  1. It looks absolutely grand! And you didn't invite me???? ? My friend knowing my passion for Cajun food told me I really needed to go to New Orleans. My wife and I planned the trip. It got cancelled at the last minute due to my work responsibilities. Wouldn't ya know, that was the week of the hurricane and New Orleans flooding? Dodged that bullet. But never got there since!
  2. Glad to see you got it instead of the floor!
  3. Here's a '67, '68 and '69 set. You are attempting the most ambitious conversion from '67 to '68.
  4. I like it! Let's keep on movin' forward! I've had in my mind to create an odd engine from parts that nobody would recognize... didn't realize there was a kit of one! ?
  5. Wow! It's cool to see that Snowball finally got finished. It's a shame nobody knows who has it today. Maybe the power of the Internet can pull it out of hiding? I remember those days on The Model Car List. And I noticed I had posted about our NNL East club project and that we didn't know who had it. A few years ago a fellow I knew in NJ told me he was the raffle winner and still had the car in good shape. I asked him to bring it to a club meeting and I squeezed off some photos: And here's a thread I did earlier this year:
  6. Nice work so far Geoff! I noticed that Revell put indents where the mirrors and door handles will be attached. I'm interested in seeing how this goes, and your impression on the same. I'm used to drilling out and pinning those, only gluing on the inside of the body.
  7. Seismic events? My old model room in New Jersey Same room, another day! We were away for the weekend. A storm came through and shook the house. My shelves weren't up to it. Same shelves in my new room in Pennsylvania are up there with screws that must stick out through the exterior siding! And I don't put heavy stuff up there any more! Lesson learned.
  8. Remember that this one was the famous "Make It - Take It" program car. They gave a ton of these to Michael's stores. A member of our club found them as bag kits on the store shelf for super cheap and bought them. So they became a club project. Pretty promo-like. Nicely molded, I enjoyed building it with my own retro twist.
  9. Very nice Caddy! I often wonder about people who sell things they've had since they were a kid. I'm a sentimental old fool, you'd have to buy it from my estate!
  10. Some releases of Little Red Wagon First issues of the Lindy Dodge Grand Caravan... ask me how that kicked my tail! And the 1982 Chevy Cavalier kit
  11. I'll have to chime in with the choir. I am excited to have your parts for my 1960 GMC project. I just haven't kicked it off yet. Still trying to get two projects off the bench to clear it off!
  12. I am thinking that you are wanting a stock looking gas tank, and Alan's suggestion is spot on. There's nothing like a part from another kit. But, if you will entertain a custom look, see the above photo. This is nothing more than a length of Evergreen tubing, with a round shape.. something like a headlight lens, on each end. Plus a kit gas cap. All done in Alclad chrome. Per Alan's comment about the gap you need to fill between the frame ends, this solution would allow you to cut a gas tank to whatever length you need to fill your gap and look convincing.
  13. Not today, but this past week. From a Philadelphia parking garage...
  14. Sounds good Ron. I have at least two 69 rebuilders and I’m planning on building my yellow & black dream car from back then. I also have an R&R wagon kit I’ll have to take another look at. I remember some things being wonky about it including crooked tail lights molded in.
  15. My wife will complain that I should come downstairs and watch TV with her. So I do. Five minutes later she has fallen asleep, so I go back up to the model room. There are times I will work for a few hours and then return to my chair in the den. She wakes up. Never knew I was gone!
  16. Thanks! Glad to have helped!
  17. Hey, we were hungry and didn't want to go anywhere! Cheese Dogs with hot pepper relish!
  18. Thanks Dan! Here's the required specifications: https://www.theraceofgentlemen.com/race-entry Note that they are a bit loose. For instance there were cars with headlights running. Also noted cars with interesting but period drive trains such as Hudson Super Six and Packard Straight Eights. See those in my photos...
  19. I just saw this thread for the first time. I love what you are doing with this ancient kit. That steering wheel was a topic when Model King first restored the kit. I checked an old original issue I had and it was the same way. It's a misaligned tool, that's always been that way! Our comment back in 2006...
  20. I have not yet touched the Trabbie... as long as grokking it in the box and muttering to myself doesn't count. But I have been working on a model. Somehow an old original Blue Beetle appeared and has jumped the line! The 'beetle should be rolling off the assembly line within the next week. Then I'll get to the Trabant.
  21. and that sir is why we call you Crazy Jim! ?
  22. I've trained myself to avoid that one. Especially helpful for future owners of my stash! I have a stack of old obsolete business cards I use in the hobby room for a bunch of different uses, so whenever I take parts from a kit, I jot it on a card and toss it in the box.
  23. Neat! Can't wait to see your progress. I bought a 1960 that was worse than yours at Toledo for $10. Only thing to salvage on mine is the bed, which is just what I needed for a project.
  24. Brilliant work! I'm enjoying this thread a whole lot! If you are still interested in doing a TROG car, see my album. My friend Bill and I attended TROG in Wildwood, NJ last month. It was a fantastic experience. https://public.fotki.com/ModelCitizen/11_car_reference_library/car-shows-and-cruis/trog-the-race-of-ge/ Here's a few photos to get ya going!
