Nope, apparently not.

Over the weekend, I got in a lot containing a 1967 Chevy Impala, a 1966 Chevy Malibu flip-nose street rod, and a crappy 1957 Chevy kit (old Revell Hot Rod series). Also got in a Full Detail Chezoom by Boyd Coddington. The Impala is pretty complete. A little soak in the stripper will clear it up. The Malibu is a little rough, but nothing that can't be fixed. I think I'm gonna make it a straight gasser. The Chezoom will be built "stock", except for the missing wheels and tires. Those will be parts box spares.

Bizarre question time.

I use one of our kitchen chairs. I'll just drag it back into the main room when we have company. Can't afford a good office chair, and the cheap ones don't have the weight capacity I need. -
Least favorite?

Definitely Second the Volare/Aspen. I owned one, and hated the fershlugginer thing. I'd also nominate the first generation Cadillac Northstar V-8. They have a fault where if the engine loses coolant, the heads crack because the material is too thin around the head bolts. Sadly, the material was so thin as a safety feature to allow the engine to cool IN CASE OF coolant loss. It was meant to act as air cooling. Had a Deville Concours. Phenomenal car, otherwise, but once the water pump blew it was junk. It still ran great, but it wouldn't hold coolant anymore. -
I feel the same way about Volare's. My parents bought me one right after my beloved Skylark bit the dust. Hated that thing from the word go. I went from a car that had a 350 and a TH400 transmission to a "Super" slant six. Ugly grey/silver with a red interior. I'd either build and stomp it or see how many firecrackers it would hold.

Looks good!!

I believe he used Easy-Off oven cleaner. I haven't resorted to using that yet, but it looks like it did a good job.

The very first '53 Chevy I built! Still alive!

Very nice! Better than I was doing at 14. -
1972 Dodge Charger 1/1 Copy update 05/11/16

It's still listed on their site under Automotive Sprays: Citrus Yellow Metallic - Gloss28101 - 3 oz. Lacquer Sprays You might also look at the Lime Ice in the One Coat lacquers line. Personally, I think the Citrus Yellow might be a closer match. -
It was really nice of them to return your kit. I'll be watching this one.

I think I'd leave the body and trim, and whatever chassis details that were done, and put the rest together. That way, you aren't so much changing his vision as just finishing the job. Looks really nice, BTW.

1972 Dodge Charger 1/1 Copy update 05/11/16

The color is Testor's Citrus Yellow Metallic. Was pretty much dead on the 1/1 car. The wheels are Cragar S/S ordered from online. The original car was pretty beat when he got it. It was missing an engine mount, so when he'd try to go up the hill, the engine would flop and almost dumped out. He got ripped off by the sales place a little. Engine was eventually destroyed by a cold winter and no antifreeze. -

Finally went to my brother's house and got pics of the one I did. This is pretty dead on to what his car looked like. Wish I could have gotten the dash as well... And definitely not hijacking your thread. -
Two of Quiet Riot's biggest songs were covers: Cum On Feel The Noize: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Haypxj24_Uw and Mama Weer All Crazee Now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD8RAhCAyt4 Both songs were HUGE hits, and Metal Health was the first metal album to top the Billboard charts. Okay, I'm excited. My grandparents used to buy me one of these when we'd go to the store. After all the moves, I lost all my back issues. So I'll definitely be getting a subscription to this again.

Think I'd just dust her off and keep her as is.

How many people fully detail a model?
Deathgoblin replied to ERIK88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love to look at the super-detailed builds, but I don't have the patience to do it myself. I do enjoy doing the flocking/embossing powder for carpet and the plug wires, but I wouldn't be able to stand doing much more. MAYBE brake or fuel lines... -
Very Nice!!

I'm the same way. For some reason, it just doesn't look complete without the black frame rails. So far, this is an amazing build, especially the interior.

Blue on Black, Kenny Wayne Sheppard. Awesome song!

Congratulations! Sounds like you've even got your own built-in wedding party.

That's gorgeous. Someone needs to kit this car again.
