Just remembered... "Modern Family" with Ed O'Neill as Jay Pritchett as the grandfather figure is a model builder on the show. They got into his "forbidden room", and there were model airplanes and RC aircraft, and even model space stuff (which ends up being the focus of the episode).

Had several of the 1/8 ones that were very nice, would love to have them back, but finding a place to put them: 1985 Corvette 1/8 scale IROC Camaro 1/8 scale Golden T Street Rod 1/8 Also had some others that were pretty nice. Most of my older kits weren't that rare: Jo-Han 1964 Cadillac Aurora/Revellogram Aston-Marton DB4 Pretty much most of the ones I used to have are still relatively easily available.

Went to the LHS last night with some christmas money, came out with the AMT 1968 Roadrunner kit, a bottle of AllClad Chrome and a new pair of sprue cutters (the spring in my last pair broke). Only complaint about the RR is this: For a kit that's obviously a newer tool, why did they go with the molded chrome headlights and chrome taillights?

I've also heard of using panty hose to do carbon fiber. Paint the parts gloss black, cover with panty hose (or for a more fitted look, use spray adhesive to stick it better to the part), and then mist with dark metallic gray or other dark metallic color.

My wife bought me a Revell 1971 Plymouth GTX. I have one, but hey, I can either do it in another color or make something else out of it. My mom got me a Revell 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. I've looked through this one and it appears to be an outstanding kit.

I'm gonna have to get some of the Bondic. That looks awesome to replace some of the molded pieces.

If they come in toasted coconut, I'm in trouble.

It would probably involve combining a NASCAR kit with one of the current muscle cars, and maybe some of the racing kits like the Daytona Corvette C5-R or Rain-X/Hot Wheels Camaros. I'd like to see what you come up with.

Man... I miss bench seats. Buckets and center consoles in newer cars are little narrow on my rear end.

Looks to me like Round 2 is doing a bang-up job of going through their molds. I'm definitely looking forward to the Pinto and the Sunbeam both. I'm still going to get a Volare and burn it in effigy. I had one, and we hated each other as much as an owner and car possibly could.

Body looks really good! Can't wait to see what you do with the mechanicals.

Am I weird for thinking the Pinto and the Pangra both are kinda cute? I bet you could throw a small block Ford engine and decent suspension on one and have a nasty little monster.

Good Point! I've really had some awful ones from AMT and Revell both. Also, the 1/20th scale Lindbergs are nice if you can find them. I just recently built one of the Dodge Stealth kits and had forgotten how good it was.

This is one of the outstanding kits made by Lindberg. They had several that were a modern tooling, the 53 Ford, 1966 Olds Cutlass 442, 1966 Chevelle, Dodge 330. They're as good as any kit by AMT/Revell.

I've got a few gluebombs in my stash. It really is the way to get a rarer kit cheap. My first was actually the first kit I got when I went back to cars, an Aston Martin DB4. It was too far gone, but other attempts have gone much better. You develop the skills to disassemble, rebuild and repair as you go. So far, I've salvaged a Lamborghini Countach and a 1949 Ford Coupe among others.

Whatever trips my trigger. I've got my next few planned out: working on a 2010 Dodge Challenger now, next is a BMW 635csi, and then an Austin Healey 100-6 gluebomb to restore.

Was looking at the floorplans and diagrams of one of these. I'd never seen a split-level trailer before. It's really neat.

I just finished one of these. Hopefully they didn't switch the front end to a solid axle, it would defeat the poseable front steering. It's a good kit. Definitely gives you some practice with foil if you hadn't had any before.
