Anything New at Hobby Lobby?
Tom Geiger replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nothing new at mine either! I breezed through yesterday for a quick look. Used my magic coupon to buy some K&S aluminum tubing. Yea, I'll even use the coupon for cheap stuff if there's nothing else I need or want. -
Very nice work! This and the Foose Ford pickup are great kits with tons of parts we can use for other projects. I have two of this Caddy and at least four of the pickup. I chuckle a bit about the moaning when Revell announced these kits.

Just a damp dreary day here in Eastern Pennsylvania. It's about 34 degrees out and it will over high 20s to low 30s through tomorrow, then back up into the 40s. The weekly leaf and stick pickup is tomorrow so I was out bagging stuff this morning and hauling the past few days worth to the curb. My hand truck metal handle is cold!

Can we see your model stash?

I have a load of duplicates. I go to a lot of shows, and I will buy different $5 kits just to use for parts. I will also buy cheap kits of kits I like... 1950 and 1953 Ford pickups, Monogram Model As, AMT 55-57 Chevy pickups. In fact at one point I realized I had a dozen 1950 Ford pickup kits. I took 5 open ones and dumped them into a plastic tub to work out of. It makes it easy to take chances on modifications since I have more. I probably screwed up three interiors to get the sectioned one into the Scary Little Rod! I also buy cheap kits for favorite parts. Anything with a 6 cylinder engine, AMT Dusters and Revell Darts for chassis for future Valiant models. AMT '57 Fords for future old custom restorations... that kind of stuff. -
Saturday morning I woke up at my daughter's house in New Jersey. My friend pulled up to pick me up to go to the Liars Show on Long Island. As I got my models out, my car was covered with frost. It was F- cold! I was happy to get into his already warm car! Then it warmed up. Today in the Philly suburbs we were working outside without coats. Tomorrow is supposed to be good, then the rest of the week is questionable!

Very nice work, one of my favorite kits. If you haven’t seen the episode of Overhauling where the team builds the truck, look it up! -

If Dave Burket gets his way, they’ll go all the way back to the 1957! -

Which may not be hard these days.... I went to a hobby shop in Aberdeen, NJ yesterday to get some Tamiya paints. They might have had two dozen kits total on their shelves. They carry all the paints for RC cars. -
any caster make these??

Rick Hanmore displayed this one at the Liars Show this past Saturday. I think it was Modelhaus? Not mentioned on the card. -
I would have liked to meet you too! Three hour ride, no problem! There were guys from Massachusetts there too! Actually I was staying the weekend at my daughter's house in NJ, so it was only a 2 hr ride this year!

I was there. Had a good day, displayed six models, bought very little!

The very few things I bought at the Liars show yesterday. A Revell Model A woody for $10, two sad old Model Ts in a baggie for $5 and a prewired distributor for my Blue Beetle resto project. I spent a total of 20. I had plenty of money in my pocket but just didn’t see anything I really needed.

My local store has cards hanging off the shelf saying that model kits make great gifts. So they should be aware to stock up for the giving season! -

It’s funny... this thread reminds me of being a teenager and looking at a friend’s record collection. A lot of stuff you have (like everyone had the Frampton Comes Alive album), some stuff you don’t want and some that you want! -
Using micro drills on distributors etc....
Tom Geiger replied to Nitrobarry's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have Norm's distributors and the early ones weren't marked for which wires to use. I figured out it was the Detail Master wire, which is a very thin wire and thinner than most other brands. -

Great project! And that was a quick one! -
Here's the bomber seats from the Revell '32. Great seats! You will have to drill those holes through.

I own a six bedroom house and it's just the wife and I. Two bedrooms are guest rooms... called my daughter's rooms, although they live in another state. One bedroom is a sitting room with a couch and chair. Nobody sits there. The two smallest bedrooms... one is my wife's photo / scrap book room... don't think she's opened the door in a year. The final bedroom is my model room!

The percentage of the vote is part of the game. When voter turnout will be the lightest, towns sneak budgets, raises and such past the voters. They make sure all their croneys are sure to vote!

Saw this on FB

It's been said that Okey just bought tooling and parts at that auction. I don't know if he officially got the Johan name in any form, or registered it himself. The website listed on that page is jo-han.com, and the ownership comes back as go.daddy.com but most people hide behind their service provider so they don't get besieged with web service offerings. The phone number is a 602 exchange, which is Phoenix, Az. Now Johan.com is owned by another company, Uniregistrar Corp., registered in the Cayman Islands. They just have a place holder page up. They look like one of those companies that buys abandoned URLs. Interesting for sure! -
What Did You Have for Dinner?
Tom Geiger replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The thing Americans do wrong with pasta, is that they drown it in sauce. When you order pasta in Italy, it will have a dollop of sauce on top. And meat sauce, not meat balls... those are an American invention
