  1. Very kewl. I'd like to see the top folded down, but that's my taste. Digging the build as is!
  2. Great save, and a GORGEOUS model. The red is outstanding, especially. Absolutely love the big Ford wagons of all types. Well done and then some.
  3. Very nice looking; the stripes compliment the body perfectly. Is this or the other Chevelle in the pic posted here "Under Glass"? Would love to see more of each!
  4. Are you sure it's a Jimmy Flintstone? I just perused his site, and didn't see one listed among 313 car and truck bodies. Jimmy's are usually cleaner, with less flash left in. I would have guessed that body came from R&R, from awhile back. (RIP Ray) Ray had some unusual subjects in his resin choices, and a Plymouth COE truck would be right up his alley. If it was from JF, it might be discontinued.
  5. Looking good. That Tamiya paint responded well to wet coats, didn't it?! Nice color, too. Thanks for posting that nice engine bay reference pic, that will be helpful to many.
  6. Mike, this is the place to learn, so welcome aboard! The work exhibited here covers the range from "my first model car" to "museum quality", and all in between. It is inspirational to see what others have accomplished, to the point of helping you to raise the bar for your own builds. You'll get encouragement, you'll get advice from the guys who've already made the mistakes you may be headed for, and you will see improvement! Discussions can get a little heated; we all have opinions, and we're older and crotchety, so bear with us and remember there's more than one way to skin a cat. Take advice with a grain of salt, but mostly, you'll get good-to-great advice. If you haven't looked around much, you'll find 2 major divisions of the forum: one for WIPs (Works In Progress) and one for work "Under Glass" for the finished build. We hope to see you soon in both! Under those headings, you'll find a specific category for NASCAR builds, and another for "Other Racing..." Sounds like we'll be seeing you in both. This may be redundant info, you never know how new the newbie is! Ask questions, have fun!
  7. Very impressive array of racers, and well crafted models they are. Dig 'em all, but "The Fugitive" and the "Gas Junkie" are SO right! Great stuff.
  8. Very nice looking Chevelle, and your changes made it something really special. SHARP! Who made the diecast '69, I may need to pick one up?!
  9. Cool to see you continuing this one. That interior is SHARP!
  10. What a cool ride! I never get tired of these models, and this one is NICE. Love it. Well done.
  11. Cool to see those built kits, thanks for posting!
  12. +1 on the fun factor! This is great model car, period. Everything about it exemplifies the fun that comes with building model cars. The finishes you've chosen give it such character that it would still stand out on a shelf full of builds of the same basic kit. Fantastic save, and just too cool!
  13. Agreed! It was my first impulse at seeing the design," That's a 1940s Batmobile without trying hard." Beautifully rendered by Mr. Jesse.
  14. Great looking model, and the color is perfect for it!
  15. Cool color, and nice work on those headers! They look authentic.
  16. Very nice, love the green!
  17. Could be lighting, could be differences in monitors and their color calibrations, or a combination of both. Ain't technology grand?! You'll notice quite a few posts on here where the poster will remark something along the lines of, "... not sure about my pictures, it looks more (or less) -insert color here- in person."Or brighter. Or darker, etc... Anyway, it sure wasn't meant to offend; on my computer, it's a beautiful bright red!
  18. These kind of kits are very much worth building, if only for lessons learned. Great to practice new techniques on, or try out a color to see how it looks on a completed build. Also a perfect basis for an all-out custom. That being said, this build looks very nice, and on the shelf is going to make a nice display. Love the red, and the SS hood! I picked up a couple of these kits when Ollie's had them, just for extra bits and pieces.
  19. Very sharp build, and yep, it captures precisely the type of thing Monogram might have offered. Well done.
  20. Hey Roman, watch out for those upside-down door handles on the door panels, just in front of the armrests; AMT goofed there. Some builders ignore it, others fix it by foil-copying them, then moving one side to the other and flipping them over. You may have another solution.(?) How they should look:
  21. Oops. I got those parts from TNT after you passed on them; needed to complete a TD Paddy Wagon kit. I waited to see if you were going to take them before I contacted him! Sorry 'bout that.
  22. What Louisville show might that be? Do you have a link to info? Thanks!
  23. Beautiful racer, and nicely detailed. Well done.
  24. Very cool rods.
