scoop is next. Started prepping the 3d printed BB,but they supplied a trani that's too small in scale. -
Easy to deal with, beautiful decals!! I haven't actually applied them, as the car is not built yet.

Thank you, probably going with 4wd chassis. -
Finally got one of these for an amazing price! I had realized, at some point, this was a curbside, but not that the undercarriage was cast metal and brass tubing. Very interesting.
