  1. I'm not even going to bother trying to track down any of my previous cars. I know the Crown Vic and the Cadillac are both still out there being driven. Someone must have really put some money in the Caddy, it had a cracked head and the top end isn't supposed to be able to be rebuilt. Everything before those were junked. Both Escorts, the Dodge A100 van, the Monte Carlo and my beloved Skylark. Don't care about the stupid Volare.
  2. I keep hoping someone will buy them out and continue their work. I'm looking forward to seeing this one built, looks like it'll be nice.
  3. Really like the Valiant ute. Something like that would be awesome done as a little Barracuda truck.
  4. The one's I'm referring to are the Acryl line of acrylic enamels by Testors. Tamiya has acryilc enamel paints as well. They can be cleaned up with water and tend to dry better than the solvent enamels do. You can use the craft acrylics, but I don't think I would use them for any silver trim, they don't stick well to glossy finishes. They're awesome for interior colors and detail painting. You might also look into Games Workshop/Citadel Miniatures paints.
  5. It's sad that someone has to come onto forums and scam people.
  6. That's true on some accounts. They do not stick to gloss paints well. I think the next time I do any trim, I'm going to rough the surface just a bit.
  7. What about the silver acrylic paint? It should dry a lot faster/harder than the brushed enamels. I've had a lot of luck with those.
  8. Okay, I NEED one of these for a project. When is this kit out?
  9. that would suck Most definitely. I hope it's just a paint issue.
  10. It's absolutely fantastic so far. My own two cents on the build are that there might be a little too much space between the body and the nose, and the front axle looks a little wide. It's a gorgeous build.
  11. Working doors on the kit. I bet the A-pillars snapped. Those things have to be like spaghetti.
  12. I like it! Reminds me of the T-bird in the Nightmare Kits CBP post Plowboy built.
  13. Looks really good! I wondered about doing that.
  14. I've been using the Testors liquid glue in the black squeeze bottle and have been having good luck. It's thick enough that it'll stay put, but does actually fuse things together. I typically use it for something I want structurally stronger.
  15. Looks good!! Didn't they do a Packard in this series, as well? I've been really curious about these kits.
  16. I'd still like to get one of the Auburns and correct it. See if it could be made to look more like the 1:1.
  17. Definitely ODD.
  18. I'm a member of about 3 forums, but I only "lurk" on one (and I'm going to start participating on it more). I try to participate as much as I can. I'm usually doing the forum thing at work, and save my home time for actual building.
  19. I've got a glue bomb of one I'm going to be rebuilding. It looks like a nice kit, but the suspension is fragile, be careful when assembling.
  20. Looks like you could build the '42 using the IMC kits. They came with the extra parts to do the 46-48. The lights and everything else appear to be the same, you'd just need the correct grille.
  21. You might also mix parts to make a different version of a car. I've used the smaller engine out of a '67 GTO to simulate a small block for a "downgrade", making a 70 Buick GSX into a 72 Skylark Custom, and parts from various kits and some scratchbuilding to make a 71 Charger R/T into a base model. I've also got a 440 Six Pack from a Superbird, and I'm going to redo the intake for a 4 barrel carb and make it a 383 for my 68 Road Runner. I've also swapped things around for accuracy's sake, like using the engine/transmission out of the 87 Monte Carlo SS as a replacement for the piece of junk in the Trumpeter 1978 Monte Carlo.
  22. Nice work!
  23. Same here, paint the top/lighter color first, then mask off and spray the darker/bottom. I use painter's tape as well.
  24. Gonna have to get one of these. I love the '48 ford.
