  1. My wife’s uncle and his wife turned their wine hobby into a business. If you have the book “Wine For Dummies” and the subsequent releases, that’s them! They’ve done well! Which has my wife asking why I cannot do that with my hobby.
  2. Okay my chuckle of the day… we had our first model club meeting (we had Zoom meetings during the pandemic) in a year and a half! It was great to get together! We always have food from a specific shop that does excellent fried chicken and acceptable pizza. I went to my phone to call in our usual order… no answer! I even dialed back! We thought it was weird, so Tim and I agreed to drive over there. This is what we found: A hole in the ground! We thought maybe the store shut down (we were hoping they were maybe too busy to answer the phone), but we weren’t prepared to find the entire building missing! Man, the things that have changed in a year and a half! Note- we went to their other location and indeed were fed.
  3. I’m babysitting folks who make that right now, some of which are pretty much useless. If you are 45 years old and still making minimum wage YOU are the problem! My wife worked in HR for a school bus company. They were hiring drivers for $15-20 an hour for a 6 hr day. She’d talk about the applications from people who at 45 had never held more than minimum wage retail type jobs. The company would even pay people to get their CDLs. And their expectation for applicants wasn’t that high! They lost many of them on the drivers license history, the drug test or criminal histories.
  4. Never said he was too smart of a guy! Actually people there were floored and separated him from the situation quickly. Irony was he called himself “Fonzie” um wasn’t that name copyrighted as part of the TV show?!
  5. If you want a gauge set for the D50, I created one for mine. I photo reduced it from a dealer brochure. I’d be pleased to share.
  6. Like a lot of the MPC annuals of this era, this is a nicely detailed kit that builds well. The chassis seems to fit nicely under a 40 Ford sedan delivery, may make a decent street rod option. There are a ton of these in circulation at shows super cheap. The one in the photo I bought for $5. Still, it will sell to hobby shop shoppers and Coke collectors.
  7. Sad enuf that they need to print the label at all! Only worse is the Halloween Superman cape label, “Warning! The cape will not enable the wearer to fly!” And you just know there was an incident!
  8. The Connie kit looks great! I real life I could see it on telescoping struts off the bumper.. pulls out far enough to allow gate to drop!
  9. Could be improvement!
  10. Good try! In my neighborhood the kids are too spoiled to do any work!
  11. That same storm seems to have shaken the trees enough here to lose their leaves. My yard is blanketed! Guess what I’m doing this weekend?
  12. Agreed! Just getting the bullet holes filled?
  13. They weren’t the best at communicating but the unit showed up within two weeks. Best thing I ever bought for the hobby. You will enjoy it!
  14. Which is the whole point of having a hobby! ?
  15. Easy! George Washington is famous from being on the dollar bill! And Thomas Jefferson was on that TV show “The Jeffersons” with Archie Bunker
  16. A funny story.. Last week at work a guy in his 20s and I were cleaning up a storeroom. As we were crushing some old boxes by stomping on them, I remarked that I felt like Lucy and Ethel stomping on the grapes! He just looked at me with a blank stare.. So I said, “On the old show, “I Love Lucy”? “Lucille Ball?” Nope! He had never heard of it!
  17. Today I was on eBay looking for a large lot of my favorite postal items to sort through for my own collection and sell the rest. So I went to my usual category and put “lot” as the search term.. I came across a clueless seller who was listing single items.. his auction titles were “Lot #1” and so on.. he listed over 100 items like that!
  18. Facebook has put me in contact with long list friends and I can keep up with what’s going on with relatives. Then again some of the nice people we know on the model boards can be raving political lunatics there! And for their recently announced aspirations, some might remember I did some work for Facebook in 2019 in Seattle.. yup, I set up the asset management system for their virtual reality labs!
  19. Looks great. I’m an eternal Valiant fan so it’s nice to see one built. I have a 71 Duster chassis fitted under one I’m building
  20. My father and I used to browse a government car auction in NJ. They had everything from stripper fleet cars to used police cars and confiscated cars. One time there was a BMW like this there. We didn’t bid, figured it probably was a drug confiscation and didn’t want to run into the previous owner driving it!
  21. Looks great! I enjoyed the process too!
