  1. As to back-dating the 76 Caprice to 71 Specs. If they did that, it would be an IMPALA, Not Caprice!! 763 was the First year the Big Chevy Annual became a Caprice I Have the Blue 72 In my collection "IMPALA": Yes, they Could do the Caprice for those years, But if done as "Retro-Deluxe" and Identical to Original the 70-72's would be Impala's. I would Love for them to do the 70 Impala Convertible kit again. Wish I could find Mine!!! Got a FEW parts, but......................................
  2. I also have one of the F+F 70 Impala 4dr's It May have been the Very LAST one Ed jr had!!! I am not sure the mold is Up to use anymore the way Ed told me when I was trying to get mine!! I have had it for several years, and HOPE to do a copy of the 4dr we had back then Green Metallic with a White Vinyl Roof Dad Ordered the vinyl added!!!! Yes the F+F is a Hardtop or Pillarless "Sprort-Sedan" as was ours I need to check to see if the Buick Wildcat's roof is the same as the Impala 4dr. I know the SS roof of Both AMT's & MPC's hardtops was Different The Concave (Reverse Curve) rear window vs convex of the 4dr
  3. Where did you find it for $65.oo?? I have only seen it at 70+++++
  4. Yes, a good number of Annuals have been re-issued, The 64 Marauder being the latest to get that treatment During the Presteige series several Annuals came back, Some for the First time ever! 63 Galaxie & Impala, I believe as well as 63 Vette Convertible . During the same time they had the Customizing Series with First time re-issues of the 66 Wildcat I bought re-issues of the 64 Impala and 65 Riviera in the mid 70's in the 'Street Rods" series I got the 63 Split-Window Vette later in the Same series I have a Re-issue of the 61 Ford Sunliner Convertible in Trophy Series box. It has Only a Drawing pf the car on the top of the box, all call outs are on the ends and sides Besides the box art, I think Only the decal sheet is different When was this one re-issued?? Of the Annuals, I believe the 64 Impala has been re-issued the Most. Since the Customizing series, Buyer's Choice, etc, the 65 Wildcat & 64 Mercury Marauder have been re-issued 3-4 times each. It is easy to tell an Original kit from a Modern re-tooling. Look at the AMT 62 Bel Air & Impala SS Convertible Modern, The Annual would be Much like the 63 & 64 kits.
  5. I would Love one, but was expecting a slightly Lower price than $70.++ for a Rev US release. Like the Pete Wrecker.!!
  6. Actaully, The Stockj Hubcap became the outer rim later, Look at Original 58-60 annuals, and see that the Hubcap is a Separate piece added to the Open Steelie outer. I have Original's of the 59 & 60 Impala & 60 El Camino to prove this Plus, Look at the Model King 59 Imperial!!!! I also have that one Craftsman re-issues, (Even in Other series, ie 59 Buick in Desert Race/rally Series Boondock Bomber) had One-piece Promo Stock hubcaps with the axle boss. Tires in those kits were also Promo tires with only the front Open for the rim/hubcap This was also true on 58, 59 and 60 Annuals In actuality, Annual meant Kits Updated every year just like the actual cars. This happened through the early 90's!! And Most later had Fewer optional parts MPC's, Later AMT's 88-96 Chevy Pickups are an Great example here!! I do have a few of these, and since they did come out Annually, consider then as such! Their 80-81 Bronco's did not have Much in the way of Options at all Same with this one I believe the First True Annuals were only offered 2 years. The Revel/AMT 1.32 series kits first offered as 55's The re-issued as 56's with updates. Revell offered the 56's in TWO box art. With the Combination AMT/Revell label, and later with just their own Revell label. Some were re-issued in 59 or so As Customs. All but 2 have been re-issued in their SSP series of Limited run kits. that series included the Ford Sunliner Convertible, Cadillac DeVille convertible, Chrysler Newport/New Yorker hardtop, Mercury Montcalm/Monerey? Pheaton 4dr hardtop, Buick Roadmaster/Century hardtop, and Lincoln Continental Mark2. The Mercury & Buick have NOT been re-issued sine they were Customized. Surprisingly, Though the Ford Was customized after the 56, It was returned to Stock before being re-issued while the Chrysler was left Customized!! Maybe the stock parts were left intact on the Ford tooling, while Not on the Chrysler?? The 32 & 40 Fords were added to the AMT kit line up in 1960,, but these we do not consider Annuals, as they were Not current vehicles (They were 20 & 28 years old then) Also, the 1962 Tooling on the 57 Chevy, 57 & 56 Fords, are not Annuals,
  7. I hope to watch the race shortly on NBC Sports.Network. If anyone is interested, Epson Just released a FREE 1/18 scale Model of Both Mercedes/Petronas cars. Though Paper, They are NOT Simple builds!!!! http://global.epson.com/company/sports/formula_one/
  8. I have built a couple of the AMT Last one coverted to a Convertible (Added moveable Sunvisors!) Still Want the Revell kit. Not been lucky enough to get one yet!!
  9. I Don't have a large enough spare room, NOR a Basement. Most of mine are in the attic. Built, Started, awaiting resto, unbuilt And YES, it gets VERY Cold in winter, and Past VERY HOT in summer!!! Wish I Did have the room downstairs. And MIGHT have it in a few months due to discarding mothers stuff not needed anymore But, would only cut extreme temps not the variation NO heat in there right now till furnace gets fixed. (Circulator pump died) I want to put them in plastic Totes up there, but................................... I know there are Squirrels up there, and I believe Wasps too!!!!! So, I want to wait to go back up there when I know the Wasps have left, are dead, or are Hibernating (Whichever they do) Squirrels are More active as it gets colder!!!
  10. I Love the Lindberg 97 Crown Vic's too. Though the Pre-painted are nicer than the original Ohio kit, The Vector/Vision Light bar in that kit was Better than the MX in All subsequint re-issues and the Best ever Vision/Vector offered in scale including rotator/reflectors for Each dome!!! Wonder what happened to that tooling insert(s)!! The MX looks slightly small for the Full size Crown-Vic, better fitting for Rev's Impala. The Re-tooled tail lights cast in Clear rather than the red of the original's makes detailing the back-up lenses easier. However they are not correctly masked, nor is the Lightbar cap. 91% Isopropol Alcohol Will strip the paint where Wesley's Won't (YES I tried!!!!) Wonder if L.A.'s Totally Awesome will work.
  11. Also, I read "Larry Read's Wartime Dodge WC---" so that is an Article about a Built Model, Not an announcement of one I believe the Big picture there is a Racing 65 Satellite!!!!!! At least the Grill looks like the Satellite, and I do see Front Fender Sponser markings, etc
  12. Thanks. I expected the Weight info. Still, I just Don't like the look!! And NO I Don't have any of the F-100's Would Love to, but.............. Since Hobby Lobby NO Michael's carry them, I don't have any And I can't justify $35.oo++ to have one shipped!!! NAsd Now I have to look for Three. So far I have ONE Moebius kit, and Original 53 Hudson!!! NOT started either. I have looked her over many times, but....................................
  13. I Use to build at my Kitchen Table Then mother took over my side of it, and I have NO place to work Computer "Desk" is Not even big enough for Monitor & keyboard!!! Mother left the table Covered so badly it will take MONTHS to dig it out so I can move back in there to build on.!!! Oh yeah, Haven't Built a Complete Model in 3 YEARS!!!!! Held them in my hands, even Started a few, but Not built!!
  14. I am trying to understand something here on these UGLY Spread axle trailers Is the Weight spread actually Worth the Number of Tires they Burn off due to Scraping them arround turns??? I watched a Semi with a 40' box/refer trailer in Downtown Pittsburgh make a turn, This was Late 79-Early 80 The Trailer suspension was on One bogey. The Lead axle Did NOT turn but DRAG around the corner. He Had to burn sever mile Off those tires, if not Flat-spot them BADLY!!! Wouldnt the Spread axle trailer do that Much Worse???? I do hope ANY trailer kit offered as Spread axle, also include the option for Standard close-couple suspension!!!! Just wish I could afford the new Moebius Semi kits!!!!!
  15. We have gotten the Electra 225 Twice in the past 15-20 years!! Pro-Shop, and most recently Retro-Deluxe. NEITHER had the Motorcycle parts I Have Both issues. Retro Did return some Custom parts and Convertible Only parts but NO motorcycle parts!! So Even If they Did have All the other kits, do they still have the Motorcycle or go-cart parts tools!!!!!
  16. Sounds like it!!!!! I have the convertible in that Yellow, & White Pearl Hardtop in Metallic Teal/turq.. I have the Coronet convertible in the Same Turq/Teal, and a sedan in a Pale yellow/cream Why haven't they re-issued the Coronet??? As for stripping the paint, I have not tried yet.. I have read that Maybe 91% isopropol (Rubbing) alcohol will do the trick on these pre-painted kits.
  17. I want to do the same thing, but prefer to start with the GTO Convertible With the Polar Lights hardtop being issued twice molded in white why have they not offered the convertible since the original "American Muscle" Pre-painted issue??? I believe they were offered in 4 colors each I passed on the red as it looked like a VERY Faded color and Not a New Bright color My plan was to not only do this with the 65 I started, and the 64, but 66 & 67's too I Have shown the 65 Project, It will Keep the GTO emblems as I do not have Tempest or Le Mans script to replace them!! Heck, it will have the GTO Hood, so why not leave the Badges?? One bit of info here, you can use either AMT's 65, Or Revell's 66 Malibu Wagon kit for the Long-Roof transplant!!!
  18. Yes She has the Optional Pregnancy parts. I have one I found at a Yardsale several years ago. Paid the same for her that I paid for an early Revell issue of the V8. $5.oo!! She might not be 100% complete, but enough to build! V8 Was Complete, and I built it. Definitely would be better to replace those Push rods with aluminum ones!! Even with the batteries at less than New, they can flex enough to drop down into the oilpan!!!!
  19. I remember seeing a Similar Thunderbird at Dover a few times. But it was White. Dover Downs IS only 75 milts North of me!!! 72 was the first time I went, I want to say it was #10, and from Norfolk area. ONLY team to drive past my house both directions (Using Bay Bridge--Tunnel between Virginia Beach & Cape Charles--Northampton & Southampton counties)
  20. I expected the higher price when Model King pieces were first announced. Look at Revell's SSP series. They are priced higher then regular issue kits. I also believe Ertl's Buyer's Choice kits were more than regular run kits back then too Though I Only ever got the 63 Galaxie Sportsroof NEW! (I ordered it through another Hobby Shop when BC-1 came out- - I actually ordered it & the Mercury, but only got the Ford then) I Was shocked at How expensive the first one I saw was. The First run.box art 59 Imperial was $32.99 at the Hobby Shop back then. I Did Not get it then, (And that place Closed a few years ago as the city took the building for Chamber Of Commerce services,) But Did get one a few years ago in trade. I got the second run/box art version. I would buy more if I could!! Will we see it re-issued again soon as a Retro-Deluxe kit???
  21. I save empty Kit boxes They com in handy for Resto's found at Yardsales, flea markets, or that evil auction site. Those Collector card boxes that are used as mailers, and replacement Promo boxes can not hold disassembled kit too well!!! And, Yes, I have empty Cereal boxes. They do have Collectible versions every so often. (Star Wars Collectible Pen inside and Mural on back in sections to name one) They aslo come in handy as Storage containers for Parts, disassembled kits etc. If any one here has any empty kit boxes, And the Mini Boxes from Retro-Deluxe kits I will Gladly take them. I need as many as I can get!!!!! Some kit boxes have 2 & 3 models in them!!! MK 64 Comet Caliente has a Combination 57 Squire, Resin, Ranchero & original parts build up as well as a 64 Falcon Sprint Futura Convertible Promno in it Besides the Comet! Modern Classics issue Benz Gullwing box has Promo & Turista Turismo issue 62 Galaxie Hardtops in it!! I have a Cereal box wit 2 67 T-Birds in it another has 2 Crhysler Turbines!! Should I go on?? I want Boxes to store resto projects as they offer better protection (parts loss, damage/broken parts) than bags or NO storage container!!!!!
  22. All re-issues of the AMT 63 Impala include Both the Promo/craftsman engine insert for the chassis as well as the engine to place under the hood. I am not sure though if they ever corrected the lack of Radiator wall/firewall. I have the Prestige issue and the one after that, but none of the later issues. I used one in a stretched Monogram 59 Impala chassis for my Resin (Miller Memorabilia) 60 Olds 98 Convertible Here's hoping if they Retro-Deluxe this one they punch out those cast in place tail lights and tool up separate lenses. Due to the shape & detail it is IMPOSSIBLE to make them look good as is They are too small, and have too deep an inset, and center to foil and use clear red paint!! I am Not sure simply painting them flat red will look too good either!! If I can get a set of Original lenses, Or resin copies, I will drill them out on ALL of the bodies I have!!
  23. I checked ordering directly, Shipping on One sheet was $12.oo!! NO way!!!!!!!!! Even if they Had Scotty's Transporter from the Enterprise.!!
  24. They did it in the "Bluprinter" Newsletter/magazine they were publishing at the time too. I have all the issues from that run to what it became when merged with their Collectibles/Diecast called Replica, through to the very last issue. I remember the biggest complaint afterwards was the name of one kit "Polyglass Gasser" NOT including that it was a 62 Pontiac Bonneville. NO mention of What it was at all!!!! That one would have had Many more votes if they had. I have the the first 4 kits from that series, 63 1/2 Galaxie Sports roof, 64 Murcury Park Lane Marauder and STP Turbine Wedge all being BC-1 issues, the Gurney/Olsonite Eagle I have is an Original Only the Galaxie did I manage to get NEW!!. All others were Later trades/purchases
  25. The "Cooter's" issue 72 Cheyenne was the Last issue of the Original Annual 67-72 Chevy Pickup from the MPC tooling. Evidently it was Lost, That is why the AMT 72 GMC Short-bed Stepside was modified into the Cheyenne Longbox Fleetside we have had re-issued no less than 4 times '95 And to think the Modified Pickup kit commands over $35-40.oo with that many re-issues, is it any wonder why the Cooter's version demands So much more??!! I Would Love to see the Tow truck option return, but likely that was lost with the rest of the Annual Fleetside since that is what was Last offered from that tooling!!
