Edsel-Dan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There were 6 kits in this series It was done a few times. I also have a few in the "Winter-Chill" version The 6 kits were the 34 Ford (Former ZZ Top Coupe) 55 Chevy, 68 GTO, 69 Camaro, Z-28 (as shown above), 70 Mustang Mach-1, and 78 Corvette. I have SEVERAL of All 6!!!! Here are the 6 of the series; Many were also done in Spy Gadget, and Cyborg/Cyber version Color of car was bigest difference between series/version The 70 Mustang is Blue in the Halloween series, and White in the Winter Chill -
Monogram 1/32nd scale kits from the past

Since they did not offer the International I guess they took the T600 (Closest overal shape??) and made it "Look" the part That does Not surprise me!! Not sure if they offered other Indy/Cart cars, but likely the only difference would have been Decals Also, unlike now, there were differences between Chevy teams (Or Ford--others) but in kit form only decals were different!!! -
I Am surprised to see the cargo door & spare tire compartment insert for the Sedan Delivery. And, why is the trailer tongue there too?? I though that trailer was self contained. It was offered once by itself through Blueprinter

OK on the Monte Carlo I do not think I have any In Fact, only know I have 2 of the Davey Allison T-Bird Monogram 1/32 nascar kits All others are AMT. I do No't believe Monogram used any other cab that the Standard or T-600 (Aero/Swoopy) KW Convertional in those transporter kits I need to look at the kit again to see if the Cab from the Allison kit is a T600 style or Standard KW I had to get the Aeromax separately!!!! I have the First issue Maroon of that Ford!!! -

I have 3 of the transporter kits Four if you count the 2 Kyle Petty!!!!! I also have the Davey Allison & Corporate Team-mate Mario/Michael Andretti CART set I know they also did Jeff Gordon's Dupont & John Force Funny Car team haulers BUT, I believe ALL have the same KW cab!!! Luckily Monogram did the Aeromax Ford so the Davey Allison/Robert Yates rig can be built Correctly And I have 2 of the Thunderbird's for the rig too!! (Just need to dig it out again!!) The Davey/Yates rig has the Lounge parts for the front trailer compartment while the Andretti rig has SHOP Equipment there DID Monogram have Monte Carlo's?? know at the time these came out Chevy teams ran Lumina's I do know Monogram did NOT offer the Grand Prix, so anyone doing Kyle Petty;s rig needs AMT kits for the cars!!! -

I hope that Revell eventually re-issues ALL of the Monogram & Revell 1/32 kits!!! And I believe there was more that One AMX!! I have seen an SST kit too (A Pink AMX & an Orange SST were listed on that evil Auctionbay site for $10.oo each built Not sure if they sold though) Also a VW Beetle, a Formula S Barracuda (I have one) the 56 Vette, 57 Chevy, T-Bird & Fairlane 500 I have at least 3 of the 3 57's!! and 2 of the 56 Vette and Cougar!! I have had 2 each of the Cooper Ford & Ferrari 275!! We Can NOT get the Revell late 70's Nova back as it was converted into a Custom El Camino, but the Van Should be salvagable!! EVEN Police & Fire versions!!! As to the MACK R, I think those Israeli rigs are DM cabs Not R's!! Look at the hoods!! And What about all the other Semi cabs Monogram had, Chevy Bison & GMC General Freightliner Conventional & COE, KW & Pete COE's & Conventionals!!! I think they had Both flat roof & Aerodyne KW's. at least in the COE (Maybe even the conventional too!) I still have One of the Ford Screamer that I will not build myself But need to make sure it is complete!! The Monogram Nova was a Glue kit With opening hood & engine Just like the 69 Charger, & EXP/LX7!! I have a Charger BOTH kit versions had all parts, only differences were decals & color of plastic!! Were there others in this series??? -
Kits with Old style BF Goodrich TA Radials
Edsel-Dan replied to fractalign's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Check most 80's Annuals!!! Also, I know the original issue of K.I.T.T had them!! (Does the last issue??) And YES MPC had 2 sizes But I do NOT remember them having both in one kit I have the smaller in kits like the Dodge Charger 2.2 Larger on Camaro's, Firebirds, and Vette's Though Indy used Firestone Or Goodyear those years, I believe the 82 Camaro & 86 Vette Pace Car kits had BFG's The AMT issue Ghostbuster's Ecto-1A SHOULD have had the BFG's but, it had the hollow Goodyears!! (Original Box Art clearly showed BFG's on the actual car One thing. The AMT Hollow Goodyears are Slightly larger in diameter that the MPC BFG's!!!! Was it Tamiya, or Otaki that offered the Big & Little sets with 4 different rims?? I have 2 sets on 5 slot rims with them. (MAYBE correct for the Red & White Stiped Tomato --but finding them now) rims Would have loved to get the Turbine style (A-Team Van!!--both Front pair of tires Are ON that!!--YES had to add to rim diameter) I THINK they May have been offered again by Arii at one time?? -
I HAVE that LP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, Darrel Waltrip & Cale Yarlborough Wish it were relieased on CD now!!!!

That Ford Street Rod started as a Miniature (Smaller0 Copy of the 1/24 ZZTop car!! It has been re-issued a few times a few of those Monogram 1/32 have been issued in Seasonal sets (Winter Chill, Halloween, etc) as well as other Themed series I was buying the Halloween & Winter Chill series at Wally's for as little as 50 CENTS each!!!!! Current ones run $10.oo or More each!!!! -
Trying to find pic's of the body in th eother kits Here is a "Promo" in the same Green as the Original kit (Might be a Built kit!--Notice broken mirror post, and Lack of black-out trim around windows & Pillars!!) And here is a Red Promo; (WITH Promo Box) Here is a White one (Or at least Looks white in the pic; I am going to say that since all pictures on the box show the Yellow, or Green that likely those Custom issues are molded in those 2 colors The kits I found listed as Opened do not show kit parts

59 Cadallic-Revell: Has anyone built this kit
Edsel-Dan replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am somewhat surprised no Aftermarket company has offered a better Multi-piece grill/bumper set for the 59 Caddy What with FOUR Modern kits (Actually Three, but Convert + Hardtop versions for Monogram/Revelle) It seems like a No brainer!!! Unless ALL (including producers) expected it to be done in Photo-etch only! Is the grill too fine a detail for resin?? I still have a Ghostbuster's and the Biarrits in progress, so maybe look at using an extra grill or 2 and cutting all the pieces apart as on the actual car??? -
I believe the First issue was Molded in a dark green metallic!! I have 2 of that version Very Close to Maryland's DNR (Park Ranger+forest/Wildland fire) color at the time HERE!! Image copied from that evil Auction site This is the ORIGINAL issue, and the one I have 2 of I also found 2 more Custom issues a Yellow one and a lime green one The Yellow one has the same Purple flame stickers as the black custom shown above

Edsel-Dan replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Gunze did a Better job there on their 1/32 kit They have the head light bezel's cast in place on the body, and the correct dividing line is there for where they end on the side of the fender!! -

Edsel-Dan replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I started on the Convertible (Biarritz) shortly after its release Stalled for some time now They did Compromise on the grill/bumper/headlight bezels Done that way the bezels extend too far back in the fender. Also, Due to the shield that is part of the Chrome trim on the door I will use BMF (or other THIS model chrome trim foil instead of the Thick Mylar from the kit That mylar will not conform to the shield in any way where BMF and other Model foils will!! I have wanted the Seville version for a LONG time, but....... -
Interesting that the clear in this one are CLEAR and Not tinted!! I have one of those originals in the black body/red chassis, interior, etc The clear parts were green tint. Sadly it is a wreck. Dad mounted the headlight lenses BACKWARDS!! (face glued to bezel!!) and flipped & reversed the lower rear suspension arms!!!! I used the Bubble top, and other Wild Custom parts on a Special Interest Stock Only re-issue And NO the parts do NOT match!! (black hood scoop extension, roll pans, etc on red body) I need to Paint it!!!!
-
Not interested in Chopped video (high-lights) I want the Entire Event from Pre-race to Post Race Un-Edited!! Commercials and All!! I use do that!!!! There are 2 to 3 copies of Nurburgring 24 on Youtube that are not only Complete, but Beyond Complete 1 is 64++ HOURS another 72++ HOURS!!!

There should be a Boot cover He bought it from me since I had both the Good Arii kit & the POOR Heller one I sold him the one out of the Heller kit as it looked identical to the Arii piece Some pieces in the Heller/Lee kit were OK, but that chassis..................... -

I also have the Convertible In fact, I have it and the Heller re-boxed LEE copy STAY away from the Heller/Lee kit Though the rear trailing arms are separate, the rear axle is molded in the chassis, and set up for a Toy battery operated motor!!!. Details are also a little soft on the other parts. Richard, I do Like that build Hope mine comes out Half that nice. But, neither of my 2 kits have that Trim surround on the from fenders The slots are there, but no trim -
Wonder what's next from Round2 AMT ?
Edsel-Dan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too would love to see the 67-72 Chevy/GMC pickups back Considering to prices for the 4 box art versions of the recent re-issue Even the 'Rides' version go HIGH!! $50.oo+++++ But, I believe we Lost the 72 GMC Shortbed Stepside we the Longbox Fleetside was brought back. Wasn't it posted here that the AMT Shortbox Stepside was Re-tooled into the Chevy when they found the Fleetside box inserts but Not the Chevy Cab tooling?? Also, with the Heavy Pedal, and Rolling Thunder Custom issues, the Stock grill was altered MAYBE we can get the GMC Jimmy version of the Blazer re-issued, but I don't expect the Pickup again Are the Hood & tail gate inserts still around?? Hopefully they can Fix the 72 Chevy Grill as the one they tooled up is not tall enough Also the 71 & 72 had separate Grill & front Bumper!!! It is posible to separate them on 69 & 70 issues, but, Not the recent 72 Luckily, I have a few of this era Chevy.GMC Pickup. 4 of the GMC Shortbox Stepside 4-5 of the 72 Longbox Stepside, AND 2 of the Heavy Pedal!! besides 10+ of the Fleetsides -
Very Nice Would Love to try this myself but do not have an extra 64 Caddy body!
-
I though Jimmy Flintstone's piece was from a 59 Caddy this one is either a 60 or 61. I wanted one back when first offered And his "Allen" Champion Driver Figure it was Suppose to be Alan Kulwicki!!!!! Would still love that Allen figure!!
-
Those Chrome parts were first in the 4 "Customizing" series kits 49 Mercury 50 Ford Convert 66 Wildcat & Thunderbird they were also in later 'Prestiege' kits!! Bumper Jack & base, engine display base, plus tools might be from 49 Merc too Not 100% sure on TV, Tape deck & Phone Maybe 65 Lincoln??
