Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....
Tom Geiger replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Back when Model King did some large scale funny cars, it took him years to sell the 2500 kit runs. We will have to see if there’s a market for larger scale, that community is a small but vocal group. -

Welcome Dave! It's a friendly bunch of odd characters here! If you have questions or need a critique on anything, just ask! Looking forward to seeing your work! -

Shredded or pellets?

Very nice work! A few jobs ago I designed and set up some pretty elaborate prefab office buildings. The sections always arrived on toters.

I went to TROG last year and was disappointed it didn’t happen this year. There are the rules, but still you’ll see cars with glass and lights running. Here’s my photos, note that the first group of photos are cars that were just in the car show on the beach. https://public.fotki.com/ModelCitizen/11_car_reference_library/car-shows-and-cruis/trog-the-race-of-ge/

Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
Tom Geiger replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I also have the $250 Pace special without light. I like it a lot. I added the same two clip on lights to the sides that I used on my last booth. I have the lights and fan all on a power strip I have mounted to my cart that the booth sits on. -
TJeepster
Tom Geiger replied to NOBLNG's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Remember too that the half cab sits on the rear cab wall that glues in place. I also agree that the full roof looks best and I don’t have one right now. I’m hoping to get one from Olsen Brothers, or their whole wagon body with top molded in for a future build. I also am currently building a second Jeepster using the up top, convertible top. -
TJeepster
Tom Geiger replied to NOBLNG's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The half panel interior sides came out so that the half roof would work. The former long panels were in the earliest versions. The Jeepster I’m building is to be a pickup. I wasn’t pleaded with how the bed looked unfinished so I added a layer of plastic to be the bed inside walls and cut the bed from the interior. I also added the missing bed skid strips onto the floor. Mine will assemble like a puzzle.. I am going to have to glue the short side panels to the body, while attaching the back panel, then insert the interior floor in. The seats will go in last. There’s not enough room to pivot the completed assembly into place. -

What Did You Have for Dinner?
Tom Geiger replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
We had a boneless turkey breast and traditional fixings, just the wife and I. We took Samuel L Jackson’s advice for the holiday. Today for lunch I did the New Jersey thing.. Taylor Pork Roll and cheese. -
I have always been into the 1960 Daytona Compact Class Valiants and would love to build all eight of them. Here’s decals for four of them.. Lee and Richard Petty, Ralph Moody and Marvin Panch. From Slot Car Fever, not sure how well they will work just yet. I am always looking for photos and info on these cars if anyone has any!

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
Tom Geiger replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Anything that has survived is purely due to chance and haphazard business practices. There was no continuity, the companies and property changed hands several times, losing anyone with experience and knowledge of exactly what they had. I doubt paper records exist. Think about it.. Tooling that has been sitting for some odd 50 years while still unidentified? Incredibly inefficient and costly to store! I am finishing up a consulting gig where modern business standard, basically states that if you don’t have a use for something within a reasonable amount of time, you liquidate it. Keeping idle assets costs a company about a third of that assets value to keep every year.- 599 replies

Not from original drawings which wouldn’t exist today, but reversed engineering off a surviving kit. Pretty elementary work today. And right on the MO of Round 2, Tom Lowe started the whole enterprise by reverse engineering the old Aurora monster kits under the Polar Lights label. If this is successful, then anything is possible!- 599 replies
