Many years ago when I still lived in New Jersey, I came in on the tail end of this incident, noticing cop cars in front of my house. My neighbor John, a young guy maybe 20 was leaning up against his car smoking a cigarette. I guy comes out of the woods at the end of the block and runs up the street.. he sees John and says something like, “Dude, the cops are chasing me, hide me!” John tells him to hide in his shed. Then he puts a lock on the shed door! Cops come prowling the street, John flags them down. This is where I came in.. as they were putting the guy in the cruiser! Turns out this jerk broke into a car dealer up on the highway. He had stacked up their computer equipment, and then found that all the keys to cars were in a locked cabinet. He set off the alarm trying to bust open the cabinet! He had run quite a distance through the woods.. no trails and wetlands in the dark to get to my street!

revell new plastic = soft garbage?
Tom Geiger replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Model kit molding is outsourced by the model companies, much of it to Chinese factories. With no actual representation from the model companies in China, these sources seem to do what they wish with plastic content. The two kits you have no doubt have different blends of styrene, maybe not even run by the same factory. And I’ll bet there are bad surprises for the model companies when the orders show up! -

I hear ya Dave- it’s always something! I had a bathroom sink dripping. Quick washer replacement.. only the washer had a shape like I never saw before.. in the end I wound up replacing the faucet, supply tubes and vanity top!

New magazine from Kalmbach
Tom Geiger replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Per Tim’s post I went and ordered a copy. Maybe Kalmbach will learn something if all the car modelers didn’t take Fine Scale, but this sold well.. -
I had seven completions for 2020.. not too shabby for me! First one was the total restoration of my Blue Beetle that I started last year. In fact I had to check to see if I did finish this last year.. nope! My photos are dated January 18th! And this was before we were concerned about Covid! I got the Blue Beetle off the bench just in time for the 24 Hour Build. My entry, which I did finish in time, was the blue Falcon stocker with Little Debbie sponsorship. It sits on the shelf with my previously finished Valiant stocker! Then Covid hit! John Papp started a Lockdown build on Facebook and I decided that I had never gotten to building a 1950 Chevy pickup, which I did to match wall art in one of my favorite restaurants. It came out well, and having plenty of time, I did two more from the snap version, which I gave to the restaurant. After three of the same model I was a bit modeled out. I was calling it my Groundhog Day build since I’d get up everyday and build the same model! And it was summer. That led me to spend much of my time working on my deck and bridge, replacing a lot of boards, then painting it all! Then I started working on the long languishing Jeepster pickup project! I entered it into the Bring Out Your Dead build here on the board. And it got completed on 12-31, along with a companion Jeep project car! That’s my 2020. I’m hoping for a better 2021 for everyone!

Happy New Year mate! You know which one is my favorite! I have one of those Jaymar bodies, but have kept it unbuilt since the fiberglass is interesting.

1965 Chevy Stepside
Tom Geiger replied to KWT's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Both pickups look great! This year I built three green 1950 Chevy pickups! I get stuck on color too. For the Jeep I just finished I couldn’t picture it in any color so I left it to chance. I went to the store the other day and decided that I’d paint it to match the first Jeep I saw. As I waited at the stop sign to get out of my neighborhood, an orange Jeep drove by. And that’s what I did! -
Monkey’s been drinking ? ?

I was looking for my Shabo paint stand for at least a week.. found it sitting on top of the paint booth with a Jeepster on it. In plain sight!

Agreed. Tristate Scale Model Car Club / NNL East bought two models he built, I believe a Thomas Flyer and a Mack Bulldog, and donated them to the museum. Not the most memorable builds of his but we only got wind that his builds were being dispersed once the magazine cars were already gone.

A great grouping! I love the little Fiat!
