  1. My Hyundai was back in the shop over the holidays. The shop I use is in the background of the above photo. They share a lot with a custom car business. I got to talking with my shop’s owner.. Ike from the original Jungle Jim race team.. and he told me who owned the other shop.. turns out I know him and knew he was into cars, but had no idea he had a large collection and has this as a side business! All three of these are Ron’s! This would make for an interesting model. Light enough that a single guy pushed it back into the shop! This pickup is calling my name! I could build this!
  2. I remember reading that the average stay in the hobby is 18 months.. so in theory you could reissue every kit every two years and it’s a whole new audience. And the comment, “I see loads of that kit at shows for $5-10!” Doesn’t fly either since the target audience doesn’t attend (or even know about) our shows.
  3. That is really cool! I always liked the Turbine. Just sad Chrysler didn’t pony up the taxes on the fleet to save them!
  4. Ya know.. I’m on a stamp collectors board. International community and we can discuss world affairs within the bounds of decency. It remains civil. I like it since I indeed want to know what my colleagues around the world are doing with Covid and current affairs. I do understand where it goes off the tracks rather quickly. Some of our respected community are raving loonies on Facebook!
  5. I said exactly this on Facebook a while back and got a warning for making a terroristic threat! ? Great year in models Gareth! Just looking at that Chrysler's rear bumper I was thinking you'd need two guys to carry it! One heavy unit!
  6. Brief flurries this morning here west of Philadelphia... my wife started fretting over it until I informed her that it was 36 degrees out and the stuff would just melt as it touched the ground! And lets keep it that way!
  7. Nice! We need more models of current vehicles
  8. No brainer purchase! I couldn’t reach for my wallet fast enough!
  9. I’m not a fan of brush strokes since nature doesn’t provide them. ? My advice is to dab on your finishes instead of brushing. You said you’re artistic so think of this as a multimedia sculpture, weathering is akin to creating a water color painting
  10. Any advice on making rust builds? Your tailgate is spot on. I can see sanding lines on the fender. Do your wet sanding in a circular motion to eliminate that. And Testors Dullcote is your friend. Great start on one of my favorite kits. I’m watching!
  11. A great year despite the circumstances! I was home and building a lot through the pandemic, but by August I maxed out on model building and haven’t touched anything since!
  12. Welcome! Those are some of our favorite kits! And here’s a Chevy I pass every day on my way to work!
  13. Old Christmas ? movies ?
  14. And now that the magazine is on a regular schedule I’m hoping the “wait and see” doubters will now pony up and subscribe! I just renewed mine for another two years.
  15. I’ve listed it as “toy car”. I figure I’m working with the lowest level of understanding here!
  16. Exactly! Avenel Hobbies in New Jersey was mainly a car plastic model store. They didn’t even have RC. They closed up about a year after Hobby Lobby opened. People would come into the store with HLs 40% off coupons demanding that the shop match it! When they shut down after 30 years, the owner said it was directly because of HL. So all of us are guilty of driving the hobby shops out of business for a few bucks!
  17. Hobby Lobby is big on having the shelves look full and will move paints around in the Testors rack to make it look full. No matter that there’s now green paint where the flat black should be!
  18. Bingo! Every time I see a rant by one of our herd that how dare they reissue a kit you can buy at a swap meet for $10... but the target audience doesn't know about swap meets! ?
  19. My daughter is a big Amazon Prime customer. Being at her house for the day, you can count on several different deliveries! Anyway I saw something for my wife for Christmas on Amazon. I sent the link to my daughter. She immediately ordered it and it arrived the next day.
  20. They don't have personnel to sort mail locally. Everything goes to the sort center where it's sorted by machines into the exact route order. A while back I thought I'd test it. I dropped a post card to myself at the local PO in Exton, PA. It arrived the very next day with the Wilmington, Delaware sorting center postmark on it. No doubt it left Exton at 5-6pm, was sorted in Delaware and was sent back in the wee hours of the morning to be in my carrier's truck by 6am!
  21. Hey! I've already created the prototypes! ? Once I retire I'd like to have some kind of Roadster pickup... old school with an odd 1950s engine... no Chevy power! If I win the lottery I'll have Kindigit Design build the yellow one for me!
