  1. Yea, I lasted five days! Now I’m chasing a long wheelbase Jeep down the merry path!
  2. My daughters are now adults and live on their own, but I remember those days! One time my younger daughter went into my model room and dumped an entire bottle of CA glue into an interior bucket! Fortunately she didn’t get any on herself but it was a wake up call. Model room was locked after that!
  3. Thank you! Many people don’t understand the time and effort it takes to do this!
  4. Great project Dennis! I appreciate your step by step photos and narrative! That’s how we all learn!
  5. As said WOW!! It’s a funny thing, as much time as I spend on this board, this post evaded me! I’m happy I found it! Superb model!
  6. Wow! A rare split window Corvette! Don’t touch that patina! And you guys know I’m scheming to figure out how to do it! ?
  7. Thank you! That makes my day! ?
  8. All of the above! There’s not a lot I want (notice I didn’t use the word “need” since nobody actually needs a model kit), which comes down to me buying new kit issues, and a lot of old favorites that I have ideas for or are great parts kits. As mentioned I will always buy one of the favorites / good parts kits when I see them at shows in the $5 to $10 range. I do have my kits stored in original 12 kit cases by make, type of vehicle and era. Depending on how many kits, there is a case marked “Chevy 1960s” and separate ones for “Chevy 1960s trucks”. As I sorted these I became aware of how many times I bought that $5-10 kit.. I had more than a dozen 1955-57 Chevy pickups, all bought cheap one at a time! Same with 1950 Ford pickups!
  9. Tom, your pickup cab looks fine.. no need to add another process on top of it! Me? Since I cannot leave well enough alone, I’ve been fiddling with the two Jeeps I finished recently. On the Jeep I didn’t like the plastic engine compartment structural bars, they were too thick, especially when displayed next to the Jeepster which has ones I made from wire. So I replaced them. On the Jeepster, under the hood, MPC didn’t put the bars in the kit, but had indents in the firewall for them. By the time I got a battery in and added the bars, they collided with the battery and master cylinder. That’s when I realized MPC had them in the wrong location. Removed them, drilled new firewall holes, and painted new bars. The battery was too large for this all to work, so I cut some depth out of a new one, made a new tray.. printed a new battery label. The engine bay should be much better now! Then I decided to add a trailer hitch. It never ends!
  10. Super job! That is one turd of a kit. I have one in the stash but have never attempted it. The tops on the real ones were notoriously troublesome.
  11. Great bunch! I too have been focused on saving old builds and finishing long languishing projects!
  12. You could put a Wanted notice on this board! Otherwise eBay is the way to go! I just checked and none are available right now, but set up a search agent and they’ll email you whenever one pops up. You can wait until the right car appears as the right price.
  13. Thanks guys! It was a fun year at the bench. Most of my production was early in the year while hunkered down. August onward I found a consulting gig which took much of my time and energy. This week I have done some fiddling on the Jeeps.. ya know those little details that tick you off? Fixed em!
  14. Heres’ boxes for both Hubley and Premier kits. The Hubley also came as a bag kit. That’s the bag topper at bottom of above photo. The Hubley is the way to go! It has a one piece styrene body, no warp. There are two versions. Bag kit omitted the glass and most of the interior, only giving you seats. Box version has glass, interior and skis. Bag kit Glue version.
  15. Yes, it’s one of the versions of the Mork & Mindy Jeep. This one was molded in blue.
  16. I agree the Desert Dogs are huge! In fact when I pulled a set out of my Jeep junk box, I thought they were from the 1:20 scale Jeep! An alternative is the Suburbanite snow tires that were in a lot of MPC kits. The centers of these are small and I’ve had to hollow them out a bit with an exacto to get some rims to fit! These are Suburbanites..
  17. One of my favorite kits to build. I've done three so far.
  18. Meanwhile in Amsterdam...
  19. Nice group of cars! A good year's worth of work!
  20. Welcome to the board! It's a great place and we can all sit out Covid together!
  21. Fun stuff! I too enjoy playing with old built ups!
  22. Five completions is five more models out of boxes! I'd say let's go for it. I have models that still need finishing! (and probably always will!)
