Most Out-of-Box model shows require only parts found in the box, hence the name. Most kits do provide some lumps of plastic that often look very much like a hood hinge. The trick would be to get them to hold the hood open without any other support if you're wanting to show off the engine with the hood attached to the body. Depending on the judge's interpretation of the rules even adding a toothpick or a wire of some sort would technically disqualify a model just like plug wire or added heater hoses or battery cables.

I'm afraid I would fall asleep in those chairs.

Beautiful looking faithful reproduction of the subject. This kit does leave a lot to be desired, but you have proven what can be done with it.

Great looking paint finishes and all the dented-up trim and lights. I'm also a regular viewer of the program. He may not make them prity, but they do run despite the problems encountered. Some of his terminology for different parts and their function sound a little corny, but he does seem to know what he's doing. Your finish on the bed and boom along with the faded paint job look just as I remembered from that show.

I have always liked the short step side trucks and even came across this same kit looking for something else in the stash a couple of days ago. After seeing this I'm tempted to pull it out and see what i can make of it.

I think the Spyder trim, which this seems to be, may have included the optional V-8 engine. Most states got the 262 cu in V-8 and California got a 350 cu in with a 2 bbl carb thanks to the Cal Smog requirements. Not usually seen in this good of condition.

Another one to think about would be the Revelle '66 Impala SS kit as well. That one even has the air conditioning system present.
