  1. This morning! A woman in a Lincoln Navigator... the second the right turn signal came on she gave me several blasts of the horn. I turned quickly and then she made sure she blasted past me, glaring at me.. of course she then traveled 40mph in the 45mph zone for most of my trip to work!
  2. I have a Shawn Carpenter trans kit to turn the AMT 50 Chevy pickup into a GMC. It's just the grille and tail gate. I understand the difference in engine, but where is the 2" extra inches? Obviously it's because of the engine but was the firewall moved further into the passenger compartment? or is the hood / fenders longer and won't interchange? I'm thinking the first option since it was mentioned that the two trucks were the same length.
  3. I remember that too! And R&R did a limited edition resin, signed by Roth for more than I wanted to spend. So in 1993 I jumped in the reissue. It was the first time I could get a previously rare kit for $15. It felt strange digging in and building it!
  4. Ah! Always the ones we remember. I built mine as a replica of a friend’s van circa 1977.
  5. Exactly! As Bob Paeth explained it to me at GSL one year! The hut was an afterthought when they saw how little plastic was sitting in that standard size box!
  6. Reading the last few responses.. yea today I don’t take apart my finished models. As a kid it was difficult to get models, and I didn’t have a big parts hoard, so my next great idea may have required the engine or wheels off my last finished model. We made do with things we had around the house. I’ll bet I’m not the only one who painted models with Q-Tips. And if my father had a spray can of anything, that’s what the color of my new build would be! That’s why my T’rantula dragster was Christmas green!
  7. Men’s room attendants?
  8. Here’s two pix of mine, built when this kit came back from the dead. It is typical wonky Revell of it’s era. Ambitiously complicated with full detail with fiddly fragile parts. Loads of seams and ejector pins to fix. Assembly reveals gaps to fill between body, bumpers and interior fit. It was work but nothing we can’t handle. The Tiki Hut was fun and I enjoyed the detail painting here.
  9. Great project! It was fun following along!
  10. Wow! I like this a whole lot! There were a lot of Pintos in use back in the day, especially wagons. I’ve long planned on building one but you beat me to it!
  11. Looks like you have figured it out! Proportions look good!
  12. My backyard is wooded so I have to keep up with the leaves. Spent 4 hours last Sunday just blowing the backyard leaves into the woods. I looked out on Thanksgiving morning and it looked like I had never touched it. Completely covered again! It was very windy all day Friday. Got up this morning and yard was clear. Wind blew it all away!
  13. Nice rendition! I built one of these too. And I have another body in my stash!
  14. And mid air collisions between the tuner guys?! Every weekend news show in Philly reports the previous evenings spectacular 100 mph crash with little bits of Dodge Charger and Honda visible! Imagine letting these boys fly?
  15. My trusty Hyundai Elantra developed a bad miss on my way to work on Wednesday. I checked a few things and decided I wasn't messing with it, so I took it up to my regular garage to get it fixed. Guy tells me they are super busy and wants me to make an appointment for Dec 11th.. no matter that the car I need for work isn’t running well enough to drive. Great way to treat regular customers! He tells me all the garages are backed up, need help, can’t get parts.. the pandemic ya know. Everyone’s excuse for everything these days! So I drive around. Several garages are closed, taking Thanksgiving seriously. I land at one with a cheerful young guy. He tells me he can work on it Tuesday.. but wait, he’ll have a mechanic put it on the computer to at least let me know what’s wrong. Guy comes in and tells me one of my four coils is bad. They make a phone call and yes they can get that today along with a new set of plugs. And they fix it while I wait! They had this huge display of diecast cars.. in the case and all over the office. Up top is Jungle Jim’s Vega.. Jim was a local.. so I ask about that and find out the owner of the shop was on Jim’s pit crew! I pull out my phone and show them some of my models. Now we’re friends. And now I have a new garage! It was a very good day!
  16. "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." Les Nessman They'll be falling out of the skies Bill!
  17. I’m surprised the Americans could sell their cars locally! When we lived in Germany it wasn’t allowed. A lot of US military would buy a new Mercedes to take home, leaving their American cars behind. Their only options were to either sell them to another American or turn them in at the yard on post. They’d keep a certain amount around for parts, and scrap the rest. It was normal to see stacks of 4-5 year old cars ready for the crusher.
  18. Great work! You really nailed that air cleaner!
