  1. Nice work Carl!
  2. It’s interesting that a business that looks like it was doing well was bulldozed after ten years!
  3. That’s why I take a lot of photos as I build. A lot of flaws show up in photos, especially close ups that are larger than the model
  4. Nice work ! This kit was originally created by Polar Lights as a new kind of easy build kit. Their VW Beetle, a then new modern GTO and a classic GTO were also done. I think the concept is still valid to allow casual builders to get good results and as a basis for more serious builders to build a more detailed model using it as the start point.
  5. I can understand buying a resin box for the Emergency! TV truck if done correctly as a replica of that specific box since it’s very different than the Moebius box. For an exact copy, I’d still buy the whole kit over a resin copy. Many years ago I scratch built this box and cap from plastic sheet. Not hard to do since the box is all straight panels. Don Mills makes the slam locks. At the time a resin caster and I talked about casting the box so I made another one. He saw difficulties in casting it as a single piece. If he cast the sides hollow, the mold side part B would be deep and hard to remove from the molded product. If cast as a solid unit it would have been very heavy. A funny thing.. this truck hadn’t been out for a long time but I took it to the last Toledo NNL and two different people asked me if it was the Moebius box!
  6. Why? Moebius sells a plastic version that’s readily available from $25-35 depending on where you buy it. And you get an entire truck kit with it. So you convince someone to pirate that body and cast it. What would you expect to pay for that??
  7. I got back to the hobby about 30 years ago. Back then a certain dealer had new issues at $6 each or would sell you a mixed case for $60. I’d buy extras i really wasn’t that interested in, or duplicates to fill out the case. So I still have plenty of cheaply acquired kits to part out.
  8. Interesting day.. after a long cold spell due to Covid I got two job calls today. One about a job from before the epidemic, setting up an interview and another out of the blue!
  9. Very cool. I’m a sucker for a good story about a survivor!
  10. And be aware of what materials your vehicle is constructed of when you are doing accident damage. For instance the grill is probably plastic that would have shattered rather than bent
  11. Very nice work! It’s a shame what happened to the real car!
  12. Another thread back from the dead! Fortunately the photos all seem to be here! I went through and read from the beginning, I found I had already contributed what I was thinking of adding!
  13. I haven’t traded, I’m fortunate that I have a good stash and access to enough local shows to buy what I need. If someone I know on the board needs a part for a project, I’m happy just to send it to them. I enjoy seeing my parts get used and feel good when I contribute to a project! People have sent me parts the same way, so it’s a good circle!
  14. No, the kit with six is 1960 Chevy pickup
  15. That looks super!
  16. I always said I wanted the one in bright yellow and black. It looked like an angry bee!
  17. I don’t think I’ve seen a single old built up with the stock tail lights. I have several copies myself all using the custom lights or missing all together
  18. How did you get past the corner windows? Looks great ?
