  1. My wife wanted to go to Hobby Lobby on Saturday to look at Christmas ornaments. So I went along for the ride. I went to the model aisle and there was a guy sitting on the floor with his son. The kid was around 10 years old. They have the Visible V8 in front of them and are reading the package. The guy asks me if they are in my way, which they weren't, but that started a conversation. He said he was teaching his son about cars and wanted to build this engine with him. I gave him my opinion of the kit and told him as long as he did the building, they'd be good. He then said, "But man, it's $75." He didn't know about the 40% off coupon so I showed him how to get it on his phone. He was grinning ear to ear and headed to the register with his now $45 kit. My good deed for the day. My wife got a few ornaments but I didn't buy anything at all. Of course later in the day when I went to spray a bit of paint on my Blue Beetle, the can sprayed dry. So I headed back to the store for a new can! And of course I used the coupon.
  2. That's great Joe! Good for you!
  3. I have both the Granada and the Mercury Monarch. The interest is that it was the only kit ever done. If you are interested in the 1:1, it's the only game! I had a 1:1 '77 Monarch back in the day. Silver of course, with a blue bucket interior. Buckets were unusual for a 4 door sedan back in the day.
  4. Very, very nice! I was watching the build with great interest. You knocked this one out of the park!
  5. Of course they didn't mention that Hobby Lobby came storming into the territory within the past few years. I'll bet that had a lot to do with it also. I was in HL on Saturday and man, the place was mobbed.
  6. Recent announcement, they are calling it quits! https://www.burlingtoncountytimes.com/news/20191125/ac-moore-announces-plans-to-close-all-its-stores?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=gh-burlingtonct-main&fbclid=IwAR0nR4gDEqc1ePCj3sd-L0psq8gC49-9D_f8u1fwzQxGkbBj-lO1Gn3Luhw
  7. Very nice work! As said, those were fiddly kits. Very hard to get a credible model from them! I'll offer up my Surfite to add to your set. I didn't bring it to Liars because I couldn't find the surf board. I built this one right after the kit was reissued. There was a lot of fit issues, lots of ejector pin and mold lines to clean up. I swore off any more Roth cars after this one!
  8. Mad Modeling is Chris Morgan MAD is Morgan Automotive Detail. He;'s good people!
  9. Very cool build! Anyone else notice that this kit was barely out and disappeared all together. I never even see them for sale at shows. I bet we would eat up a reissue too!
  10. I love your mantle clock! I have a couple of them including the one my grandparents got as a wedding gift in 1932.
  11. Hmmmm.... Mr Williams has gone silent! ?
  12. Good luck Bill. A perfect place to start a rust free body panel business. All of us in the rust belt would be your customers!
  13. First, if you are building resin bodies, a lot of them need clean up where the windshield will mount. Some bodies are too thick and will require thinning so the glass doesn't appear to be in a deep hole. Others need the mounting surfaces sanded to flatten them out. Check yours before you paint the body! I agree with others on types of plastic to use. I will add one more tip. As you are trying to get the flat windshield to hold in place, this tape helps! It's two sided tape for scrap book folks. It's clear. I bought it in Hobby Lobby or Michaels. You can use it all the way around and it sticks very well. I don't see any failure on cars I did with this a few years ago. And / Or... use it to hold the windshield in place and use the canopy cement or appoxy as you would normally around the edges.
  14. I bought a couple earlier releases for the Chevy six cylinder engines. I would've bought more for the go-karts but someone on Facebook sold me two of them for $10 plus shipping.
  15. Yup I remember those trucks running around Cigli Air Force base in Turkey when I was a kid. They also had tons of Dodge 4 door pickups. Every one I've seen in private hands later in life started out as a military vehicle. I'll bet they were created specifically for a government bid.
  16. Makes perfect since to me. German car with Gummi Bear wheels!
  17. Yea! Some folks know I had a 1:1 1965 Barracuda for many years. I couldn't pass up buying this in Walmart yesterday! I was really stoked to discover this in the store. It brings back the days when I could go to a hobby shop and see kits I didn't know exist. But we're much too informed these days to do that anymore!
  18. and don't forget the theme for NNL East 2020 is "Known Survivors" those models we built using all the custom parts!
  19. and very brave from inside a moving vehicle! ?
  20. When I'm building I hear this voice.... "What are you doing up there all day?" "Can you come down and watch TV with me?" "D I N N E R !!"
  21. My wife had some discount movie tickets she got at work. I wanted to see this movie. She wanted to see the Mr Rogers movie. Since they were her tickets we saw Mr Rogers. One word.... DON'T!
  22. Good idea! A lot of the elements in the Diversified Scalerz diorama are set on top of magnets.
